Suppose, hypothetically, someone wanted to set up an alt account to troll gold lobbies relive the glory of starting afresh...what's involved?

On Xbox one needs a new user account with XBL Gold, got that...does one need to get an extra copy of the game, or do a re-install? Can two different accounts on Xbox use the same installed copy of ME3?

On PC I need an extra copy of the game, I believe, and to set up a new Origin account...does that need a new login account on my PC or is Origin smart enough to let me log into a different Origin account at its start screen?  (I'd have thought so, but then...Origin....)

Thank you all in advance. Corrections and additions welcome, especially from people who actually know what they're talking about :D

Wow, looks like this is the one area that PS3 actually comes out on top :P

All we need to do is create a new psn profile, so the only requirement is an e-mail address.

Reported.

On topic: dunno about XBL, but I believe on PC you can just register a new account (and buy ME3 using this acc), then log out your main account in Origin and type your user name/ password of your alt account, then you're good to go, the profile info is stocked server side so don't worry of losing your main account manifest, because you won't. You also don't need a different Windows login to make this work, it works as long as EA got your money, simple and easy.

press the log out button on origin, create new account, login with it, buy the game again, play. don't need to reinstall/redownload or anything, just remember to "repurchase" the dlcs with your new account. (actually i've no idea if it makes any difference if you repurchase them or not but i assume the dlc authorization will herpaderp)

I did an troll account back in the days. You need to make new xbox live account and pay for it. Don't need to buy new copy of the game since the multiplayer pass can be downloaded from the store free.

As per what Pheabus and ex-Clusum said.  You will need to "buy" the free DLCs again so that they are authorized for your alt account.

Not necessary. All the free DLC are loaded and authorized by the game correctly with an alt account even if you don't claim them via origin. Not that it matters, it takes seconds to claim them since they don't need downloading.

Well for my PS3 alt account I had to buy all the DLCs again for single player, and since bought the game used, I had to play for another online pass for mp. So... what is being said here is that I didn't have to buy another online pass despite buying the game used without authorization code?

One normally starts another as a direct result of maxing one's manifest :D

... We all want to open crates and find shiny loot inside, right?

You shouldn't need more than one copy of the game on any system.

On Origin, it shouldn't cost you anything, just a different account (if it does require another copy, then I spit upon Origin.) PS 3 definitely doesn't require more than one copy.

On Xbox, you'd need a second paid XBL account, so I woudn't bother doing it there.

Or several email addresses  :D

Real hipsters don't worry about such things - I had 3 N7 120 alts before finally maxing my main a/c last week.  What you have to ask yourself is, do I care more about upgrading a weapon than I do about having Incinerate and no Incinerate builds for a Krogan Sentinel?  In my case that answer was no.  A resounding no, in fact.  Also GI sniper / shotgun tbh.

Yes.  And no.  There was a time when the game was newer that you had to pay for a pass but that's long ago.  I'm also pretty confident the SP DLC is available across the different accounts, but not certain on that.

If you end up making second account on Xbox I suggest buying 1 or 3 month Live subscriptions. It gets old quick not being op so I tend to get bored. This way your not making yourself feel obligated to play on the account for 12 months.

On PC you need a new email, and a new copy of ME3,with DLC's(no download needed).Log in and out between accounts via Origin.Remember to use cloud saves only, because it will stay out of sync. One wrong click and you could lose your maxed manifest.

Nah, it's stored in the hamster cage on the server afaik.

You could use a completely different PC with your login and get your manifest.

Yeah that's the process I used, bonus points for signing up for a new forum account with the new email you used for your new origin account.

^Not this

On PS3 you only need a different email address, no purchases required
