In a way, I almost hope it's cancelled. ME3 may have been a less-than-good way to end a trilogy, but if 4 comes along and EA's poisoned it beyond repair then that'll be the last memory of ME we'll have before Bioware inevitably gets axed, just like EA does to every company it gobbles up and ruins. After ME3 and Inquisition I honestly don't think Bioware's capable of making another game like they used to, and whether it's EA or themselves or both or us to blame I don't know. What I do know is I'd rather have no ME game ever again than have a fourth installment that's absolute crap. Bioware's qualitatively a dying husk, their old Origin and ME1 days of quality and gameplay taken over by shareholders and EA suits who view all of us as subhuman worth only as much money as we have in our pockets. Bioware themselves have become absolutely infected from the core out with social-justice-warrior views and pro-Tumblr attitudes, whether for PR purposes or genuine misguided faith, and as such we're not going to get a game from them that isn't laden with social commentary set in a hugbox world where no one will ever offend anyone. It's a sterile, dull, dead, lifeless environment, but it's what's popular, it's what makes money, and EA knows that. They'll drive Bioware with lash and chain to slave away to pander while simultaneously dumbing-down and watering-down actual game quality for the sole purpose of chopping out content to package as DLC, or multiplayer modes to shoehorn in no matter how poor of a fit it is. Yet, EA will always have the purse-strings, and you can bet that money will fly the way of game critics and every game after will be getting perfect reviews, soda and chip sponsorships, and the works, and every armchair lefty on Tumblr and elsewhere will praise the day "diversity and acceptance", otherwise known as entitlement, trumped quality and gameplay in video games. No, I don't think ME4's dead, but I honestly wish it was, and I wish it will be. I can't even begin to consider anything after DA:O to be canon. I don't want to have ignore yet another game canon-wise in my other favorite series because of a second BiowarEA mistake.
Longer rant than I intended but that's my two pennies on the subject.
