Yes. Because Pigfarts.

Yes. Because Pigfarts.

Hell no.
If we have life extension and things get much better for a trip though, sure. Like decades from now. Or more. I think we're in no shape for it for a while.
And Mars One is a scam.
I doubt very much it is a scam..
I don't think the survival rate will be very high... but given that they plan (planned?) on generating revenue from reality TV cameras throughout the base, I think the inevitable gruesome space death might boost ratings.

Every 275 years Mars reaches it nearest distance to earth: 100,000 KM!
Practical improbability of Mars One's ability to even get anything on the launch pad aside, I find the point of going to Mars is to come back to brag about it.
Who ya gonna call?

I tried going to Mars once. I mastered the fabrication of quantum physics thus being able to extract the subatomic particles of atoms that construct the universe.
Knowing the universe is infinitely big and repeats itself over time, I managed to open a portal to Mars. I opened this portal by manipulating the particles that make up Earth and Mars. I had to mathematically calculate the perfect time to open this portal. Waiting for the opportune moment for our planets to aline perfectly. If I had failed that, then I could have ended up opening a portal to some fire molten alien planet from million-who-gives-a-shiit-miles out that could have boiled over into our world causing unavoidable cataclysmic destruction.
And it all happened in my room. Right before my eyes.
Then I raided my own fridge.
The end.

You're right, it does. Huh. Didn't put that together.
Which is horrible of me since I like the Doom games.

So it turns out that the whole one way trip to Mars was/is very likely a scam.
You had to buy merchandise and donate money to get to be one of the final selections and then do a 10 minute interview on Skype.

This seems appropriate:

"in fact me leaving would be a huge loss for the planet; it is for precisely this reason that I am greatly needed in this endeavour to colonize a new world."

What a tool. I bet he's a Reddit fanatic.

I think most smart people knew it was a scam and that it was never going to work. These "finalists" clearly had their heads stuck too far up their asses to realize that they were being duped.

On the flip-side, they should be grateful that it was scam because they all would have died. LOL
Edit: I declare this to be the official long-awaited sequel to selling land on the moon.

Hmm, how cute are the Martian women?
Triple breasted, but that's only the lucky mutants... the rest tend to look like Kuato.

It depends upon who else is coming.

Though personally I would go for the Moon.
Internet would still be available.
How so?
I'm torn on this..... Part of me says yes
