Can you really blame us? These should have already been in the game.

Pfft... Hundreds of things should have been in the game. Too bad game dev doesn't work that way :P

Hey! I didn't post to a complainy thread, I posted to a "wouldn't it be cool thread". No negative vibes please, they just get me down.

I would love a shin kick (or higher). While the antagonist is jumping up and down on one leg (or curled up on the ground) the rogue gets to attack him with armour penalties and then jump clear. Maybe not for heavy armour antagonists though.

1- UI improvement:  10 ability slots instead of 8.  8 is not enough, and I keep forgetting to change them before combat.  Even then, it's immersion breaking to have to go into each characters ability screen and select the 8 that you think you will use.  If I have 10 abilities, I want to have access to 10 abilities during combat.

2- Better tactics screen/options.  I loved the DAO tactic screens and the hundreds of options.  I spent hours juggling the options to get just the right combination.  I also know not everyone loved it, and some tactics were somewhat obscure.  We'll never go back to that I know, but something more involved than what we have now.

3- A hold command that actually works in combat.  I ran into a puzzle recently that basically required that I separate my party and have them hold certain positions.  I was so shocked that it really worked.  But it still is useless in combat.  There are times I'd like to set up ambushes or make a stand in an archway/doorway, but it just won't work that way.

I don't yet have the game, was thinking about getting it this friday.

Are you seriously telling me there's only EIGHT spell/ability slots?

and that there's no method of getting your party to hold position?

I found out about how there's no click-to-move function a few days ago while randomly browsing some review sites, and no auto attack (though apparently this has now been patched in).

Been waiting so long to play this game, even to the extent of saving up for a new PC. Now I'm actually having some doubts.. about the mechanics/combat side of things at any rate - hopefully the story and companion intereraction is top notch.

It's not all been totally and catastrophically dumbed down has it? I mean you can still allocate abilities and spells to your party and allocate stats such as strengh, cunning etc? You can still equip your characters and party members with weapons and armor?

Right now it wouldn't surprise me to learn that I couldn't swap companion's gear, or allocate stat points, or some other ridiculous thing. Hope I'm just being paranoid?

That's not really an excuse. These things should have been implemented during development, both DAO/2, and many other RPG games had a tooltip on the skill bar, it's kind of a staple thing for PC players to expect and you were able to zoom in and out during combat. Saying hundreds of things should have been in the game is subjective, I don't necessarily believe it is true but apparently you do..

And what do you mean game dev doesn't work that way? We, the fans, the ones who help support this game, are free to say what we believe should have been in the game, depends on if they want to listen to us or not. I'm not asking for anything drastic, it seems fairly simple to do with all the knowledge they have. Use the same tooltip in the powers menu and apply it on the skills to the power bar. For the camera, they just need to find a way to unlock it instead of lock it.

I don't know, not trying to be blunt or anything but I'm hoping for these things even after the game has been out for a few months....

Unfortunately it kind of has, in some ways.
No you  cannot allocate stats any longer....which I hate.
The only tactics are "do this", "do this a lot" "don't do this" - which I hate even more, I loved the old tactics. It was one of the reasons why I fell in love with the game.

You can swap all of the companions gear, armor, weapons, belts, amulets and rings and the crafting system is in my option one of the best I have seen :)
I do hate that you now make lyrium potions with elfroot - that is stupid to me. I would have liked to see you findin lyrium veins in the same way you find logging camps.

Overall, it's too dumbed down in my opinion but to the games defense it is still very enjoyable and I really like it.
