I think you're totally right. (My post earlier in the thread was more of an 'either/or' scenario)

I don't think women are looking for 'buffness' exactly (many are, but many aren't), but yes, I think most would prefer 'muscle' in general. This can simply mean 'lack of fat so muscle shows', or a significant tone, or then, actual buffness and thick muscles. There comes a point where that's too much though, so I gotta feel a bit bad for some of the super bodybuilders that might not clue in that they're reaching a point where it gets grotesque - in terms of sexually and romantically attracting others.

Very wisely said all of this. The muscles has to show as the least imo to be attractive for me and too much is not good either like those huge bodybuilders, pretty much what you said up there.

And her needs can't be met without having to carry her up and down stairs?

well lets see, the bedroom is on the 3rd floor, her office is on the 2nd, the living and dining rooms are on the first, so no they couldnt be, also she's hyperactive :D

Some chicks are into really skinny guys. I don't get it.

Depends what you mean by "into" and "skinny".

Keep in mind the three main body types- mesomorphic, endomorphic, ectomorphic.

You gotta work within your body shape. You can radically change your look, but there will always be what genetics gave you.

As for "into", are there actually girls out there that pursue the leanest of lean guys? Not talking lean muscle this time, I mean just lean in general. Like lean and light without workouts.

The slimmest of the shadies.

The few times I work out alone I always always make sure the safety pins are in place before benching or squatting. That sounds terrifying man.

Was a bit painful too. I was doing my finishing reps and was out juice anyway so I couldn't lift it off me. Had to roll it across my chest down to my belly for crouching since the weights were locked. Might have worked better if I just would have slammed one end to the floor and would have tried to push it aside. Wasn't thinking clearly though.

eh, i work out 4 times a week but that doesnt mean i like it or get the appeal of it, its mostly to counter my addiction to italian food :D

Yep.  Exactly.  Just did a kickboxing class so that I can have old fashioneds later tonight.  I only work out to be thin, not training to compete, not to be able to be strong or faster, I'm just vain.... well, and also to have a chance at surviving the inevitable zombie apocalypse.  One of the middle school kids I taught handicapped me at 50% after my foot surgery.  He told me I  wasn't too fat, but that the boot I was wearing was really making me a target.

Sure, if that's not your job.

Ever lift patients? They can destroy your back and spine, even with good mechanics.

Totally tweaked my back last week just giving a lady a boost up in bed.  We didn't even transfer her.  I think it's pretty much resolved now, but I gotta remember to be more careful.  More power to you, Rakia, but don't hurt yourself.

That's me.  I like em slender.  I think Channing Tatum is gross.  I mean, I like definition, but not muscle mass.  Like Jared Leto (not Dalla Buyer's club, that's just unhealthy) or Adrien Brody.

I think I'm in the minority, though.  Most of my girlfriends disagree with my taste in men.

I bench with dumbbells. I have special dumbbell bars that are longer than usual ones so I can put 65kg on each (without having to use the 20kg plates which are too big) and bench them. Using dumbbells is the only safe way to bench without a spotter, though I never had to drop them ever. I also find bench with dumbbells much harder and more effective to build strength because you have to stabilize them vertically, a barbell is much easier.

As for squats - I do front squats.

I do dumbell decline presses from time to time. But I havent ever flat pressed with dumbells. Might try that sometime.

And yeah, if your alone front squats are way safer lol.

Decline bench presses are one of my favorite exercises! When doing them on the flat bench there is a lot of shoulder involved, if you want to do more chest alone declines is the way to go. And they feel so good when you go heavy, currently I'm doing them 8 reps 120kg.

Its a really comfortable exercise.  :)

I have mostly trained bench just with the bar and not dumbbells. Only for stretching. Though my bicep was torn off about a year ago so I have used dumbbells more now to stabilize the re-inserted bicep muscle.

We're all just undercover because everyone knows nerds cannot be weight lifters. We cannot allow that stereotype to be destroyed! NEVER!  :P

Sorry to hear about what you're going through right now

Thank you. It's something I wouldn't want to wish on even my worst enemy. It's tough for everyone involved... especially her.

I don't know. Since I exercise almost as half as Johnnie Walker, I lost the Nerd trait.

I will never shake it :), even though I´ve had people come up to me and ask for stereoids since they thought I use them.  :P

Never used them and never will, I want to keep my head and body healthy.

Agreed. I want to work out to get as fit as possible, not to wreck myself, roids make no sense for me.
What most people don't know is that you can get surprisingly strong and physically capable without any kind of drugs and shakes, it will take you much much longer though and you'll need a really good refined exercise schedule.

Roids is only for those whose only goal it is to make their childhood dream come true of transforming into a balloon animal.

Indeed, I was working my way to get that 200kg from bench press just before my bicep was torn. Now it will just take a bit longer to get there.

200 is a lot - are you using regular form or power lifting form? And whats your grip width?

I do allow my back lift of the bench but keep my but in it. I don´t use any bench press skirts as some do, I want to achieve it raw. Usually my grip has been wide, about a palm wider from my shoulders but after the accident I have noticed that more narrow grip causes less pain in the shoulder (the bicep was torn off where it connects to shoulder). I´m not sure if I have to find a new routine for it or just try to have it accept my old one.
