I just game. I am not a techie. I click, continue, and the game goes from my last save game. It just is not dropping loot.

It's possible patch 5 requires a new game to "start fresh", so to speak . Especially if certain changes affected the file record structure.
Were you guys able to apply patch 5 and load a pre-patch 5 file save? did that then result in these problems?
Just asking
Easier said than done when you've invested 150+ hours into a game.

I'm seeing problems on my old game (pre-patch) and a new one (post-patch) - so it doesn't seem to matter when you created the game; once you've uploaded the patch it activates across all files; or at least that's my experience of it.

I just do not want to start a new game. I dont like fetch quests too much in a non MMO.

Umm yes I have this but idk if it's something related to patch 5. Especially when I hunt animals I seldom get any loot, like 66% of time no loot.

No I tested that. I started a brand new character and leveled up to 20. About half the available amulets are missing.

Well I tried starting a new game now after a fairly long hiatus and now I have loot respawning randomly at my feet. It's very annoying especially when the loot takes some time to register. My first Instinct is to run up the body, but then I see the loot pile on the other side where I first stood. I also have missing amulets of power. Something is definitely up with the looting after Patch 5.

It's been that way since release.

My big issue is with spiders, and more aptly spider glands. You need spider glands for some rune recipes and hunting them is a PINA. I went to storm coast where that orb that supposedly hinders rift formation is, you know the large cave complex by the river, spiders spawn there in batches of 3-6...only MOST of the time you kill them and nothing, and then they throw other mobs at you and THEY drop crappy loot you don't give a crap about and it seems maybe one in 10-15 spiders will actually drop the darn spider gland. Its almost as if bioware want you to spend hours and hours farming for mats to make runes for your weapons. I wanted to make a dragon bane rune [or whatever its called] and you know what? It took me well over an HOUR to get enough for one rune. Why Bioware, why, if you FINALLY allow respawning mobs, something you never really done in previous titles will you choose to hinder the chance of loot so much? It should not be like this. The chance for loot from spiders as example should be one in two, or one in three at worst. Not one in 15-16-17 more...its like getting blood from a stone this is.
The worst thing of all, is that in skyhold you can buy unlimited amounts of that other material you need to make runes, as in the blank rune essence or whatever its name is. What Bioware are doing here is nothing short of trolling.

If you're on PC there's some new mods on the Nexus that put back the Amulets of Power and increase the drop rate of schematics, research stuff, materials, etc. Maybe that'd help? >:

<360...
I do have a PC and am in fact using it now but I don't have Inquisition on it. I would consider it, but my tower HP pavilion can only handle mid range graphics while keeping a respectable framerate for new titles, and I am loath to spend £40+ on a game I will not get the right graphical quality out of, especially with the issues I have been informed about to do with the PC port...that compounded with my inability right now to get the right kind of hardware makes it unlikely that I will get DAI on computer.
