I installed the game, entered the Product key during install, then logged in here and entered the Cerebus key and the pre order and other keyse. I downloaded all the DLC executables, and the tried to play. It passed the first check for the game being released. It then asked me to log in. I logged into EA account and it said that my product key wasn't valid, buy the game. I entered the activation key, it said it can't validate with that key. I tried the Cerebus key, it just hangs on the Acitvation window forever. Tried again with the activation key, it hung on the activation key for over 20 min.
Which key do they want here and why won't it activate?

I just browsed in to the binary folder in install directory, right clicked the Mass Effect 2.exe and ran as Administrator. Went through the process again, put in the activation key, and it worked, slightly painful, but at least it's past. I don't feel like anyone will care, but the 3 hours I spent on this was valuable time lost in a schedule without much free time. These retarded activation schemes temp me to find torrents for future releases, though I've always wanted to support my favorite games.

I've been having a similar issue. I purchased the game through Gamestop download and received my activation code tonight.
The same problem dpaul had with activation after the game was installed. I've tried running the game as an administrator and then entering the code with no success. If anyone's got any insight, it'd be lovely as this is completely preventing access to the game.

Wow, I think I figured this out. I download from Direct-2-Drive, and was just getting a blank screen when I tried to activate. You should have two keys - a CD product key (20 digits long) and a Cerberus Network Activation Key (16 digits long). Here's what worked for me:
1) Do what Kepha describes in the 3rd post of this thread, using your Cerberus Network Activation Key: http://social.biowar.../index/1176449. Make sure you actually see the various downloadable content on the "user entitlements" page, and make sure you use the same email account that you log in to the game with.
2) Register the game here, using the product CD key.http://social.bioware.com/user_bw_games_register.php
3) After that, start the game on your computer. Login with the same account. Use the product CD key to login when asked to activat the game. Sometime the server is slow, if it doesn't work within 15 seconds, start over.
