errrrummmm.... I recall several times when my internet connection was down, Steam allowing me to 'Start in Offline Mode' and play my games. Haven't experienced it on Origin, but I would think they would almost certainly have to have the same feature.

I tried to play my brother's (hard) copy of DA2 on my PC the other day and it would NOT let me play unless I was connected to the internet and logged into HIS origin account.

This whole charade basically murders the used game market. Thanks, EA. Pr*cks.

Yeah, my DVD version of DA2 required connecton to EA servers every once in a while (don't remember if it was once in 24 hours or once in a few days though).

This one is a weird version. It says on the cover of the box that internet connection is required. Every time I play it, it demands it. If I had bought this game used, I would not be able to play it.

Three of these, hmm? This is the part where I direct you to the first link in my signature (I really wish they would allow images in signatures so I wouldn't have to keep doing it this way) and point out that in your case, I actually know which it is: It's both.

Ehh, PC used games market died like 10 years ago, completely. There is nothing left to murder anymore.

And back then it started on the entire PC gaming front line, so you can't blame EA only.

Internet connection is required only once - to authorize the copy on the PC through the Origin. After that you no longer need connection anymore, you can play your game with 0 internet connection as long as you wish.

Of course if you take this copy to another PC, you will have tu re-run authorization process again.

PS. That was just my explanation to help you understand it better. In no way I feel like defending anything of this.

My opinion about DRMs in general and about the devs who decide to use them in their games is to harsh to put it here - I would get permaban right way.

Yeah, that was kind of the point. Although xkg has a point about it mostly dying years ago.

Well, I have not played DA2 via Origin yet. But when I bought my retail DVD copy back in 2011 it really required an internet connection every once in a while. It was many times described to us how often by our local EA branch office to avoid any confusion, but I now don't remember the number. But it was the first BW game in my country to not require a DVD to be present in the DVD drive all the time, so it was kinda better... Less hassle, if you managed to log on to EA servers every once in a while.

Only if it does not require an internet connection in Offline mode.
