So with as many times as I have played DAO I have yet to try the following combination... So I don't even know if it would/could work.

Could your HoF harden Alistair, and put him on the throne AND save Loghain by giving him to the Wardens? or does the thought of saving the traitor turn Alistair into a brat who runs off to get drunk in Kirkwall?

I've been tempted to either do a play through where Alistair and my HoF marry and yet spare Loghain if possible. OR try the same combination but have Alistair and Anora wed, spare Loghain.

Has anyone tried this?

I suppose though a hardened Alistair would simply take the throne without Anora so maybe not harden him?

If you save Loghain, you lose Alistair.

There is no in between. Alistair refuses to work with Loghain. He can agree to marry Anora if he's hardened, but that's the only way he'll agree to marry Anora but he'll still leave your party in a temper tantrum if he doesn't get his way.

Eamon will reveal at Redcliff if Alistair chooses to marry Anora that Alistair is out recruiting and getting banns on line to fight the darkspawn, but is refusing to fight.

So Alistair will be king with Anora but won't be a selectable party member? Loghain will instead? I don't expect both to be in my party and selectable but I'm simply curious if I can make Alistair king, rule with Anora and take Loghain with me.

My goal is for my world status in DAI to have Alistair and Anora ruling Ferelden. But I would like Loghain to survive. I don't care if Alistair has a tantrum and leaves the group so long as he remains in power as king with Anora.

I'm positive this is possible in game and in keep, just make sure to have MaleHoF/Loghain perform DR with Morrigan or have the HoF perform the Ultimate Sacrifice.

Yes, it is possible. To achieve this:

1) Alistair must be hardened from his personal quest.

2) Alistair must NOT be the one who duels Loghain.

3) Alistair and Anora must have agreed to marry before the Landsmeet.

If all these are met, you can choose to spare Loghain, and Alistair will stick around as King.

Actually, Alistair will agree to marry Anora even if he isn't hardened, but that may only work if you don't spare Loghain.

On a related note, is there any way to gain Anora's support and still have my character rule as Queen alongside Alistair without double-crossing Anora?  (I suspect the answer is no, but if there's a way for my F!Cousland to avoid double-crossing anyone, she'd rather take it.)

Ummm... no. If you want Anora's support, you have to make an agreement with her before the Landsmeet and not tell her you intend to execute Loghain.

But if you want Akistair on the throne with you beside him, then you must execute Loghain.

That's kinda what I figured, but I had to ask anyway.

Really? I got a different line that mentioned him insisting on going and "putting himself in danger" and thus I figured that he decided to fight as a King, not a Warden. Well away from Loghain's presence, but still making a difference.

I'm not sure why that video is labeled "Side with Loghain." It does kinda start with humiliating Loghain and then end with forcing him to drink poison.

Um, no. You don't have to side with Anora. Well what I mean is, Eamon tells you what to do in this situation - he tells you to make sure that Anora trusts you and is on your side, you need to make her believe you support her. This is Eamon's strategy, then what happens is you betray her at the Landsmeet and choose Alistair as solo king, or you can choose to rule beside him. I have only done the former, and it was quite funny, she gets mad at you for electing Alistair.

Unless I'm misunderstanding the question? It has to go one of two ways, you tell Anora that you intend to support Alistair for the throne and she will act pretty calmly about it, then at the Landsmeet she turns on you(resulting in a big fight with Loghain and his men), or you tell her you will support her, then at the Landsmeet you betray her and support Alistair. So you betray or get betrayed.

You can get betrayed by Anora and avoid the big fight. All you have to do is get enough support (from Vaughn and the noble who supports you if you do Trial of Crows, for example; in fact I think they might both be necessary) to balance out the support you lose from Anora decrying you.

The conditions for Loghain and Allistair appearing in DA:I are as follows:

1) Alistair is Hardened.

2) Convinced Alistair and Anora to wed.
3) Alistair does not duel Loghain.
4) You do not ask Alistair what to do after the duel.
5a) A Male Warden or Loghain goes through with Morrigan's Dark Ritual.
5b) Warden slays the Archdemon, sacrificing himself for all of Thedas.

This means that a female Warden can't rule with Alistair and have Loghain survive...maybe you can maintain a romance with him, I don't know.

Nope, no romance.

well my current play through has just begin but I'll keep all this in mind.

He's a male dwarf noble who will either romance Morrigan or Leliana. He'll perform the dark ritual. But I'll see that Alistair is hardened and he and Anora are convinced to be wed. I'll be sure to duel Loghain with my dwarf and then spare him to the wardens. This way I should see Loghain with Hawke in DAI and Alistair + Anora in Redcliffe.

Oh, yeah, I remember that now.  Honestly, between sparing Vaughn and betraying Anora, betraying Anora sounds like the better choice.  My F!Cousland doesn't have any particular reason to care about city elves, but if the choice is between sparing a rapist and betraying a queen you're not sure you can trust anyway...

No, it's a somewhat hamfisted situation. There are many lingering questions. Why does it have to be loghain? Why can't we make him a warden and then punish him after? Why would Alistair abandon fighting the blight right when we're about to end it despite being fully committed minutes ago? Why can we only make one person a warden?

All and all it's rather forced, not unlike the "save everything" option in red cliff. I tend to ignore it. I just have Alistair fight Loghain because he kills him on the spot, you don't get the chance to make him a warden. So the stupidity has no opportunity to present itself.
