Also, get an Ethernet cable connected. Wifi not only can ruin your multiplayer experience, it can impact everyone you play with as well.

There's an Ethernet adaptor available, but you're right, as standard there is only wifi. The antenna must be good though, because I've compared wifi multiplayer for both ME3 and Black Ops II on WiiU vs Xbox and WiiU suffers no noticeable lag compared to Xbox. Both consoles on the same rack and connected to the same wireless router at a distance of about 2m. Nintendo should still have built in the Ethernet port though.

I still play MP regularly. Not dead at all. Though it is tough to find a good Gold team.
