On a related note, one thing that also bothers me is how hyenas and wolves attack you on sight and don't stop until they die. Talking about lack of self-preservation instincts <_< . I was all: "nooo!! don't make me hurt you!! :( ". Would've cost that many resources to make them run when their health drops?

I know what you mean. It's a pity that we don't have a spell which allows you to charm an animal.

Oh I thought this thread was about being scared sh*tless by them and turning tail outta there!! :D but yes, op, if you can eventually look past the flames, electricity or whatever they're spewing at you, they're quite majestic back there...and then I die :?

And the rogue halla are the worst! Feel guilty every time! Let me tame you!!

I killed one, just for approval from bull, and to head canon telling my clan I killed a massive beast. Other than that, no, I will not kill a dragon.

I'm on my second playthrough and I left the dragon in Crestwood...

I'll have to kill the ones in Emprise Du lion, I think. But the others... they can live.

Can you actually sneak past the one in the Hissing Wastes to get to the tomb?

I didn't kill a single dragon in all my PTs. I'm the kind of whacko that puts animals above humans :P

I'd much prefer to avoid killing them if poss and to be honest anyone who takes on a high dragon can't have all their dogs barking anyway. Ok someone sees a high dragon as a problem for sheep, cows, halla, druffalos, etc and the occasional idiot who wanders too near to the dragon's lair, but the Inquisiton to get rid of them? Our job is to restore order and get rid of that big green thing in the sky, not go on suicide missions. Besides they are as IB puts it "Magnificent". More seriously siege equipment like ballistas are more appropriate for that job not a quartet whose members insist on blowing trumpets to announce their presence

Like the footnote. I agree the comment made in Haven about Dalish with magic being thrown out of the clan flies against everything in DA lore in the previous  2 games. I regard it as total BS by the "apprentice"

If the Maker had not intended us to kill Dragons he should not have made them out of XP and loot drops.

Actually, it's not hard at all. Just keep to the far edges of the area, and the dragon will never wake up. I do it all the time. :) I've gotten really good at sneaking around dragons to get to the objectives on the other side of them. Haha.

I can understand where you're coming from. I love dragons, too (I grew up playing "Spyro"). They're so beautiful and majestic. I want on like Toothless from "How To Train Your Dragon". However...loot and XP. It's exciting to fight them.

After drinking from the Well and being told how to tame a dragon by Flemeth, I kinda wished it wasn't a one-shot-ability... remember how awesome it was in Skyrim when you got the power to summon Odahviing and Durnehviir, then use Bend Will to control (and fly) any dragon you wanted?

I'm with the Khaalesi on this one;

I actually felt bad killing the dragons in the game. The only reason i killed them was for the stupid achievement for killing ten high dragons. The only time i'd kill them otherwise is the two times when they are actually causing problems for innocent people. even then i still feel bad for the dragons, its not their fault people moved into their habitat while they were gone.

Dragons for the most part aren't evil in DA, their just like any other animal. They fight to protect themselves and their homes. If there was a way to solve the problems between the dragons and people without killing the dragons, i'd love it.

The amount of detail they put int the dragons is amazing too. I love the detailed coloring each dragon has depending on their habitat.

I mean, they have a dragon on one end and a green glowing lake with demons coming out of it on the other. WHY are you people still here?!?!

Because you don't relocate for the sake of a animal.

You kill it, harvest it, eat it and then grind it's bones into a powder.

And even if the dragon becomes hostile, you can ignore her and get into the tomb. She will go back to sleep as you enter the tomb and wait for a while.  :wizard:

Because of the positive things about the area... like the undead attacking the town, the old town underwater that's filled with dead bodies that drowned during the Blight, the fortress currently overrun with bandits, the wolf problem, deadly Wyverns and and that delightful Red Lyrium infestation?

Yeah okay... those people are morons are having suffered all these catastrophes and still not deciding to pack up? These people would have been too stubborn and dense to flee Haven, even when the mountain collapsed on top of them? I almost feel like we'd be doing the people of Ferelden a favour by not helping and letting nature remove this amount of stupidity from the gene pool?

Kinda wish that the option to "pull a Redcliffe" hadn't been cut now? That would have been the defining moment for a Renegade Inquisitor...

You eat dragons? For some reason I find that grotesque.

Why do you think there are so many skeletons in the Dragonbone Wastes, that place is advertised in Reaver Monthy as an all you can eat buffet?

Me!

I also don't enjoy killing animals in general unless it's not strictly necessary, like hunting rams for the refugees in the Hinterlands...

I find it hard to believe that in Empri you get a quest to deal with  3 high dragons. To do that you Have to rebuild a bridge first right? NO WAY!  For my part I know from DA that high dragons do not have the IQ of a jackhammer. So after the hullaballo the first fight causes I can expect the other two to just sit around waiting for me to come along reduce them to trophies? What is more likely to happen is the other 2 combine to turn me and my team to exceedingly crispy, ice mountains or my all time favourite - toast

Thanks but I'd be happy sending a few sheep across adorned with some nice pink ribbon, and a greetings card

You do get that quest. There are two quests in that area: claim the three watchtowers and kill the three dragons. The trigger conditions are bugged and Edouard Desjardin doesn't always give them to you after you capture Suledin Keep, but they exist and you can get them. Also, if you're collecting shards and landmarks you'll need to kill two of them anyway, since one sits on an ocularium and another on a landmark. Which means, these two dragons tend to die in my playthroughs.

I have this kind of contradictory relationship with dragons. I love them and I'd prefer them to live. On the ohter hand fights against them tend to be epic and worth the experience, also I was named Jorge because of Saint George (San Jorge) and I kind of like honoring that.

In the end I killed them all and they were some of the scarce moments of fun I had in my completionist playthrough (which has been left uncompleted, it was the second and I can't be bothered. Completed the main campaign again, though).

Man, talking about this makes me want to go back to Dragon's Dogma and fight that red dragon again. That was an epic one through and through.

Well, the landmark, you can at least grab and then hightail it out of there. If you try to use the ocularium before killing the dragon, she shoots fireballs at you.

I mean, there's just such majestic creatures. I felt bad killing them.

In certain cases, like Crestwood and Emprise Du lion, where the dragon is causing issues with civilization... yeah, I can see why they'd need to be eliminated. (although that one dragon was just sleeping - sleeping!)

In other maps the dragons are just kind of there, minding their  own business, and then surprise! Inquisition! (I've decided to leave them alone)

And they are just so pretty! I don't want to kill them!

.
I feel the same way as OP.

And it's also a very strong opinion of mine not to kill living creatures just because I am not able to control my desires and greed.

You don't have to kill the dragons btw. Get Cheat Engine.
