Pretty weird wish list for the next game, but I largely agree with it. You may like his loudmouth approach to the video, or not. Either way, I'd say pretty well-done overall.

Right, says the over-sensitive fanboy with the Master Chief avatar talking. Nintendo not only has more exclusives like Pikmin 3, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, and Zombi U, but they're a lot better. Anybody that takes a step back and assesses the state of both all three consoles knows that the Wii U has so far been the best console. I'll take the Wii U's backsward compatibility over their shabby consoles anyday. Same with their VC. Same with their price tag. That console has it where it counts.

Also, that's enough about the Wii U for this thread. This thread has been going off-topic repeatedly.

So an avatar of MC makes me an xbox fanboy? You must be a Disney fanboy then, given you have a star wars avatar. smh

The xbox one isnt that great of a console, its probably the weakest console MS has put out.

Ok, so I missed a 3 exclusives, one of which was a mediocre launch title. The system has a tiny library, because it has no third party support, and Nintendo seems to have their heads so far up their asses they dont care. Heavily outdated hardware and limited games makes the system EXTREMELY overpriced. There is simply nothing hard to understand.

And the VC is an outright rip off. The prices are ridiculous for the age of the games, not to mention the fact that I can go download them free online, and you play them in many better ways.

You know that Mario Maker game coming out this year? Yeah, you can use Lunar Magic on PC for free and make an entire mario game with CUSTOM sprites, bosses, worlds, music, game mechanics, etc. FOR FREE, with nearly 0 restrictions. A crappy PC program that has been out for over 6 years is BETTER than a full priced mario making game being released by Nintendo themselves. That is outrageous. The thing that is even more outrageous is the idiotic fanboys are just going eat it up.

Nintendo is a shadow of its former self, they used to be great. Damn shame if you ask me.

I wonder what the "new ideas" Aonuma talked about as the reason for the delay are.

Probably some dumb gimmick to incorporate the game pad in. I really hope they dont though, the map and inventory would all that'd be necessary for the gamepad screen

The N64 won't work in 10 years time or so, hence why backwards compatibility is kinda a thing that should be implemented, something that probably skipped over most of the console manufacturer's heads. It's also one of the major reasons why PC are the saving platform.

The "new" idea is actually the very same idea they implemented 9 years ago with TP; the delay is likely there to account for the NX release.

Also, let's not act like Pikmin and Monster Hunter suddenly are titles with a lot of appeal, or that ZombiU's reception was so universally positive that it can't be anything but a modern classic.

And while the Wii U's backwards compatability with the Wii is a nice addition, it does still require seperate hardware in the form of Wii controllers to function as well, so for a lot of people that's another paygate to get access to that extended library. And Virtual Console games are paid as well, even if you did own the original cartridges, so that doesn't exactly fall under b/c either. Even worse: if you already bought those VC titles on the Wii, you have to pay a seperate 2 buck fee to even get them on Wii U again.

It's somewhat better than an endless supply of Remasters and streaming services, but only barely. And let's not forget that a fair share of these VC games in Europe are still the nerfed 50Hz versions we got back in the day as well.

Not saying I agree with Rzibara's assessment of all those games either, but it is how the market at large sees those titles. I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't play most of those if I could, but certainly not for 60 bucks a piece after a 300 buck paygate to begin with. And it seems most people share that sentiment.

Past-me would've been content with another Gamecube-cheap console and games that do eventually drop in price, but if Nintendo really does has the intent of making themselves so irrelevant that they'll eventually be forced to release their games elsewhere... well, so be it then.

I don't  particularly hate the Nintendo franchises, not at all. I love Mario, Zelda, and Metroid. It would be nice to see new ones however, considering they've been milking the same ones for more than 20 years at this point. Or at least bring back some neglected ones that people like (F-Zero, EarthBound). At least they are finally bringing back Star Fox.

There is no denying that Mario and Zelda have been very casualized over the years. Constant hand holding, and the games arent particularly challenging either.

Compare any of the New Super Mario Bros. games to Super Mario Bros. 1, 3, or World, then you'll see what I mean.

Compare Paper Mario Sticker Star to Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario 64 or TTYD.

Compare the newer Yoshi's Island games to the original.

Compare how Zelda games are now compared to how they used to be. They have downgraded the games. It seems all they care about now is making sure they are easy enough for every child to play.

And like I said, about the VC, it's a ripoff that nintendo expects people to pay that much for 20 year old games that arent even updated, especially considering the already available methods to obtain them, that are perfectly legal. At least the remasters (while getting extremely annoying now) feature some improvements and additions (shouldnt be full price though).

It's a machine that has more exclusives than the Xbone and PS4 and better games as a whole. PS4/Xbone doesn't have something like Nintendo's Virtual Console. Nor do Sony and Microsoft do DLC right like Nintendo. Nor do they have the same respect for quality like Nintendo. PS4's had a port of The Last of Us, even when I just played it a year before that port was released Seriously, GTFO Sony. Come back when you bring me some actual greatness. And Xbone only has Halo... Oh yeah, and I guess Gears of War, which they haven't touched for a while. And maybe something about a temporary exclusive called Tomb Raider? Hmm, yeah, not looking too shabby, these current-gen consoles. And neither Microsoft or Sony have something like the 3DS. I don't know why I once put so much faith in Sony. Oh well, I guess. I suppose the cheaper console on the market aka the Wii U is so far winning this gen.

Your opinion is that of someone living in the past. Exclusives are not the be all, end all anymore for a console. In fact, they matter very little when your console has excellent third party support. Nintendo and their fans are playing up the first party because that's all they have.

Agreed on all of those series becoming progressively easier and easier, to the point where it feels like they're just treating you like a child nowadays. Lack of challenge also quite detracts from value in my eyes, no matter how adorable a game like Yoshi looks. I won't suffer through an entire game of handholding and infantilizing either in order to access one post-game world of stages that are a tiny bit more challenging either.

The neglected series are an issue in my eyes as well; supporting a Nintendo console is indeed no longer a guarantee that you'll get an F-Zero or a quality Metroid title anymore, and it hasn't been since Gen 6 either. For some inane reason they've allowed 2D Metroid to die an unnecessary death after the excellent GBA titles too, leaving them without anything in the genre now that Igavanias are a thing of the past as well. Hell, they even killed a Metroid project in favor of Luigi's bloody Mansion 2, which while I enjoyed the original was not exactly in need of a sequel. Then there's stuff like Golden Sun, which they've allowed to die a slow death and then brought back for a last mediocre entry... but meanwhile having Camelot make one Mario sports title after the other. Instead of dedicating themselves to making sure they stay a JRPG and Metroidvania powerhouse, they've allowed their own series to perish and let most of the rest of the genre slip away by now.

There's a good reason some people think there's too many Mario games instead of the ones that actually matter, and we were this close to getting a bloody Mario TPS this year as well.

As for playing up exclusives, I'd say Sony fanboys can do so equally obnoxiously or idiotically whenever they get the chance, at least going back to the PS2 era. Back then however it concerned actually worthwhile series that were third party but exclusive by "necessity", whereas after losing most of those the actual brand fanatics flocked to the more lackluster first-party exclusives (and whatever low-budget Japanese games remained exclusive, but they're losing those to Steam now too).

Bayonetta 2 and The Wonderful 101 are better than most of what's out there. Awakening and Bravely Default for 3DS is better. Pillars of Eternity and Divinity: Original Sin are better. Why bring up 2 PC games? Because they look better than the live-action and CGI trailers and commercials that don't represent the actual games. Or those gameplay trailers and demos that look better than how the games actually are. Oh, I sure want a bunch of broken games and more shooters coming to the closest GameStop nearby (sarcasm). Those graphical downgrades of games I can just as easily play on Steam sure are nice (sarcasm again). When I watched those South Park episodes about the PS4/Xboner rivalry (along with Game of Thrones, floppy weiners, and Black Friday), I found it just dismal how one character brought up connectivity or multimedia purposes or some **** like that for the Xbox Done like it was some sort of plus. I think TheChris echoed a lot of my sentiments on the console pretty well on the last page. I mean, what will I ever do without the Do Not Order 1886, a game that literally had you walking from one cutscene to the next. Sorry, but I think I'll take what Ninty is offering over that. Cheaper console with better first-party titles and that promise you exactly what they advertise along with a vast Virtual Console.

Not only does Nintendo's current home console offer games from the NES era to the N64 era and so forth, but you can play Wii games that have gone down in price. Nintendo has done more on offering a respite from games that do a shoddy job in taking advantage of the color palette. Never mind offering exclusives that are more consistent in terms of quality than those on the Xbox and PS4. Nintendo's current consoles such as the Wii U and 3DS have offered a better experience overall.

Also, I think it's high-time we stop with this discussion. We've' strayed too far away from the original topic.

And Nintendo is apparently taking fan suggestions now on what character they want to appear in the recent Smash.

Sooo... Ghirahim anyone?

May or may not voted for Bayonetta myself.
picgifs-bayonetta-621056.gif

Because I know it's not happening, but it'd be awesome if it did.

And even then I'd pick Zant before Ghirahim.

And really any of the following characters.

Zero (Megaman X)

Nightmare (Soul Calibur)

Gabriel Belmont (Castlevania LoS)

Hyrule Warriors Impa

Solid Snake/Big Boss (Metal Gear)

Banjo and Kazooie (Though that's never happening)

Hector (Fire Emblem 7)

and of course,

Cranky Kong

Ha. The irony of your first sentence is laughable.

And I'll have fun with the great games that Nintendo's consoles have, thank you very much. But moving on now.

So this launch schedule Nintendo published doesn't have Zelda listed for 2016 either, surprisingly enough (or perhaps not).

Just an ominous TBD, which makes it all the clearer that they never intended to release this game in 2015 to begin with.
