I went back to an older save, so that I could recruit Vivienne because I did not do so my initial run.   This time during Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts, the power of amulet for Vivienne was not in the vault loot ( a week ago when I initially did the quest, it was there.)  I searched for this problem (no Vivienne amulet in vault) and found this discussion on reddit where others posters noticed that all the known companion amulets of power are missing since the recent patch:

I suspect in the fix to keep people from exploiting multiple amulets by re-looting chests, they bugged it.  Perhaps, they moved them, but no one is reporting finding them somewhere else so far.

Dunno, I can't see Bioware screwing up loot that badly (remember how you could get multiple Carsomyr +6 swords if you just took the sword and left the rest of the loot? No, I don't either)

Yep, the power amulet for the inquisitor in the fade quest 'Broken Window' is missing as well. Apparently, the 'loot exploit' fix that was mentioned in the patch notes was removing the ability to farm power amulets. In fixing this exploit, they borked power amulets.

Once again Bioware proves that they can't fix anything without breaking something else. FML.

Wonder if you will be out of luck or if the amulets will be given after the fact if you did loot where they should have been because you would not be able to go back to some of them, like the Vivienne one, if they fix it later.

I hope they are alerted of this and fix it. Considering you can't really put your attribute where you want them to this time around, the amulets could help eventually get you to that passive for the points you want.

Also, being a single player game (I could see in a multiplayer game like an MMO), who cares if people exploit looting.  Taking/bugging an intended feature out of the game is far worse.

I can confirm that Varric's amulet from Valammar, both Dorian's amulets from the Western Approach, and Vivienne's in the Winter Palace are all missing for me in an in-progress game.

Other people have noted that no dragons drop amulets anymore, Cole's doesn't drop in Emprise du Lion, Cassandra's is missing from Therinfal, and the player amulet that you're supposed to get in the Fade doesn't spawn anymore.

This is really wrecking my playthrough at the moment; I can try to bypass the chests and not kill any dragons (and hope that the amulets are there whenever they fix this), but I'm getting really close to the Winter Palace, and as noted you can't ever return there, so I'll be stuck at that point until they can issue a fix (and since this is for all platforms, it seems less likely they'll choose to do a hot fix, meaning it would be next month sometime).

I doubt they'll fix it.

I understand that bug fixes occasionally have unexpected consequences, but this... I... nah. I don't have the words.

And this patch was extensively Beta tested? Did they add this 'fix' between then last Beta and release?

Well, they didn't remove all amulets of power. The amulets that are collected through war table missions are still available. Regardless, you'll still be able to manage without those amulets.

Came to chime in. Same is happening to me. One of a couple minor annoyances (I'm also starting to have disappearing mobs).

I wanted to point out that amulets dropped by dragons disappeared as well. After finally getting proper gear I decided to kill all three dragons in Emprise and none of them dropped amulet :/

If you're strong enough to kill those dragons, you don't need the amulets.

I'm pretty sure they will fix it in the next patch. For instance, you still get the "loot the amulet" text in the Fade, although there is no amulet, which is pretty lame. We'll see who's right.

Oh, not that I bother about amulets. You can go on without them (really, how many skill points you need with 8 skill slots...).

I just wanted to let everyone know that dragons are also missing amulets... in case someone wanted them.

Y'all would save yourselves a lot of angst if you flip this on its head and assume those amulets were never supposed to be in those places to begin with and this patch fixes that.

Yeah. I imagine they'll handle that eventually. I can understand them wanting to handle the dupe exploit - although it's been in every DA game thus far and still isn't patched in Origins if I remember correctly - but aside from that, not being able to assign attributes and having to depend on respective perks can make things much more tedious than they need to be.
