nope, not my computer, I have 30 ping and 0 packet loss to a server 500km from me

You do realize that this statement is completely irrelevant and really does not prove that your computer is configured properly. I am not saying that your computer is configured incorrectly, to be clear, but rather that this one statement is not representative of proper configuration. That is all.

There is no lag when you join a match and can't move. Other people and enemies move smoothly and you can use your abilities normally. You can even move around using some abilities. So it's obviously not caused by a bad connection.

The problem with loading into a match unable to move does not have to do with latency, per se, so you would likely not see any signs of lag. It is essentially failed synchronization between the host player and you. Normally, when synchronizing a host to clients, there is a failure threshold that will either reload or cancel the synchronization if a certain "acceptable" synch rate is not met, which in DAIMP would see you either kicked back to the lobby or having an even longer loading screen.

Unfortunately, part of the netcode that DAIMP seems to use has a extremely poor synchronization monitoring. That is only one of the many issues I can see with the netcode from my perspective. If I were to look at the coding itself, I can imagine I would likely be torn between fainting, vomiting, blind homicidal rage, and/or self-mutilation. Considering that I am not prone to any of those, and do not relish the idea of suffering them, I think it's a safe statement to say I am happy I am not working on the network coding for Dragon Age.

Your imagination is not a good source for statistical evidence.

This is a very true statement. Conjecture is never a replacement for facts.

because of their strict region filtering

Please understand the difference between "filtering" and just poorly coded match-making. BioWare and/or EA are not "filtering" players in DAIMP match-making, especially by region. It is simply that the match-making services are so poor that I really think it defaults to a basic ping test to match players, which is not only an inaccurate method of measuring latency, but it would also invariably lead to certain regions becoming isolated within themselves (i.e. NA, EU, Oceana, etc.)

And no, it is not a valid argument to say that even though you are not region filtered is still technically is filtered because you are being isolated geographically. Please understand the difference between filtering, which is an active attempt to exclude, and bad coding, which unintentionally excludes as a side-effect.

I want to make that last point clear to everyone for one simply reason: The region isolation is not the problem. It is a symptom. The real problem is the match-making and synchronization systems in place. Calling BioWare out on "filtering" players by region draws a negative connotation, which would encourage them to warp the already broken match-making code to address the accusation. Instead, the complaint should be unified that both the match-making and synchronization coding needs major reworking. Most of it is all backend at BioWare (or EA), so BioWare should be able to correct a large portion of it without so much as a minor patch to our game clients. From personal experience, I know it's a long and painstaking job, but well worth it. I do not envy the BioWare network developers, honestly.
