A prophecy? She is telling the plot of DA:I. Knowing what happened at the Conclave is not an end, but one of the foundations of the Inquisition. Your job is shout to the heavens, closing the breach in the sky, and usher a new age (ending the Templars / Mages conflict, the Orlesian civil war and choosing an influential divine). She also sais that one day someone will sum up the terrible events in Quizzy's life so easily. Well, she just did it.

This could be true but I like to think the Inquisitor has more to do (Coming Soon! $$$).

Maybe Bioware is just trying to cover their asses on this, but have nothing set in stone. She's getting older, might not be available, might not want to play the role, etc etc.

So maybe even Bioware doesn't know whether 'Flemeth' will be in the next game. Thus, the ending.

I hope she isn't gone too. Especially since I spared her in DAO - could there be multiples of her essence flying about?

Or Maybe they are just Setting Morrigan up to take Flemeth's place. They been hinting that for a while.

I personally hope they did it for shock value, For Flemeth to go out like that doesn't do her character justice. Im sure she is still around somewhere.

Says someone only looking at one tree in a forest. I feel it suits her fine. We just find out her goal and purpose and she maybe one of many pawns to get there. It's suiting that the character who has the most mystery about them dies as soon as all the info about is cleared up...Now it all about Myrthal and Flemeth does not need to be alive for us to know about her. Added, the series hinted the the torch was going to be passed to Morrigan sooner or later. I feel it all part of us getting to know what's really going on.

Sometimes I wonder how many times simply this happens:

Writer: Ooooh, I'll write that. It sounds cool!

People: Well, what the author clearly meant is.... If you look at what happens here this means that.... It's a deep and meaningful metaphor for...

Except for the fact that every time Flemeth talk she uses Metaphors that later happen in the story. And she's not the only one. Every character that has some for sight to the future in dragon age does it.

Oh yeah I totally acknowledge the possibility. By place, you just mean the 'character who links to the magical storyline from DAO'?

I just meant that maybe they dunno if Flemeth's actress would even be available, so they're not going to assume (unlike DA2, DAO).

I think it works either way (death/not dead).

If she's dead, well we still have her legacy live on in Solas' storyline. A worthy one, so far.

If she's not dead, she has other shards of her essence in the world. This works too, and illustrates Flemeth as a very long term planner.

I really don't care what Bioware does, as long as its good. I love Flemeth, but I have seen her be awesome just enough that I can accept her not being present in any further content.

But I guess if pressed, I'd prefer she has another 'her' out there, even if optionally (Spare Her in DAO).

TBH from what I know of writers, its both.

They do have plans.

But readers overreact.

But there are plans. Sometimes plans that the readers never figure out until it happens.

Its really both ways, depending on the intelligence and investment of either side, I suppose.

I've been wondering since DA2 if her separate copies merge eventually. Or maybe there is some sort of Flemeth Clone Deathmatch. There can be only one.

I hate how people like that are all versed and eloquent and stuff.

Can't they just say: '**** son, you're going to destroy thedas with your mark, i've actually SEEN the future. Stay away from elven orbs.'

At least that'd be useful.

Seeing as there's another 59 years left in the Dragon Age, I'm sure oodles more things will happen before a new age dawns... and probably bigger and badder than a blight, a war, and a hole in the sky with the threat of a magister becoming a god....

Besides, between sandal saying "One day the magic will come back - all of it. Everyone will be just like they were. The shadows will part and the skies will open wide. When he rises, everyone will see."

And Flemeth's "We stand upon the precipice of change. The world fears the inevitable plummet into the abyss. Watch for that moment...and when it comes, do not hesitate to leap. It is only when you fall that you learn whether you can fly"

I think it's been pretty standard for obtuse prophecies to appear in every game and it would at this point be weird without one.

Besides...sandals didn't come true yet soooooo....yeah...
