I have a Jedi suit. So I can get by the guard at the elevator in order to go down to the lower level from the upper level. Will I have to go down alone, or will I be able to take my companion down too? Since he's a soldier and I'm only a scout, I don't really want to leave him behind. Any suggestions?

Only your char needs the Sith Armor/Passcard. Everyone else doesn´t. So yes, you can take him with you.
