I didn't get into Mass Effect at first, one of my best friends made me play Eden Prime on 360- at that time I had no hand-eye-controller coordination and nothing took, and when I got a PC copy, I had nothing that could really play it. Years later, I was testing out my new laptop, fired up the game and I was hooked, bought the second game while pre-ordering the third and desperately playing Mass Effect 2 before the third game came out.

It takes playing past Eden Prime. I think I was past the point of no return once I got to Therum. Nowadays, I love the start of the first game but it wasn't what got me invested originally. That was the sense I was in this massive universe and the immersion factor which kicks in.

Why would you get him into Mass Effect?  Are you some sort of sadist?  Getting him immersed into the world, the universe, the characters, and then have it all come crashing down in the last 15 minutes?   You're no friend, you're an enemy!

Oh get over yourself.  Not everyone has to be as butthurt as you.  People are allowed to like what you don't like.

That's the point I'm trying to make though.  I like the series too.  And look what happened to me!

How endearing of you though to use such a brutish word like that.  That hurts me.  Really it does.

When is the last time you played? Maybe it'll come off better after a hiatus. It did for me.

I never was an "ending hater" myself though.. More of a Priority Earth hater. And "They half-assed the ME2 Team" hater. :P

I tried playing two years after the ending.  I got about.....to the end of that first mission with Garrus on Palaven's moon and then suddenly all I could think about was the ending.  Five minutes later I rage quit.

My better half tried to get me to play ME1 by showing me the first game and after watching him play for a while I had no interest in playing myself. He said there was a ME2 and asked that I check out videos of that game before making my final decision. ME2 caught my interest and after playing through a few times I went back and played ME1.

All of my friends are like that OP, every single one. So after completing the triology, I had this insufferable need to talk to someone about it. So I asked around my with my friends, no one had played it, tried to talk them into it, no one would do it.  So I found new friends. I kept real life friends in real life, and joined that Retake ME3 movement. Met some interesting people there, stopped talking to them after a while, when the group died out. Yes, I was one of those ending ragers, but it was just that, rage.
Fast Forward to Dragon Age Inquisition coming out. Same damn thing, I alone, played through it, and again, the desire to talk to someone about it rushes in. And it's even stronger than before, it burns so badly, I even started talking to myself about it. And then, out of nowhere, I noticed a former acquaintance from Retake ME3 movement, suffering the same thing. So I reintroduced myself, and we got talking and talking and talking for hours and days. After a few weeks and 2 Inquisition playthroughs, we decided to replay through whole Mass Effect again. Boy, I didn't regret it one bit. We love the game, every single bit of it. Even the ending, it was funny how we used to rage about it, but now, rather than hating the ending, we look forward to Mass Effect 4, but that's a topic for another conversation.

TL DR: Find new friends
