There has to be about four other threads about this subject.
No I do not feel bad nor will I ever. They are monsters who need to be destroyed for the betterment of mankind.

You don't have to kill the dragons btw. Get Cheat Engine.
That would be cool, but I don't like cheat engines. I feel like they break the game. And I'm not playing the game on PC anyway. ![]()

Yeah, I don't kill nugs. And I don't kill halla. Just feels too wrong.
Well, the landmark, you can at least grab and then hightail it out of there. If you try to use the ocularium before killing the dragon, she shoots fireballs at you.
Thanks it sounds as though sneaking around the ocularium ain't gonna work!

Depends a bit.
I am on a PC. My game crashes at cutscenes, even though I have exactly the PC they recommend. Bioware hasn't fixed this yet.
I can't read the dialogues at the cinematics. I have to tap 'Skip' rapidly to avoid crashes. Very stressing and unsatisfying.
This ends up in starting new games up frequently. And after nine characters you also get tired of collecting herbs, metals and cloth. Pair that with my view on killing other creatues the solution was not hard to find.
So, with Cheat Engine I can at least avoid getting bored and concentrate on the story. It's the story I want, not the collecting.

Agree about cheat engines, and the nugs look a lot cuter than they did in DAO. Speaking of which what was it that Nug trader said in Orzammar? Oh yeah " You have to boil them before roasting! Some people keep them as pets, but you may as well leash a turnip! My pc in DAO bought one for Leliana as a pet (Schmooples?) from a guy in Dust Town who went into the deep roads catching them to order. from a note I found on L's desk in DAI I believe she still has it!
.
I feel the same way as OP.
And it's also a very strong opinion of mine not to kill living creatures just because I am not able to control my desires and greed.

IMO Cheat Engine breaks immersion - not to mention it causes my game to crash randomly. Otherwise, my game is solid as a rock.
In the real world I don't believe in killing animals unless you're going to eat them. But this is a game, and I'm going to get all those dragons, if only for the awesome screenshots I get while doing it.
When I play games like this it's an opportunity for me to play a person that I can't be in real life - I can say and do things I never would normally.

Odd that. My PCworks fine and is one that I've had for about 5 years now since I had it custom built. I'm running on an AM2 Phenom x6 2.8GHz (upgraded from a Phenom black quad core) CPU and a NVIDIA 650Ti 2Gb GPU. I know the game had issues with NVIDIA cards but mine works ok if a little slow and I don't get CTD's
After drinking from the Well and being told how to tame a dragon by Flemeth, I kinda wished it wasn't a one-shot-ability... remember how awesome it was in Skyrim when you got the power to summon Odahviing and Durnehviir, then use Bend Will to control (and fly) any dragon you wanted?
It's been a while, but you can summon another dragon besides Durnehviir? And you can ride them? I haven't played the Dragonborn DLC yet, so maybe that's where I'm missing it?

My system runs the game fine at ~40-55fps depending on location with everything at max as well as SweetFX, RadronPro SMAA and NVIDIA 8x CSAA/2x Supersampling/16x Antisotropic Filter. I can count on one hand the amount of CTD's I've gotten:
i7 4820k @ 3.7 w/ Corsair H60 cooler
GTX 780ti Superclocked w/ ACX cooler
16GB RAM
EVGA SuperNova 750B PSU
I honestly can't fathom why some folks have so many problems with the game. My b/f runs it just fine as well on his laptop that has 8GB RAM and GTX 765M.

The Bend Will shout is from the Dragonborn DLC, yes.
The shout to call Odahviing is obtained through the MQ.

Oooh, I've been itching to fire up Skyrim again since I've gotten into screenarchery. I have about 80 graphics/texture/immersion mods so the game looks so beaut-a-rific.

Nope! I have tried, and the dragon made barbecue out of me.
That one, sadly, has to die if you want the ocularium.

I'm sorry you are having so many issues! I can see the cheat engine being useful in not having to gather so many materials. I tend to just grab everything on the way, so it doesn't make much difference to me... but I can see how it would be useful.

I think Leliana has Schmooples II, so the first Schmooples (presumably the one you purchased) has died from old age and she got another one. In fact, I think she has two... though, I can't remember what the name of the other is.
But the prize!
I feel pretty horrible when I kill one because the fighting animations are so well done. I like when they wobble around all wounded it looks incredibly realistic.
But they also drop some good loot so stabby stab, looty loot!
I have this kind of contradictory relationship with dragons. I love them and I'd prefer them to live. On the ohter hand fights against them tend to be epic and worth the experience, also I was named Jorge because of Saint George (San Jorge) and I kind of like honoring that.
In the end I killed them all and they were some of the scarce moments of fun I had in my completionist playthrough (which has been left uncompleted, it was the second and I can't be bothered. Completed the main campaign again, though).
Man, talking about this makes me want to go back to Dragon's Dogma and fight that red dragon again. That was an epic one through and through.

Believe me. I have done what I can. Except buying a completely new PC.
I'm not poor or a Scrooge, but it is only a year old, so I have the idea I might use it a bit longer.
I have no problems with any other game. I played Mass Effect, Tombraider 2013, heavy modded Skyrim, The Witcher 2, and a couple more. It'sonly Dragon Age Inquisition that crashes.
I've done everything I can imagine. Added command strings, game settings, checked drivers, repaired and reinstalled DAI, run performance checks, whatever you can imagine.
The isssue is not unknown, despite that many of you haven't heard of it. Bioware is working on the problem together with Microsoft they say.
It's just that the game is more than three month old, and it annoys me a bit that they release several patches that doesn't fix this. I think it would be nice to be able to play the entire game in full. It is beautiful made after all. And I would like to get the full story and the experience of the characters they made for us. And, well, as a more personal and egoistic side I'd like to be able to make the choices I feel is right.
No, naturally I ended being bored with collecting all the time. I don't like cheating either. Of obvious reasons. But I just can't be arsed to collect thousands of herbs, cloths and metals every time I start a new game. I'm born with a patient nature. But enough is enough. You spend more than half the game collecting. I want the story.
In Denmark we have a writer that some of you might have heard of. Her name is Karen Blixen. She wrote Seven Gothic Tales and one of her novels inspired Sidney Pollack to make the movie 'Out of Africa'. It had Merryl Streep and Robert Redford in the main roles.
The movie starts with a view where you fly above Africa. You see the savannas, the wildlife, the mountains and the skies. And very quietly Karen Blixen starts to speak:
"...But I've gone ahead of my story. He'd have hated that - Denys loved to hear a story told well. You see, I had a farm in Africa at the foot of the Ngong Hills."
And that's what is it all about. A story told well. I miss that.
^I understand your frustration. It's a shame the game is so bugged across all platforms.

No, you can't summon any other dragons than Durnehviir and Odahviing, but you can command any dragon to land and then lift of and ride them.

Not to derail the thread, but what are your system specs? Mine is just over a year old now too. I'm just wondering if it's one specific GPU/CPU combination the game doesn't like or what.
I think of it as helping to keep the population under control. Can you imagine the chaos if Dragon populations started getting out of control?? It would be just as bad, if not worse, than the blight.
I'm just doing my part for the betterment of Thedas....and getting sweet loot in the process..
I'm pretty sure I read in the comics that dragons are very rare if not almost extinct.
As I said above, this is a game though, so I tend to leave real-world type politics out of it. The dragons are there to be hunted...for good screenshots. ![]()

Yes, there must be a pattern. My intuition tells me it's older/smaller NVIDIA cards. The newer bigger cards doesn't seem to cause problems.
It's just strange that I have a PC that meets the recommended system specs but can't handle it.
But as I said the problem is not unknown: [INFO] PC Community Concerns
Here's my DxDiag
As you will see my PC should have no problem.
There is one thing that have crossed my mind though. The refresh rate of the card. That could be a lead. I wonder if people have 60 Hz have no problems? I remember some used the command string to cap the 60 FPS level with success.

That command string will only unlock the 30fps cap on cutscenes. I can play the game with or without it with no problem. I generally use it because cutscenes will run more smoothly. However, I have to remove it when I create a character because if I don't I will end up stuck in an inescapable wasteland after the CC cutscene. It's a known issue. After I finish the opening cutscene I can add the command back in.
If I play without v-sync I don't have any issues, short of horrid screen-tearing.
