So, I have been playing Bioware and EA games since the Xbox 360 and PS3 first came out. I have played every Bioware that was available to play on both of those consoles. It have been awhile but I decided to start a new play through of the Mass Effect series on my second profile on my Xbox 360 and was considering making it my new primary profile. I have played all the way through the games on this profile before, including the DLC.

I finished Mass Effect and was getting ready to jump into Mass Effect 2, when I got the message that some of my DLC was corrupted. I decided to delete the DLC, ( which I have some on one profile and some on the other), and re-download it. I no longer got the message but noticed that not all of my DLC was available to each profile. Only what had been purchased was there.

This had never been a problem before, so I contacted EA/ Bioware about the issue. The first gentleman I chatted with told me to clear the cache on my console and re-sign into the account that the Mass Effect 2 game was linked to. This did not resolve the issue. The second fellow I talked to told me that because I had had a BSN account originally and now the companies had moved to Origin I was out of luck and would have to purchase all the material again in order to play it on the profile even though it was available on the console just under a different profile. Even though he was very nice and apologetic about the problem, this still gets me steamed.

I have been a loyal customer, I have already purchased all of the DLC for these games twice, (once on the Xbox 360 and once on the PS3), and now if I want to play the DLC I have already paid for twice, I will have to purchase it again even though it is available on the game console I am using!

Thank you Bioware and EA for making me, a very loyal customer feel like a complete ass for supporting you. I have bought every game, including the new Dragon Age, and all I want to do now is turn the game discs into fodder for a skeet shoot. I will never buy another piece of software from you again, and I hate to say that because I still love you games.

Sincerely yours,

A small, unimportant, loyal customer.

The DLC should have been linked to your console account or Origin account

Did you buy the dlc all on one account per console or two?

I have purchased some of the DLC through both of my profiles on the Xbox 360. The were purchased on one console divided over two profiles. I have never had a problem accessing the material until now. I have purchased copies of all the DLC on both my Xbox 360 and my PS3. When I chatted with the EA Advisors, they stated that the issue was specifically related to the migration of the BSN account I had that was listed under an old email and the new Origin accounts. The profiles have not changed but the emails have.

When you log into BSN, the BioWare forums, Origin store, etc you are using an EA account. With each of those sites there is likely some data that is only stored locally. For example your posts made here on the forum are only available on this site. Same would go for "registering" your game on the old BSN; that was just a flag we stored locally on the BSN database. On the other hand, your DLC purchases are at the "top level" of your account which is why we can read that data to gate access to certain sections of the forum. Same would go for some purchases of DLC content.

If at some point you had two EA accounts and made purchases with both you would need to talk with EA support to figure that out. While we can usually see what is linked to your account we can't make changes to your purchases. It gets even more complicated when you have 3rd party accounts, like you do on consoles, I don't know if EA can transfer those types of purchases.

Either way you would have to talk with EA support, no one here has the level of access to accomplish what you are asking.

I'm not sure if changing your account email breaks things but when you talk to EA support you may want to just refer to your accounts as EA accounts because calling them something else might confuse the issue. My guess is that because you referred to one of your accounts as a BioWare account they thought that it was from another system entirely and that is why they couldn't help. BioWare hasn't had it's own account system since before Dragon Age: Origins.

Hope that helps.

Jesse,

Thanks for your response. The EA Advisor I spoke to specific said that the issue was because of the migration of the BSN accounts to Origin. In any event, I broke down and purchased the material for the third time so that I could play Mass Effect 2 in full again. Now all I am worried about is whether I will be able to play my Mass Effect 3 DLC or if I will have to pay for them a third time. I love Bioware games and I have paid least a thousand dollars in support, purchasing all the titles and the extra DLC over two consoles. I was just hoping that EA would help me as I want to continue to support one of my favorite game companies, Bioware. It was the lack of care that I found most disturbing.

I full realize that I am simply one customer and don't dream that I deserve and special treatment but when I can play DLC from other game companies across my profiles on my Xbox 360, I found it disheartening that EA just didn't seem to care. I believe that when I purchased the material I was "purchasing" my rights to play the game on the console, not merely the profile. Again, thanks for the reply I will continue to play Bioware games for now, but please in the future tell the people at EA and Bioware that it is we gamers who keep you in business and that as a good consumer I will not tolerate foul play simply at the sake of making another buck off of me. I work too hard for the little income I receive and attempt to spend in as wise a fashion as possible.

I apologize about the rant but I grow ever tired of the ways in which businesses find to make the common customer continually bleed from the pocket book.

Is it your Xbox saying you don't own the content or is the message appearing in-game?

And did you change your console since you first purchased the DLC? I had to transfer my purchases to my new Xbox when my original red-ringed on me. Here is a page from Microsoft on that process:

Another option would be to go to Microsoft for support because that is who you would have originally purchased it from.

Jesse,

The content showed up in my Xbox storage. When I went to play the game up the profile it stated, "some of your data is corrupted and cannot be accessed" so I deleted the material redownloaded it and check the game under the other profile. Now the game was only able to access the material that I bought under that specific profile. I transfered my licenses, I cleared the cache, I did everything I could to eliminate the possiblity that the issue was with me or my Xbox. It was not it was specifically the game and the network that I have to connect to the caused the issues. When I purchased the material again, I have had no problems. I really appreciate the help, but the issue is with E.A. and Bioware as the E.A. Advisor told me, not with my Xbox.
