It seems like a really small tweak, just add a 'SDTV' option from the options menu to pump up the font size or something. To me and many others, this is a critical and necessary patch. Bioware, please address this problem as soon as possible.

I'm sure this just slipped through the cracks, as anyone on the bioware team or involved in testing would have utilized rather competent hardware as far as screens go. We just need to make sure this comes to the attention of those who can make a difference, and hope the fix is relatively simple.
In the mean time I recommend soldering a microscope lens onto your XBL headset, and begin the process of shopping for a seeing eye dog.

PC web browsing application compatability across different web browsers is not an accurate analogy. That being said, as a Mac user who relies on Safari and Firefox I applaud your company's effort.
Bioware/EA will not prioritize this issue any time soon, if ever at all. You can call the small text a defect, but if that's the case it was an intentional defect.
At some point companies need to stop holding the hands of the sheeple and force them to do things they would otherwise not do. This is why back in 2007 the FCC required that all new TVs be digital, and later that all broadcasts be switched over to digital as well last year. Yes people complained, whined, and moaned, but they eventally dealt with it.
Change is constant, you can't sit and complain that technology is passing you by and expect companies to cater to you forever because you have not been willing to upgrade.
You choose to not upgrade, sadly you pay the price for not doing so by missing out. If that means you can not play Mass Effect 2 the way it was meant to be played, then that's sadly your loss. Videogames and entertainment are luxuries, not a given right. Sorry to be that harsh, but it's the truth.
Bioware/EA are alienating some customers, true. They are however a company with a forward stance towards things. It's not their job to make sure little 17 year old Timmy sitting in his mom and dad's basement playing on a TV built to handle the original NES, can read the text in Mass Effect 2 for the Xbox 360. It is however their job to put out a mature game, running on a "next gen" system, outputting at HD Resolutions. That's what I bought and paid for, I'm sorry that some of you out there didn't.
Comparing the digital conversion to this does not work as last I checked those boxes do not cost $150+ and I recall hearing that the government was giving out coupons or something of the sort for people who needed those boxes. On top of that it is pretty likely an oversight as recent Bioware/EA games have not had these small text problems, on a final note you really shouldn't say what a company will or will not do unless you work for the company in question.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one! I have a 40" HDTV and it looks so teeny.
So it still looks small on a 40-inch HDTV?
That's depressing.

Here's hoping that something can be done in an update that will solve this issue. And to all those trying to hijack the post because they have no problem reading the text, GREAT! go back to playing and quit preaching to the rest of us.

The analogy holds because we are not talking about a small minority, we are talking about 41% of the US population. This is not a small minority. What makes it a bad business decision is that it alienates nearly half of your market, not simply "some people".
And it is true that companies do sometimes have to make moves that force people to upgrade (like stopping support for old OS's or discontinuing parts), and if that is the case, they make an announcement of it. I do not believe Bioware has made any statement that they are not going to support non-HD televisions for their games, especially since DA:O recently came out and the text reads just fine.
Of course, it would help if, as Thoovoo pointed out, if someone from the company would give some acknowledgment of the issue.

You don't need to have Xbox LIVE. Live -only- affects online play. You can still get updates and DLC and everything; you just need an internet cord plugged in.and i don't have xbox live either, having the patch on the disc would be nice

I don't know anything about internet connections in Silicon Valley, so I don't know how that's a problem. In any case, they are never going to release a patch disc. We'd be lucky for an online update within a month. Anyway, just have some way for the 360 to be connected online.gorezeelar wrote...

Beyond that, it's agreed. I stopped playing since I can't enjoy it. Squinting totally breaks the immersion.

recents game do that, including Borderlands and my personal favorite, Fallout 3
god how i love the text in fallout, the game itself is fully-packed and has a complex as hell HUD and still managed to pull out decent wording
Bioware, you guys really failed at designing subtitles
did you guys even tested the game?
