I hate how only 3 items show up on the screen at once before having to start scrolling. Surely they could fix that...

Think console UI

Perhaps examples, or details of what you find wrong with the inventory screens and UI would help them get it right. Saying "this is bad." does little but saying "This would be better if it [fill in what needs changed]" gives whomever reads/hears you an idea of where to go to fix it.
I agree the PC UI could be better, it could have OPTIONAL additional hot bars that could be turned on or off in the options menu.
Inventory could have a sort by level, class or alphabetically feature users could select in the inventory panel.

Basically its designed with moving up and down with a controller in mind not a mouse and keyboard.
With kb+m its very finicky and clumsy..
This explains it pretty well for me

Unfortunately EA doesn't care much about its PC customers, after all from their point of view we are just potentional thieves and pirates.
You are not missing anything, we simply were lied to and tricked. Then we were promised they will improve the PC controls, but that was like 3 months ago. We were told that patch 3 will bring those improvements, but what did it bring? The walking toggle button, that console players have had since launch.
This (among other cases) serves as a reminder to never trust EA/BW ever again and in the future always wait for honest reviews before deciding if the game delivered:
EA doesn't really have to wake up and BW can't do anything abou it even if they wanted to. There will still be enough players to buy their games based solely on the hype.

I think the UI is acceptable for the PC. There are only a few minor problems.
Glitchiness. If the cursor is over a category but the highlighter is over another, clicking down will open the highlighted category, not the one the cursor is pointing at.
Scrolling down with the move keys causes the cursor to move with it, which is good, but in this case the information of the item does not update. Meaning, the cursor is automatically moved to a new item but the game still shows the information for the previous item. You have to move the cursor off the item and then back on, and this is annoying.
The only other thing I would change is how subcategories appear. If you open the weapons category while viewing a mage character, the subcategory should automatically be staffs, not "all weapons". Having to go in an select the staffs is annoying.
Same with other classes, though I know they have two or three possible weapon choices. In that case it should remember what category you had open last. For example, a rogue with a bow will have the subcategory open to bows automatically. If daggers looked at last in the weapons menu then that will open first when you go back to weapons. Same with a warrior with 2-H. It should always go to the 2-H weapons first unless you looked at the 1-H weapons or the shields.
Armors are obviously the same way. They should open as light, medium, or heavy based on class.
Other than that, I think I'm fine with this UI.

I don't think they do, that is why they invested in Denuvo DRM, which protected DAI from being pirated for like a month.

Oh, also a "sort" option would be nice. This would be helpful in crafting items. You could sort materials by their effect. Or, having this split up into subcategories would be good too.
For instance, I want to craft a weapon with stagger effect. So when I open a material's slot, there should be subcategories that display across the top. The default will always be "all materials". An icon for stagger could be clicked and then the menu would show only the materials that have stagger ability.
From there, you could sort by "best effect", or "by quantity". This too should remember your setting if you sort by best material, by quantity, or by name.

Thieves and pirates?
Really? I bought everything they had on sale for mass effect and dragon age series, Well not endlessly on multiplayer but every DLC and every game. Also I paid full price of DAI which wasn't cheap game, I think we deserve bit more than just being milked for our moneys and then getting dumped for console gamers.

Well, yeah.... but it's not like we realize that actually being thieves and pirates is what gets us treated like thieves and pirates.

Yes, really, this is the companies' view on us PC players. That is why we see ridiculous always-online DRMs, sometimes double DRMs, lousy console ports, deliberately gimped games, games that take forever to be ported on PC so companies can make the players to buy it on consoles first, and so on. I also bought every DA and ME game and all their DLCs except Genesis. I also think we should be treated with more respect, since PC as the most powerful among all platforms is the main driving force behind progress. The companies even make more money for each copy sold on PC than on consoles, because they don't have to pay licensing fees etc. to Sony and Microsoft. PC modders are making the games better for the developers for free, prolonging the games' life and increasing their replayability. And yet we still hold the shorter end of the stick here. Simply because there are more console players, they are usually easier to market games to and they can't pirate the games as easily.
There still some big developers who respect their PC fanbase, either because their games just can't be played on consoles and they know and realize exactly who their target audience is and what they want (Paradox Development Studio with their grand strategies for example) or because they choose so for one reason or other (CD Projekt for example).

Yet there are still some companies that don't take us all for pirates and in return there are many players who pirate almost all the games they play who will buy games from said companies just to support them in what they are doing.

Anywho, I love Dragon Age as you can tell but I'm really tired of console-type games and I'm really considering switching over to buying mainly indie PC RPG games. I've heard that Divinity - Original Sin is a good example. I just crave good old-fashioned type PC RPGs - with nice UIs that make sense for PC. I agree that the inventory system is frustrating. It takes up way too much space. Only being able to see a couple items at a time is tres annoying. I wish it was sorted better too. It annoys me that, for example, when I compare a sword on one character with their currently equipped sword and then switch to another character to do the same, it sometimes switches to a completely different item and I have to scroll back up to find said sword.

Yep, you're missing that it's a crappy UI on both PC and consoles. Is there anything I am missing, I feel I must be because I cannot believe the once great bioware would release a game to PC in it's current state.
This inventory menu reminds of the one they did for ME1, probably the worst UI I've seen in a game whatever the platform. This one is marginaly better but I still loath wasting time with the constant back and forth between the various menus each time I have to check If what I looted can be used to upgrade my character and companion's equipment.
DAI's UI problem is not that it's a console one, it's that it's a bad one period. No scapegoat here.
