Back when Origins was offered as a free download, I figured I'd try it out. Back then, many people who had signed up couldn't log into their player profiles while at the Origins start screen. I had talked to support, gotten to a specialist, and was told that this was a mass problem. It's been quite a long time, and I'm still unable to log in. It tries to log in, and I'll see the "contacting server" flash on the screen for barely a second. I've gone ahead and played, but I thought I'd try it again today. Still no luck.

I did read through the other FAQ threads, but I didn't see my specific issue, or I at least didn't recognize it. Does this fix itself if I make an official purchase? Or would I need to uninstall the origin client and start anew?

Regardless of if you find a solution or not, just remember that logging in and getting your characters to upload doesn't make a difference if you want to do it for the Keep. You'll need to manually recreate your worldstate decisions anyway.

I'm currently worried about porting my Origins playthrough to future games.

Whether you got it for free or not is immaterial. It does not affect how the keep ties into DA:I

Actually, I remember that I contacted Origin of the issue, since them offering it as a free download did in fact cause a login server bug. To this day many of us who used that promo have issues, as well as many who purchase a new copy through Origin. Many old users run into some bugs as well.

However, I was considering DA2 and onward. Whatever choices I make, I want to import into DA2 and so on. It isn't just Inquisition. I didn't think it was Keep related exactly.

Wheteher you can sign into the game for the on-line sync which does nothing much these days will not stop the game from making a save file. Which is imported into da2

For the keep. It doesnt care about what games you own.

I already knew it wouldn't stop me from utilizing save files. :) If that was the case, than the concept of saving in game would be pretty moot. My initial thought was that we needed the save files to sync through the keep, then latter games would pull from the Keep and import that way. Since I've never done an import yet with DA2 and onward, I haven't seen how it works yet.

If the Keep is just some dressed up way of logging what you've done manually, I guess it's pointless to mess with. The only thing I have to be concerned with is my achievements never unlocking in the Keep.

The keep can't pull any save info from DA:O and DA2. It does however pull Data from DA:I. So for future games less choosing tiles manually.

It is odd that because you got the game free that it doesnt let you sign in. It does mean however as you guessed that achievements won't show up in the keep. I recommend if you have steam to wait until the steam sale and buy the ultimate edition for $5. It's a bargain as you have all the dlcs and expansions
