With the new game coming out this year, I have to say that I can't wait for it. I've always loved Legend of Zelda, with my favorite game in the series being Majora's Mask. That said, while I do love the series, I gotta admit, there were a lot of games that I look back at fondly that I did not complete. Does that make sense to you? I almost completed Twilight Princess but never got around to it because after trying to find some side-quests to complete (that's what I loved about Majora's Mask) and being disappointed with the lack thereof, I quit the game. A Link Between Worlds? Was afraid that I would complete it too fast and decided that I should give myself a break. Never got back to it. Kind of forgot about it, actually.  Now I wish I had, as I don't have the game in my possession now. Never played Skyward Sword. All I know about that one is that everyone loves Ghirahim and Demise. Funny enough, I never even finished Majora's Mask. I loved every second of it except the Stone Temple.

So, to put it bluntly, I have a very weird relationship with the Legend of Zelda series. I've only completed three (Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, and Minish Cap), yet I really love the series. Too many childhood memories, too many moments that I look back on. Yet the new Legend of Zelda game coming out has rekindled my interest in the series and the speculation regarding the game (such as the overworld being an amalgamation of many of the previous Zelda titles such as Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time, and the first Legend of Zelda) has got me pretty excited, although I try not to be too hyped lest I set myself up for disappointment. That the tile seems to really embrace an open-world aspect and (may) take place in the child timeline are two things I like in particular.

Anyway, discuss about Zelda to your hearts content.

(Also, I don't know about anyone else here, but I'm kinda hoping that they don't use Ganondorf in the next game; Zant really got punked back in Twilight Princess).

One of the greatest series in gaming. Especially the NES original

First Zelda game I ever played was Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. Definitely enjoyed it.

The game that really made me fall in absolute love with the series was of course, Ocarina of Time.

Top favorites are OoT, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princes.

Honorable mentions: Phantom Hour Glass, Oracle of Ages and both Four Swords. In truth though, I love all the Zelda games., but ofc everyone does  have their favorites.

I have a Master Sword replica, I have a tattoo of the Triforce with a tribal design going around it, own Zelda shirts, also have a Legend of Zelda Hyrule Historia book, etc.

The Zelda franchise is one of the very very few franchises that I've been following for as long as I can remember.

I actually never finished Majora's Mask because I didn't like the use of timers. Still don't.

The best Zelda was this one:

Aside from that, I enjoyed Ocarina of Time as well, the rest were meh. I heard A Link Between Worlds is good

Link to the Past was essentially the start of my love for Action RPGs. They managed to combine High Fantasy and Dark Fantasy in a very compelling and tangible way. It came with a stellar soundtrack, and a healthy difficulty level. Instead of Kill-So-And-So-Amount-Of-People to be strong enough to beat the next boss, the level progression was based on your tool selection instead, not unlike Super Metroid. EgoRaptor's put up very good arguments(among others) that this could be seen as a step back from the open-world go-to-any-dungeon design of the original, and the spiritual sequel on the 3DS apparently fixed that.

Ocarina of Time, whether people loved it or not, set up a lot for future 3D Action RPGs to come and is generally considered a highly influencial gem. Majoras Mask is a case where I love the Story a hell of a lot more, though the gameplay can be more frustrating in comparison. The 3DS version fixed some issues from what I hear.

Wind Waker was the last I played. It's better than how people initially reacted and has some great ideas. It's the first game that captured sailing on the open sea to such a grandiose scale in third-person.

As for now, I migrated to the Souls series. Still keeping an eye on the coming games, but none have yet to pull me into Nintendo's game selection.

I agree with much of the speculation made by Commonwealth realms and M. Productions. I'd give the two videos below a look. You may find the accents annoying, but I think what they say about the game's open world being a fusion of previous Zelda titles' open-worlds and the game probably being set between MM and TP are pretty true.

Vaati for Hyrule Warriors.

Well, they've alread included Young Link and Fierce Diety in the game, they might as well include him as well.

Well, they've already included Young Link and Fierce Diety in the game, they might as well include him as well.

Young Link is such a powerful character it's not even funny.

But considering he is the legit Hero of Time it's not that shocking.

I was honestly surprised Vaati wasn't in the game. Aside from Demise, he's the earliest villain a Link has fought.

Since Minish Cap is the 2nd earliest game in the timeline.

But yeah. Vaati and Groose. That's what I wanted.

But no. They put in Tingle. A smidgen disappointing.

Yeah, the fact that I keep reading about Groose and how awesome he is adds to my disappointment in never playing Skyward Sword. Is Ghiriham and Demise in the game? They're fan-favorites, aren't they?

Regarding the Wii U Legend of Zelda, I like the idea of a four-player co-op aspect that this article discusses. I can imagine the excitement that would come out of an announcement of such a thing in this year's upcoming E3. I'm also sort of wishing that the Hero of Time could be the main character of the Wii U title just to shut up the "Link Is Dead In MM" nonsense.

They're in Skyward Sword yeah.

Given the Heroes Shade from TP it makes some sense timeline wise.

For me I identify with Zelda as being Yoshiaki Koizumi's brainchild as much as Miyamoto. Miyamoto was always kind of more Mario to me, but obviously Zelda too. It's just that the master sword, dark worlds, etc, all these things were more directly from Koizumi is my understanding.

For those who don't know he got involved with A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Majora's Mask, and a portion of Wind Waker. Zelda 1, Zelda 2, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, as well as all the handheld Zeldas I don't think he really had a role in at all.

Skyward Sword having a stamina bar, etc, it has kind of a more Mario aesthetic in some ways, it all means I don't know what to think of Zelda now. I hope the next one is good but I'm not really sure what to think since I don't even know how involved Miyamoto is either, so it's a weird time for Zelda is what I'm saying I guess.

You could argue Demon Soul's is actually a truer successor to the spirit of a Link to the Past but I don't really enjoy dying 10 zillion times so eh.. it's a hard series to replace really..

Although Link would have to die as an adult in the Lost Woods to become a Stalfos, wouldn't he? And didn't the Hyrule Historia already say that Termina is a parallel universe? I really need that book...

Anyone else hoping for a live-action Zelda series? I mean, I wouldn't want it to be like Game of Thrones (probably the most overrated show out there), but I certainly think it's manageable and I think that Nintendo is at their best when they do ambitious stuff. I read this article recently that talked about how a Netflix Legend of Zelda wouldn't work out, but I can't help thinking that it would be a good move on Nintendo's part and actually help them get more attention. Besides, the points that the article made were bunk and I actually came away more convinced that they should make a live-action series (with the right talent of course) after reading the comments.

Apparently Hyrule Warriors saved the Warriors franchise.

I have three Zelda t-shirts now, had a fourth one that I threw away after it got holey. Oh well, nothing lives forever. Except Ganon.

Anyone that's interested in how Zelda Wii U will implement the Lost Woods, if they truly will include, should watch this video.

Him bringing up the original concept of the Lost Woods for OoT and TP really got me thinking about the potential that an open-ended Lost Woods would have, without any boundaries.
