All my friends are saving their good items because there's a rumor going around that TRADING IS COMING.
True/false?

Sigh. If you're not trying to troll know that you're gonna get a lot of snide comments. And assuming your question is real, I haven't seen that rumor on the forum until this thread. I think the possibility would be very low for various reasons, but first because it would punish some people and reward others for something which few people would prepare for (stocking up on good items) and because it would be too much effort to get a trade system to work in a way that doesn't trivialize item progression given how things, such as current odds of items dropping, currently work in the game.
I know how stupid this forum is dont worry.
OK thanks man that pretty much confirms
I have some Firm items for trade
Won't happen. Cuz Platinum.
This a EA game we talking about.
All my friends...
So... no one, then?
I have some Firm items for trade
*sandal voice*

There's an item progression in this game to trivialise?
Almost everything I use today I got in my first 4 weeks of playing, now all I get is trash or dupes and I still have far from BiS for everything.
I got two round wooden shields in my commendation chest today. TWO identical ilvl 1 items from a chest with an "improved drop rate".
Item progression in this game is an absolute farce.
That said: trading in this game would be a bad idea - the outrage from people who've salvaged their innumerable dupes would be incredible.
I'll trade you these fantastic, extremely rare Army Dirks for a superb belt of health.
Funny, that was (and still is) the most significant purple item I've acquired thus far in DAMP. Gotta love those increased health returns on kill. Mmm...delicious! Now if only I could get a heal on kill ring...*sad face*
I have lots of extra stuff I can dish out to people. This will be good if they add it.
It would be good if it were to happen, but it won't because micro transactions.
I hate salvaging good gear when I know someone who could use it.
With platinum in the game, there is no chance that bioware/ea will implement a trading function between players. Wait, did you mean trading platinum for chests? If that's what you meant, then it is already in the game.
Are you guys kidding me?
I'll never trade my Caltrops ring. You'd have to give me like, 5 max damage Calibans for that ****.

You`re selling yourself cheap - it`s worth at least 6.

You'll get some people who get BiS items in the first few hours of playing and some don't get the BiS items after hundreds of hours because of how poorly the loot system was made, but it's still loot progression with a narrow percentage of players who get geared at a predictable rate. If you look at an RNG-based loot system such as the one used in ME3MP you can much more clearly see progression with a larger percentage of players progressing predictably because you have to obtain 5 of each upgrade and 10 of each weapon to fully upgrade the items, whereas in DAMP the odds of obtaining the items are greatly reduced because it is "all or nothing" instead of 1/5th or 1/10th of each item obtained at a time. To use an analogy, 100 penny rolls is far less likely to result in 75-100% tails than 4 quarter rolls.
If they allowed trading, a person could be given a BiS weapon and suddenly he does 5-20x+ more damage than with inquisition weapons (depending upon enemy armor rating), and could start farming perilous on the first day of playing and not really have any more loot to look forward to. So as bad as the loot system currently is, trading would ruin the loot system even more and people will be quitting even faster.
All bioware needs to do to address the issue of "I've played 1000 hours but missing two items but each large chest has the same infinitesimally small odds of getting the two items as the first large chest I ever opened" is to increase odds of the missing items (and decreasing overall odds of loot to compensate if needed), whether by:
1. Increasing odds of the missing items dropping in proportion to how much of certain types/levels of items have already dropped.
2. Gifting specific and important items after certain amount of gold spent (i.e. after 1 million gold spent, if user has less than 2 HoK rings the inquisition gifts him HoK rings until he has 2. Or after 2 million gold spent, if user does not have every single BiS vanilla weapon in game or every single enhanced ability ring, gift missing items).
3. Making it so certain types/levels of already-obtained items are rerolled and rerolled again if redundant to increase odds of the missing items or at least useful items or character xp, the same as in ME3MP.

Sadly, he's not trolling. I heard people who are on the leaderboards talking about how they heard this rumor and they were saving items. So it gets around.

Had they heard that you had heard that they had heard?
