The passives are largely worthless. A power-game build isn't going to turn on a few extra-passives, and "getting all possible abilities in existence" isn't really power-gaming when the game isn't designed for it

I disagree with you.  I'm still not sure what it has to do with the topic, really.  You find them worthless, others don't.

Well, no. The game was designed so that characters have something like 3-4 more ability points besides leveling. Part of it may well have been because (as we see in the posts regarding the side quests) Bioware assumed people would be underdeveloped and only complete like 40-50% of the content (e.g. finishing the game at level 16-18 or whatever). It may well be that because people are more completionist than expected, Bioware re-balanced.

And what I said was that it is EA/Bioware's problem, since they're job is to offer a particular product. If you want to try and break it, go hog wild, but they're not responsible for supporting your efforts to break it.

Do you know this or are you just assuming/making stuff up?  Once again if you have something from BW/EA I'd love to see it.  To me that's not what the evidence is showing.  I think you're just finding a narrative that fits.

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but it seems like it's down to just one for everyone. I got one for Varric, Sera, Blackwall, Bull, Solas, Cole and the Inquisitor (still in Crestwood) so far in my current playthrough (haven't done the Winter Palace yet).

Anyway, I can't say that I'm really missing much with having just one amulet. My Inquisitor is rather overpowered now even with just the one, and I haven't unlocked the ability point you get from the Inquisition perks menu yet. There's also the added bonus of crafting materials, so if I don't have enough to get through that ability point to get to a passive for my rogue, I can easily gain more cunning or dexterity than that passive point would offer in my armor and its add-ons.

I think PC players can already fix this issue on their own, either with mods or cheat engine.

I personally think its idiotic and lazy programing and criminal. Ruins the game as in its original purchase form. Makes the Dragon Keep Tapestry useless if you want to keep the amulets. STEALS from the customers, from the original product they bought. Metaphor: (I bought a (whatever car) and now they came to my home and removed my radio from my car) Same point in legal standards. They can be sued for such a thing, look it up. We need Gamer Lawyers. I know a few who are working on that. Its wide open, and most of it is left up to the judges, since there is little to no laws truly protecting the gamer. It would have to refer to other like laws, and contracts and common sense laws. And guess what...in most cases I have had trouble with, you win by sheer default honest principles alone. They don't want to face charges of fraud, extortion...and other terms that I get lost in. depends on game/company. I ran into these issues with Microsoft, now they don't give me any trouble, yet. They normally will be more than willing to solve the issue on a personal level in house, even if they must refund the item in question, because its better than the end result of them having to pay court fees and all the other things the court demands. At least Microsoft is getting the point, 'you ****** (make angry) off customers, you loose customers, and their friends and family'. And the bottom line market shows it. A lot of gamers just end up switching to a new hobby all together. Its like quitting smoking or quit eating junk food. The smarter ones, stronger ones have little to no problem with making the healthy change. I have been increasingly disappointed in most game companies and even the games they release. My games are much better. make em myself, enjoy em with myself or friends/ fam etc. SO yeah time to get that refund for the dlc. I will just play it Vanilla and no more games from biospear (me through the heart) nah I wont even play vanilla I think unless I can find a fix, or work around. Time for a new hobby. If your leaning to improve game/customer relations from this wall of text, then good. If you are refusing to learn, then do us all a favor and quit making games. Cause it really sours the experience. Some people are week minded and don't mind the bitter/sourness. Some are not and don't mind doing whatever it takes to solve the issue, if even just personally. And yes I am going to Screen shot this and fwd it on to various companies and such IN CASE this issue becomes something MORE. If I can find a decent work around I will post. If I can find any peace for a customer to rely on, I will post, God willing and if I am able to. Sorry so long winded. It just hurts like crap...when you find out after MANY hours/days/months/years of hard work.

It boggles my mind how this is in anyway a priority. Imagine if they had put as much effort into developing Blood Magic...

I'm confused. Amulets of power not in the game makes the Dragon age keep useless?

Yeah, I have no idea what this person is on about.

by "makes the keep useless" they mean that if you want to play a game with Amulets of Power actually being a thing (either for a legitimate run or to do the exploit), you need to not download the patch which means you need to stay offline when you play Inquisition which also locks you out of the ability to use the Keep since you need to connect to their servers to access it, but you can't access the servers unless you patch the game.

for example, I'm still in Patch 1.0.2 because I wanted to abuse the Amulet of Power, Materials Dupe, and Infinite Influence exploits on the playthroughs I managed to make before the patch fixed it. So I always stay offline when I happen to play Inquisition (and I don't plan on updating until Jaws of Hakkon goes on sale on PSN).

Given the 8-ability limit, I don't understand how anyone can go into such a reactionary tirade about AoPs.  I struggle to find good uses for ability points after Level 20 or so.  And now with JoH, I've gotten as high as Lv 27.

You'll lose the materials and influence, but you can freely dup any equipment (including amulets) in the party storage chest added in one of the later patches (which will help with influence, since you can get unlimited gold by selling your dups). (I don't think they've patched it, and I'm guessing they never will, since they knew about it before it was even released.)

As for the amulets themselves, all characters should have access to two at most, except Dorian and Sera, who can only get one (unless they've added more in somewhere). The way it's set up, it would be impossible to collect all amulets in a single playthrough, but all characters except Dorian should have one guaranteed amulet (assuming you recruit them and talk to them and get approval, if necessary, to trigger some of their war table operations).

So, did we ever get a reason from BW as to why most of the amulets were removed or are we still speculating?

I played through AFTER Trespasser DLC and can confirm it IS possible to get ALL AOP's for duping in Skyhold storage chest.

I have uploaded proof on my Youtube channel if anyone wants to verify.

It's necessary to be very careful in order to not lose 99% of missions - including Companion quests - the only major drawback is that it's necessary to sacrifice Bull's Chargers in order to get Dorian's AOP - but even then you can do all of Bull's quests minus a couple minor one's that involve the chargers.

Most of them are fairly straightforward and it helps that Dorian's is the last to get considering the loss of the Charger's being the price.

Anyway I'll happily post the video link proof and answer any specific amulet questions you might have. Just ask :)

*I DO intend to post the specific location and procedures for each Amulet but it will take some time to put my notes together. I just wanted to get this out there in case anyone was holding off on replaying after Trespasser because they thought all the Amulets were gone.

ALL Amulets of Power AFTER Trespasser DLC proof.

I was able to get all AOP's so I could dupe them in Skyhold chest and the only sacrifice - sadly - is Bull's Chargers but virtually all quests and missions are still intact.

But that's just cheating. It absolutely lacks the wonderful sensation when you finds an AoP during exploration or after combat.

Well of course it's cheating but so is removing every single amulet drop from the game which DOES limit how many abilities your character can unlock. That's on Bioware and it was wrong. Its never been done with any of the previous DA's.

Look, this is MY copy of the game. I play in SP only AND I've played through with no cheats twice all the way through to the Trespasser DLC. I'm damn well gonna play it through this time using the exploits and I've been enjoying the hell out of it. Its nobodys damn business how I choose to play my game and nobody has the right to tell me I'm doing it wrong or ruining the way its "supposed" to be played. I'm not saying you're saying that but too many people here do think they have the right to tell other people how they should play. They're wrong.
