Go watch his god awful playthrough of Wind Waker he did on Game Grumps.
It invalidates his statements because it shows his ADD is the problem. Not Zelda's.
And here is a video modification kit so you can make the video better.

Maybe by the time it comes out the Wii U will be priced appropriately.
this guy explains the problem with modern zelda games perfectly.
I think the removal of artificial barriers for exploration is a really good point and maybe that is what Zelda Wii-U might be going for. The part about puzzle-solving is spot on.
Still loved every 3D incarnation of the franchise, especially Skyward Sword.

Word.
Also, turns out Nintendo's software sales are much worse than I thought: the current total software sales of both the 3DS and Wii U combined is only about as much as the Gamecube's. Let that sink in for a minute.
On the other hand, their own software does seem to do better on just the 3DS alone... but that's still lower than every other previous Nintendo device but the Virtual Boy.

Their games are expensive and they never go on sale.

Mhm, which in turn also prevents further hardware sales from priceminded people such as myself.
Personally, I can't rationally justify paying the same 300 bucks I did for my Xbox 360 in 2008 for a similarly specced console in 2015 (which would be a secondary console too for most), nevermind when the games that are supposed to set the system apart from the rest forever remain at their full retail launch prices.
I'd gladly put up with optional online fees (or the inability to play online) instead.

and your proof of this is where?..... not seeing anything here so I can only assume you are just making this up.
Update: I did some digging and found only one article that you could be referring to, however I also found other articles that used different tracking information to come up with completely different outcomes so that would invalidate both sources unless another source can be found that shows the same results. The most recent articles involving software sales concluded with 2013 so these really can't be used since they are out of date anyway.
It's also worth noting that many companies don't release sales data which can skew Software attachment rates.
Turns out that you're correct and it's missing a fiscal year of software sales by now, my apologies for missing that.
Although it still doesn't change the bigger picture when it comes to software, it just means the 3DS may be close to surpassing the Gamecube in that aspect by now (or maybe already have done it), which isn't exactly the highest achievement either.

And let's not forget an almost complete lack of third party support. It's a Nintendo-only console for the most part. Which wouldn't be such a bad thing if the games went on sale more often and the console was priced relative to it's hardware specs.
Zelda has always been an earthshattering experience (for me)... but I just can't justify the fact that their success has more to do with the insane brilliance of the original concepts and how long they've lasted rather than any developments or changes they've made over time. When you have a bazillion 3D action games, I can understand why people would go "Oh this is just uncharted" or something, rather than saying with Uncharted "Oh, this is just a Zelda."
I also feel like Skyward Sword was pretty cool partly because of the influence of Monolith Soft which helped out on A Link Between Worlds, Pikmin 3, and Animal Crossing (I feel like they should be called the Monolith 4 or something)
I don't think they have much to do with Zelda U though, anyway, sorry for the cynicism, because I don't know if anyone contributed more to video games than Shigeru Miyamoto and maybe no one ever will again, but it's just impossible to ignore this sense that like I've done this before and will do so again, like the sequelitis video was discussing.
Zelda U seems to be the first time they're borrowing rather directly from something like Skyrim rather than going their own way with something like motion controls or whatever, which seems like it may seriously complicate the situation. The biggest hindrance though is failing to channel that weird Zelda mythos and zany charm that seems to have departed in Ocarina (returning only for MM) and which all but a handful of people seem to have noticed.
And let's not forget an almost complete lack of third party support. It's a Nintendo-only console for the most part. Which wouldn't be such a bad thing if the games went on sale more often and the console was priced relative to it's hardware specs.
Alas. I wouldn't really need third party support myself either, although it would solve how I'd play GTA VI before the inevitably late PC release, but the resulting issue is that everything that remains is either the usual Nintendo fare or the handful of other games they are now funding.
Add to that how... liberal Nintendo can be with her release dates, and you don't exactly have a winning formula. You'd think they would know how to efficiently enough design games after the last couple of decades, yet here we have another Zelda that was "confirmed" to release in 2015 only 4 months ago, and now again delayed...

The console is priced appropriately as it is the best console on the market with a killer first-party line-up and a controller that people love while us Sony fans are still waiting for greatness. But I know that this will not affect the people who cry "Nintendoom!" because Nintendo has passed through what was essentially a phase in it's history, one where people were swept away in the Wii/DS craze of the mid-2000s, even if they're doing fine, or even more than fine as a company.
They are doing a new Direct tonight. Here's hoping for some Fire Emblem news.. or dare I ask.. SMTxFE? But that probably won't happen outside of an Atlus stream.. but who knows.

Hoping for some star fox, too.

You have to look at this from beyond the Nintendo fanboy perspective, which I know might be difficult since I was there to some extent in the past as well. The "market", for better or worse, has already decided that the PS4 is the best console on the market this gen, with the X1 following slowly but steadily. Wii U is already dead last despite the one year lead, with no possible hope of recovery.
The hardware is not at all priced appropriately for what it offers... like I said they're asking for it what MS asked for roughly the same hardware back in 2008, despite being in a much worse position than they were back then. Hell, there's already deals for X1's with TMCC and whatnot for that kind of money now, and it's likely enough that there will be for the PS4 post-E3 as well. These aren't consoles that are plagued with six month droughts or what have you, nor a lack of third parties willing to publish games on it.
Nintendo has sadly become utterly irrelevant to the greater market.
And the controller which people supposedly love is part of the problem, as it's one of the reasons the price ended up being much higher than what people were willing to pay for the hardware.
Beyond that, that one successful phase that was the Wii/DS is indeed over, and in its wake we're continuing the trend of Nintendo hardware (console and portable) selling worse than than its predecessors. And before you give me that rehearsed "But of course they wouldn't ever do as well as the Wii and DS did", realise that that that anomaly is already accounted for.
I honestly don't get how you could say that they're okay when the current Nintendo handheld's software market is only doing as "well" as the worst Nintendo console did a decade ago, with the Wii U being an even worse low on its own. You must be aware of the historically huge difference between how their handhelds and consoles do, and that their handheld doing console numbers (Gamecube numbers no less) does not make for a bright future.
I do recognize that Nintendo has been "doomed" since the late 80's already, but for the first time ever it's actually starting to look like a reality; they're actually getting into mobile gaming now for crying out loud.
And I don't know about that killer first-party line-up unless they surprise us with something great tonight; right now the year's remaining line-up looks like... Splatoon (which admittedly looks good), Xenoblade and... Mario Maker. There's of course some more gems if you go backwards as well, but nothing worth investing into a new console for.
And I'll give you that the other consoles are worse off when it comes to the amount of exclusives right now, but unlike Nintendo's that isn't all they have going for them either. Like Riven said: it's a Nintendo-only console, and that means it only appeals to a certain small niche, which continues to shrink at that.

It's a $300 machine that acts as a secondary console and is woefully underpowered when compared directly to it's competitors. The fact that I can go to the store and pick up an Xbox One for $50 more than a Wii U is insane. The tablet idea should have been dropped before the console design was finalized for mass production, and the only reason it wasn't is because Nintendo is insecure and believes they have to rely on gimmicks now to sell consoles.
Launching at $250 with a normal game pad would have been fine and most Nintendo fans wouldn't have griped. The console may very well have been around $200 today or even less if they had taken this approach, and I know it would have been more successful with real third party support behind it. Even if it was underpowered, third party would not ignore a healthy console and it's base.
But what we have now is a machine that is $100 over what it should be, acting as a secondary console to the PS4 and Xbox One, underpowered hardware that makes it more difficult for third party (the few that are still supporting it) to port newer games that are designed for next-generation hardware, the tablet controller, which only serves to jack up the price and add further headache to the porting process, and finally, it only delivers Nintendo games and is dead last in the console race with no consumer confidence to boot.
The Wii U is the definition of a failed console.
Nintendo is finally bringing the Wii U Fatal Frame game to North America.......... very nice announcement. (April 1 Nintendo Direct)
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH, some proper survival horror in the absence of Team Silent I hope!
I had actually shamefully forgotten that they had announced a new Fatal Frame for the Wii-U.

Eh. Nintendo's console is just better as a whole. Can I play my N64 games on the PS4 and Xbox One? Nah. Am I still bummed out with PS4 and Xbox One giving you only a few games to play that are actually worth paying (still bummed out by Knack). Err, yup. Profitable console, profitable amiibo, and a console that has a superior line-up to the PS4 and Xbone.
Nintendo > PS4 and Xbone

It's a machine that has more exclusives than the Xbone and PS4 and better games as a whole. PS4/Xbone doesn't have something like Nintendo's Virtual Console. Nor do Sony and Microsoft do DLC right like Nintendo. Nor do they have the same respect for quality like Nintendo. PS4's had a port of The Last of Us, even when I just played it a year before that port was released Seriously, GTFO Sony. Come back when you bring me some actual greatness. And Xbone only has Halo... Oh yeah, and I guess Gears of War, which they haven't touched for a while. And maybe something about a temporary exclusive called Tomb Raider? Hmm, yeah, not looking too shabby, these current-gen consoles. And neither Microsoft or Sony have something like the 3DS. I don't know why I once put so much faith in Sony. Oh well, I guess. I suppose the cheaper console on the market aka the Wii U is so far winning this gen.
In retrospect, I'd say the Wii-U so far has more titles that I actually find fun than either the Boner or the PS4. The PS4 has only had weak exclusives and sequels (some which I felt didn't live up to the quality of previous games, like say inFamous).. putting all of that aside, there are only a few third party titles left like Shadow of Mordor which was fun, I admit, but that's all so far. Perhaps if they stopped with the shadllow pretense of trying to make social media-tv-streaming-boxes and focus on distributing good games, outside of only prettying-up the skyboxes, then things would be different. There isn't that much meat to keep me engaged with the new generation of consoles, thus the reason why I find myself either gaming on the handhelds or the PC, both new and old games.. along with a few older titles I missed on the PS3 with backwards compatibility, another missed opportunity for the PS4. Blergh.
Huh... Interesting theory regarding the next LoZ game's timeline placement.
I'm rather impressed by this person's analysis. It's actually people like him that have made me buy a Hyrule Historia recently. And a game set during that period would be rather interesting, but I think some of the fans are putting too much stock on the "I don't see any settlements, therefore the land must be untamed" interpretation of the gameplay so far shown. Aonuma could have wanted to save that for later, to surprise fans. But again, interesting theory by Zeltik.
Are people actually thinking that Zelda U is going to consist entirely of wildlands with next to no towns/villages/etc? Also this is only a minor annoyance, but it's bugging me that we don't have a final title for the game at all yet.

I can just play my N64 games on my N64, or my PC emulators for FREE rather than have to pay $12 for a 20 year old game. Amiibo's are nothing but physical DLC dolls made for man children.
And what is the Wii U's great line of games? The whole 10 exclusives it has? You seem to forget that outside of exclusives the Wii U has NO games. No multiplats. You know what that means? No COD, BF, Batman, ME, DA, MGS5, Battlefront 3, Division, Rainbow Six, AC, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, ETC.
All the Wii U has is Mario, Mario Kart, Mario Party, (notice the # of mario), Zelda (which there isnt even a real zelda game out yet), Star Fox (which probably wont show up till next year), Smash Bros (only real good game on the system), Yoshi's Wolly World (an inferior looking, childish game that will probably flop as hard as New Yoshi's Island, they'll never match the original the way they are going), Xeno Chronicles (looks decent), and Splatoon (a crappy kids shooter).
Notice how original that line up of exclusives is, when 5/7 of them are just rehashing the same old games. Then watch how they over price 20 year old games that I can get free for my emulator. Then watch how they simply their games for children (notice how most of their games are easy now compared to how they used to be on the N64, NES, and SNES), they're no better than other devs. And the Zelda games have been getting worse and worse lately as well (aside from between worlds)
At least Xbox and Sony are attempting to bring new franchises. Xbox last year showed trailer for several exclusives: Crackdown, Gears of War, Quantum Break, Phantom Dust, Fable Legends, Scalebound. Not to mention sunset overdrive, halo and forza (the last two are the tired xbox franchises I know). That's surprising for a console mocked for having no exclusives.
God knows what is happening on the PS4 though. Apart from Bloodborne that system has been a mess in terms of exclusives (other than Uncharted 4 are there even any coming out?)
Keep your fanboyism out of this and use your brain

Right, says the over-sensitive fanboy with the Master Chief avatar talking. Nintendo not only has more exclusives like Pikmin 3, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, and Zombi U, but they're a lot better. Anybody that takes a step back and assesses the state of both all three consoles knows that the Wii U has so far been the best console. I'll take the Wii U's backsward compatibility over their shabby consoles anyday. Same with their VC. Same with their price tag. That console has it where it counts.
Also, that's enough about the Wii U for this thread. This thread has been going off-topic repeatedly.
