Anyone think Bioware's....taking just a bit too long releasing the DLC...maybe?

they have to realize that interest is going to fall rapidly after the W3 releases

Yup, I was hoping for some major story dlc to be released before May for exactly this reason. Once The Witcher 3 drops I know my interest in Inquisition is going to be non existent, even with dlc.

Me too. Well, the first part at least. (I won't be trying W3 until I'm done the first two..)

Story DLC April-May latest. Black Emporium March-April.

Then if the DLC cycle is fully approved, I'll try to be ready for at least one in Summer, and one in Fall, maybe even one in Winter-Spring (2016).

I also amusingly wonder about MP DLC called 'Control' and 'Synthesis' (after 'Destruction' DLC happened).

Its kinda tough being a DAI player in some ways, right now. Its approaching 4 months since release, and we've only had that armor dye and storage chest (and smaller tweaks) happen. That's... strange for Bioware. Though, ME3 took around 3 months for Extended Cut and 2 months after that for Leviathan..

I understand some peoples' impatience, but I personally would prefer they take their time. We all know what happens when they are rushed, DA2 happens. All I would ask for at this time is just to know what DLC we are going to get. The Calling or Wolf Hunt. I'd like to eventually get both because those are the main two things that the game left unfinished. Of course these two DLC's as well as the titles are the most widely speculated by fans, and I agree with the majority on what the DLC's will be.

With how DAI is structured, I would have absolutely no problem with:

-several DLC over 1.5-2 years, not even just 1 year

-substantial patch support throughout this time

But I'm idealistic sometimes.

Haven't you been following the patches? They're still finishing the game!

They story in the game currently cannot be altered from what is released. How can they rewrite the story to finish the game?

I'm going on the sales and the general reviews, but also the high number of hardcore fans on these very boards who are thrilled with DA:I and will defend the things I see as flaws to the death (dead empty world, watered down plot, overabundance of fetch quests with no side quests of substance, very limited characterization and roleplaying opportunities, etc...).

Fun fact: I'm a console player.

Well I'll be, a console player that doesn't fit the "casual and A.D.D" cliche' lolz. You see this BIOWARE/EA????? Not every console player is your personal piggy bank. Mark my words... it'll come back to haunt you.....,,, eventually.    ,,, ;,,; ,,, "evil laugh"

Honestly though, I think many of the players that would deny those shortcomings where from folks that hadn't had alot of hours in the game. Hell, the first 30 hours I was still in aww by just the visuals and how vast the world "seemed" let alone noticing any of the flaws. Once the bling wears off I'm ASSuming most folks would agree with at least SOME of those statements.

Nope. I hope they take as long as they need because I want the story DLC(s) to be nice and long and well done. I really hope they don't cave to pressure to hurry and release something that's crap. I also don't give a flying crap about The Witcher series. I could never get into The Witcher, so it certainly won't influence my desire to continue playing DAI.

Just a suggestion but you may wanna play the second witcher first so you aren't soo underwhelmed with it. About the only thing it did better than it's predecessor was sex scenes. There's a reason why that's all you saw on reviews of that game because it is literraly 1/4 as long with better graphics. No stretch there ither. It may be 1/10 as long even. It's been ages sense I played it and played it only once because it was all I could stomac after just finishing the original. Don't get me wrong. I'm just as much of a perve as the next guy gamer but they leaned a bit too much on it. Not a bad game and worth a play but really didn't hold a candle to the first for me.

I have both and I've seen both, but as a story-focused gamer (or at least 'story immersion'), I'll need to play the first game anyway.

Ah well that makes sense and honestly if I went into the second one knowing ahead of time that it was a much shorter game it likely wouldn't have bothered me as much. As far as story goes, I can't even remember which one drew me in more. Whicher has a very very different story that's for sure. Not like it's rehashing midevil or same old same old fantasy stuff so you may really enjoy it.

sigh.

first-- people get irritated because DLC's comes too soon. Complaining it 'should' have been in the game.

second-- people complain it takes too long.

Bioware, take your time.

In the meantime, I am enjoying Mass Effect 3 for a 5th time.

Considering the attention span of most people is that of goldfish, waiting several months is clearly far from optimal. Most players never finish the game even once, let alone for the 5th time, so you (and the majority of forum regulars) are a tiny part of their target audience. Bioware already released their first day DLCs for DA:I without any fuss. Facts, not complaints.

Was OP kidding about DLC being timed exclusive for the Xbone? If so that sucks.

Why are PC gamers so eager to made ridiculous generalizations? It's embarrassing.

Sadly no. Xbox have the time exclusive. A good thing, in one hand. So they will be beta testing for bugs for us PS and PC players...

Good point. I suppose there is that silver lining then. I just hope its not too long a wait. Although I'm fairly happy replaying DA2 (and trying to complete it on nightmare) for now.

I've already played this 8 times through and once W3 is released it will definitely get shelved dlc or not.

I feel like BioWare are between a rock and a hard place here.

If the release story DLC some fans will be like 'fix your game before you milk me of money' but if they don't at least announce it soon many fans who are waiting on it will wander off once the next big RPG comes out.

Each gamer is different, what some see as flaws others see as good game design. I feel that most of the areas were populated enough because they were supposed to be the wilderness, seeing lots of NPCs running around a desert or dense forest would be weird. The only place I felt was underpopulated was Val Royeaux, I was expected it to be at least the same size as Kirkwall with more hustle and bustle.

The plot wasn't watered down, it was as epic as DA:O's but because you could spend hours dicking about between major plot points, it lost its epic feel

Quite frankly that is my biggest issue with DA:I, the plot and the exploration seemed to be conspiring against each other . Most games that feature lots of exploration have a shoe string plot and most story based games don't have a lot of exploration because they want to keep you focused on the story.

BioWare tried to balance the two and IMO didn't get it quite right.

Still though I think it is great game, with some of the most enjoyable companion quests and interaction I've experienced.

I've already played this 8 times through and once W3 is released it will definitely get shelved dlc or not.

I've got 2 complete playthroughs at the moment and was planning on holding off at 3rd until the DLC comes out (as is my tradition with BioWare games), I do this so I don't get burnt out on a game too quickly, but without even a release date for the story DLC then I might start up a third sooner than I thought, since there are still a lot of decisions I'd like to try.

The Witcher 3 coming out won't affect whether or not I play DA:I DLC though, as interesting as it looks, I didn't like the previous 2 Witcher games so I can't imagine I'll like this one.

Might check it out once it get cheap though, I'm not sure.

As with others i'd rather see a fixed game first then consider buying DLC or not.

Honestly think they are pushing back DLC news to fix the game, and i think that is a good thing.

yep this is one problem.

but many peoples didn't played the game until the end.. and other ones skipped the half content.

That was my perspective also at first, since I loved KotOR, SWtOR, ME 1 & 2, Jade Empire, and of course DA:O I wanted to like BioWare's games again but it seems my tastes in what makes a game good are in the minority. DA:I has been their "most successful launch" to date so I doubt they'll go back to what made those older games special to me.

I don't think we are in the minority. I've been following this forum for quite some time now but never joined in and I've seen a lot of people not happy with the game. Surely Bioware takes feedback into consideration? I doubt they will make the next game full of fetch quests again when it's a number one complaint about the game. Even some reviews mentioned it. I don't know, I still have hope, that's why I won't give up. If I see DA4 will be the same, then well, I guess it's time for me to move on then.

And I thought for beta testing there are PC players :) You know, they beta test the game for everybody, so Xbox players can be the first to play the DLCs :D

The base game is not even finished and you want DLC ?

Thanks, but no thanks. I'd rather they patch the base game up and then release DLCs.

Oh the antics the Instant Gratification generation gets up to with their "Me want things quickly !"...

... Sure all the reviewers gave it rave reviews but what are they supposed to do when the last version of DA was..well... what it was. They would get raked over the coals if they didn't give it at least a decent review in comparision to DA2. Eventually releasing games with empty promisses, broken gameplay, lazy filler, unfinished core mechanics, and endless bugs will catch up to them. And "sales" figures is ALL they ment when saying "this is our most successful game yet". ...

I sure hope you are wrong about this but I certainly see how you come to this conclusion.  While I use gaming site reviews for only superficial benefits, it is nevertheless a benefit (if there is any integrity left in them).  If not, then the only benefit left is a bastardized level of entertainment on the order of the tabloids like Enquirer.  It's a sad world indeed.

In regards to bolded part in your post, that is pretty well the only defining factor in business, no?

There are some review sites with plenty integrity left in them, see incgamers for example, but among the bigger sites they are the exception. It is a sad world indeed, where the value of ad revenues (higher score = more money, because the big publishers advertise like crazy) is more important than the original mission to warn and protect the consumers. All in all the video games journalism business, as well as games industry to some extent, is pretty much rotten to its core.

And for 200Down's bolded part of his text, unfortunately yes. In an ideal world another defining factor would be how it will bode for the company's reputation in the long run, among others. But EA doesn't care about that (nor does any other major publisher), there will always be more new players to buy their games based solely on the hype than there will be players who stop buying their games for good.

That's actually the reason I bought an Xbone. Jokes on me now because 1) Will there be any SP story DLC? and 2) I didn't like the game very much :pinched:

I wouldn't expect a decent DLC to be ready before 1 year of production.

The game was released quite recently. It's been only a few months.

Better to wait for the production team to have enough time to develop a good DLC than to have an unsatisfying gaming experience because of a rushed product due to problems meeting the deadline.
