Where I am: In the quest "What Pride Had Wrought," I have already done the four puzzles to get into the Petitioner's Chamber where you first have a conversation with Alabas, his archers at your back.

The problem: Once the conversation is over, you're supposed to follow the guide through a hidden door on your left, however, there is a locked door to your right. If you activate the door, it tells you it will only open once you complete the ritual. What ritual? Am I missing something really obvious or is this an easter egg?

What I've found: I've searched everywhere trying to find a clue about what this locked door is about. The only thing I could possibly connect is that in the same area where you do the 3 puzzles to gain access, there are random places where you can walk and hear the "whoosh" sound that usually indicates a puzzle square has been stepped on. Perhaps there's a giant puzzle throughout several rooms in the puzzle area that opens this locked door?

Or, is this simply the door I would come through if I skipped the rituals?

That's the door you would have come through had you done the rituals. (as the door tells you.)

That sounds right because I know at this part there are multiple ways to do this. If you've chosen to do the rituals instead of bum rushing Samson/Venetori queen the elf group will give you a dialog option to side then leave, take fountain without consent, or take fountain if you can. Usually I side with them and leave afterward where I have to follow the guide which causes me to not fight monsters along the way. However I have noticed at a certain point the guide stops after revealing a secret room with a chest (for some reason) and doesn't progress any further. What apparently you need to do is go through a specific door, fight a small group of guys then you will get a cinematic.

If I remember right if you with taking the fountain you have to fight your way to where you need to go instead of "sneaking by them".

Actually, the Petitioner's Room made little sense. :D Doing the Rituals without taking the underground route, you'll end up entering through the main door. I've done the rituals and then chose to jump into the underground route, the game notes that the rituals were done so there's no penalty, and you'll still end up entering through the main door.

Actually, no. That's the door you come in through if you skipped the rituals, despite what it tells you. If you did the rituals you come in through the main door and the side door will still say "do the rituals to open this door".
