How do you kill a level 23 dragon before the endgame?

Or rogue dual-wielder. Most probably say with Tempest, but you don't even need it, if you have something to gain guard, plus bonus hidden blade hits on your crafted Masterwork Dual Blade daggers. ;)

In response to OP, yeah, I feel a little bad, until I remember...pixels. And tier 4 materials.

Or rogues in general, although while underleveled I'd lean toward Artificer archer or Varric because of Hail Of Arrows.

I haven't tried Arificer as an archer. I might have to give that a shot. Also, I never take Varric. I'm a horrible person, I know. ;)

Actually, you know what works awesome on dragons? BEES. Yep, bees. If you have max upgraded bees, you can take out dragons in (what feels like) seconds.

Dragons are the embodiment of raw power, but it's all uncontrolled, savage. So they need to be destroyed. Taming the wild. Order out of chaos.

I didn't mind until I saw the Abyssal High Dragon - what a magnificent creature!  And, the way she scampered reminded me of a cat...but, between loot and the achievement I killed them all.  (Didn't get the achievement, I guess it's bugged or I was too high level when I killed some, idk...lol)  Once I get that achievement I will probably stop...I mean, I can stop anytime I want, right? It's not like I'm addicted to loot...I just really enjoy recreational looting.

Though, I do have to admit I have a bias toward the dragons with horns.  The others just aren't that pretty to me and try to eat me - they must die!!!  (Great, now I feel bad again)

I hope it's worth fighting after all that insane stuff you do to attract it!

One of them doesn't count, because of some odd glitch, but I think the latest patch fixed that. It does count the dragons you kill in subsequent playthroughs though. Got my achievement on the second playthrough.

Going down the dragon hitlist right now in post-game, and it's certainly a bittersweet moment. On one hand, the dragon fights are some of the most exciting you'll find in the game. But on the other hand, I feel like I'm the one invading their space and killing them just to prove how big and strong I am.

The completionist in me cannot let them live, though.

IIRC, after you killed your 10th dragon, you can also reload the fight and do it again to unlock the achievement.

That was buggy. It didn't work for me and sometimes would register me as having fought less dragons.

Weird. That`s how I got the achievement, guess I was lucky!

I remember I'd killed seven and the next thing you know, it only shows three being killed. It took a lot of reloads to get it back to normal.

I kill them all, but I don't like doing so.  They remind me of cats.  I love cats.  LOL.

I especially don't like killing the Sandy Howler.  She is out in the middle of the desert minding her own business sleeping in a little dragon ball.  I mean,  there are no people there, so she is only eating Lurkers and stuff.  And you can circle around the top to get to Fariel's tomb, so you don't need to kill her to get that stuff.

I never like killing dragons unless they attack me first. Also they never respawn, so once you kill them they are gone from your current game. I enjoy just watching them....from a distance of course. The designers did a great job on them. I want one as a pet!

(It isn't as hard to kill them in Skyrim. They are everywhere and constantly respawing. They also make it perfectly clear that you are on the menu.)

P.S. I NEVER kill Paarthurnax.

I'm wondering if we need a dragon appreciation thread, both for admirers and people whole like the battles.

I skip most dragons (except for the Highland Ravager in Emprise...I always want that keeper robe schematic  ), killing them feels like poaching exotic animals for their scales/bones.

Ugh, I know right. It reminds me too much of poaching animals like elephants and tigers in real life. So I never kill dragons in the game, not even the one in Crestwood. Stupid villagers should just pack up and move. :P

In most of the areas, they are kind of just hanging out. It's like killing a bear after walking into a bear cave - well, you shouldn't have done that. Leave the bear alone and it will leave you alone.

The research quest in the Western Approach really bugs me. "Here, put out this bait and watch its flight patterns." "Okay. Oh, it attacked me, now it's dead." Why can't I just put out the bait and watch it fly in from afar? Why do I have to kill it complete a "research" quest? And the researcher is like, "oh, well, that's too bad - did you get the flight patterns?" What the heck is wrong with you?! I just killed your research subject! You should be more upset about this.

In Emprise and Crestwood, they are bothering the town, so those make sense.

This quest really bugged me as well. My hopes were up that I wouldn't have to kill the dragon and could just watch it because no one had said anything about killing it. What kind of researcher am I if I kill the creature that I want to observe? An alternative way to solve this quest would have been great.

In addition to the dragon in the Western Approach, Kaltezahn (Emrpise du Lion) was the only other dragon I killed, primarily to get access to the oculara. I didn't enjoy it. I skipped all the other dragons.

Anyone else noticed the dragonlings' change in behaviour after their mum died?

They just stood there, looking all helpless and confused. :(

Another quest I utterly refuse to finish is "A Bear to Cross". Killing the mother bear along with all her cubs is just too much for me.

I mean, they have a dragon on one end and a green glowing lake with demons coming out of it on the other. WHY are you people still here?!?!

On a related note, one thing that also bothers me is how hyenas and wolves attack you on sight and don't stop until they die. Talking about lack of self-preservation instincts <_< . I was all: "nooo!! don't make me hurt you!! :( ". Would've cost that many resources to make them run when their health drops?
