Seems that when you complete the reflective armor laser beam puzzle in this side quest the game will crash to desktop 100% of the time. Anyone else have this happen? Annoying because you can not leave the station once you enter it and for me, I have to lose 2 hours of play time to go back to my last save before I went there.

For some people the following workaround worked:
- put the 2nd, 3rd and 4th mirror in the correct position first, and only then move the first mirror.
- immediately angle your view away from the research room so you don't see the explosion
The problem seems to be the graphical effects causing problems on a wide range of Nvidia cards. The bug also occurs for some people in the room with the reaper IFF core. The key is to look in the direction of the graphical effects as little as possible.

No luck with my game on the laser room. Crashes no matter what. Fortunately I save often so I will not lose anything before hitting the station... shame. Only crashes in my 15 hours of play so far and my system is nothing special - do have an Nvidia 8500GT card w/ up to date drivers.

I had the same problem and turned down all of the special effects and did what Miriel Amarinth suggested and problem solved, also I have the Nvidia 8500GT with up to date drivers.

Whenever the blue light hits, the big collectors, iff room, the jarrahe station...crash to desktop. Nvidia you suck unless you deliver a driver to stop this!

After about an hour of trying, I finally got out of that room. I hit the 4th plate, then had the 3rd plate flat side at a diagonal towards me and the 2nd plate flat side facing me. I hit the 1st plate turned and ran like heck towards the corner near the window. I then slowly made my way to the dead guy on the floor and up towards the computers slowly until the blue lights up where you can hit spacebar to activate them. I then hit the 4th plate turned and ran like heck again to the desk behind me and the room unlocked....hope this helps until a fix from Nvidia.

Me too - it's a bummer. At least I have a save position before docking.

Same issue here, the crash doesn't always occur at the exact same event, but always when manipulating the reflective armor plates...

I had this problem the second time I played the game, it worked on my first career, but now it continues to crash, and this is the only problem I've had with the game. Perhaps this is a system related problem, and some systems can't handle it...

Well I just completed my 3rd playthrough a couple of weeks ago and ran into this problem again on Jirrahe Station....I did exactly what I wrote down above and it worked the first time and I was on my way. This blue light problem still hasn't been patched....WTF!

Check out the link:

Also arrange the plates in reverse, start with the last one and go to the first one.
