Hello!

Among all the talk of Auto-attack, PC controls, etc, I have located one thing that, for me, would change the whole game for the better; an option to turn off auto-center on the selected character (when not in tactical cam).

Reasons why I think there should be an option to remove auto-center on selected character:

1. Giving out orders becomes much easier. The screen stays put and you can go through your characters and give out orders without having to adjust to a new viewpoint.

2. Once the action starts up again after you un-pause, you can quickly see the results of your actions without moving the camera back to the front line.

An example how it is now:

I'm playing a warrior and is currently doing battle with a demon. Way behind me stands Solas and Varric, ready to unleash their ranged attacks. I have paused the game and currently have my warrior selected.

I want Solas to help me out with Winter's Grasp so I click his portrait and my camera is auto-centered on his character. I click Winter's Grasp to activate it. I then click on Varric and the camera auto-centers on his character. I'm not really sure what I want him to attack, so I click my Warrior to get a better view of the battle. The camera centers on my warrior character. I then click a new target, then click Varric again. The view centers on Varric and I click Longshot. I then click on my warrior again (the camera auto centers on my warrior), and I press un-pause to see the result of the battle (That's five auto-centers! Five times your viewpoint changes.)

An example how it could be without auto center:

I'm playing a warrior and is currently doing battle with a demon. Way behind me stands Solas and Varric, ready to unleash their ranged attacks. I have paused the game and currently have my warrior selected. I want Solas to help me out with Winter's Grasp so I click his portrait. The camera stays where it is - on my warrior character. I click Winter's Grasp. I then click Varric's portrait and the camera still remains where I currently have my camera. I chose a new target and click Long Shot. I un-pause and see the action unfold.

For me having the camera move all over the battlefield while assigning orders and thinking about tactics is very jarring; it makes it harder to see the intended target, to give out commands and it just feels very convoluted. Not auto-centering on your character is an option that works, it's been proven in previous Dragon Age games. I fully understand this is not Dragon Age: Origins or Dragon Age II, but I firmly believe that an option to turn off auto-center on character in non-tactical mode will make this game a better gameplay experience for many people.

Please, I would love to see an option to turn this feature off (not remove it, make it an option).

Thank you for your time.

/David

The reason it auto centers outside of tac cam is because you're basically controlling the character directly instead of giving orders like in tac cam. It would be bad if you couldn't see the character you were running around with because it's off screen while the camera is doing something else.
