What, you want that thing to look even more like pajamas than it already does? :P

At least it make it official...

My theory is the color is due to the dirt effect.  The beige of the clothes matches the color of the dirt as it appears on clothing and armor perfectly.  They probably figured that, rather than risk the dirt showing, just make the whole outfit that color.   There are still folks that think the dirt is a bug, thanks to the lack of explanation from the dev team.    <_<

I noticed the dirt effect after I modded the Skyhold clothes to black.   You can see it on your armor too while in the field, but it's the most noticeable at Skyhold.  As I ran around outside the keep, I started to chuckle.  The color of the dirt creeping up on my character's legs was the exact same shade of beige as the unmodded outfit was.

So yes, it's true.  The Skyhold outfit currently is the exact same color as dirt.

Honestly I think the dirt effect is stupid. You get covered up to your waist in a layer of dust thick enough to completely cover the original color of whatever you were wearing just from walking (walking, not even running) a few steps around Haven. At least give us a toggle to turn it off like with the blood spatter.

I really don't understand why they didn't add a feature to offer more Skyhold outfits, I mean Mass Effect 3 had this right?

And ME2, some dlc even gave you more casual outfits (Kasumi's to be precise). But then again you can point to most things DAI does and say how not other companies, but Bioware has done better in the past, hell, even the DA team has done better in the past. Just say, upgrading your castle in awakening actually matters and changes it's appearance. Skyhold's appearance doesn't change per se, it just goes from being broken to less broken but still broken. I know that's a change, but in Awakening the walls went from broken to repaired to changing to another style.

I'd be willing to pay for a different casual outfit. The current one is that awful.

You'r falling prey to the EA business plan : releasing a good game with horrible part and creating good part to change that by making them full price DLC. They haven't created the casula outfit for SkyHold : it's your underwear! Unequip your armor in fighting zone and bom! Underwear!

I don't understand why the main character must stay in underwear while taking care of the Inquisition but, he, it's perhaps a view of Bioware so we are not allowed to say something about it?

I think they should give us a "toggle Armor" option for skyhold. I wouldn't want the PJs gone because I love my modded PJs. :)

Indeed. Just do what the CheatEngine script does. Shouldn't be that difficult.

Of course they'd have to deal with the fact that the armor isn't appropriate for all of the cutscenes and that it looks odd while you're sitting in judgment. I guess one reason they're so hesistant about this is that they'd have to revisit the Skyhold cutscenes and enable/disable armor based on specific scenes.

Once again...

Haven > Skyhold.

But to their credit Mike Laidlaw actually admitted that only giving us a grey color for the formal suit was kind of lame and that they'll remember that for future games.

Totally support this. My Inqui really looks, well lame in those pj. It's hard to take her/him seriously when judging someone and it looks like you just got out of bed.

I disagree, I think your Inquisitor would look much more powerful sitting up there in armor. Plus, you could always take off the armor before getting to a cutscene.

The problem is that some armors aren't made for sitting. For instance, the lower parts of the coat maintain a minimum distance from the legs, so that it appears part of the coat is floating ten centimetres above your thigh while you're sitting. Also, in standard exploration mode you always have a weapon, even if you unequip everything, and that weapon goesn't go away if you sit down. I take it some animators were lazy and didn't account for sitting characters, and about the decision to make it impossible to walk without a weapon...no comment.

I'd love to see a shop in Val that lets you buy new clothes to wear around Skyhold (or hell, gives us back the option to run around in our skivvies) - it would be so cool to have different styles and garments to wear for different occasions - got a Keep full of Orlesian nobles? Fine - mask and a ballgown! Judging a proper git on the throne? No problem - stylish armour! Trying to impress the Chantry? Clerical garb! There's a lot of potential for more!

But even if we can't get rid of the rotten pajamas, at least they could let us tint them?!

Could have used Viv's initial convo in Skyhaven where she mentions taking the Inq to Val to introduce her seamstress.  Not sure if that is available for non female human Inquisitors though.

Oh god. The pi's during the romance scenes are terrible. These photos are, however, incredible.

There's no saving that outfit, not just by swapping beige for velveteen anyway, so as I'm stuck wearing it I might as well embrace the awfulness.

Just imagine slouching on the throne, passing judgement in your plaidweave pjs- glorious ;)

LOL. It would certainly bring home to everyone just how utterly ridiculous that outfit is. I think I could top the plaidweave, though. Imagine the bright orange of dragon webbing

Take off your armor when you're outside skyhold:

It's the underwear.

We're actually wearing our underwear while walking around and judging people on the throne, O_o.

It's a bit silly to judge people in undies...

But yeah, they should make a armor toggle button or something like cheat engine has,

I mean it can't be that hard for the official devs to do, right?

Underwear, haha

LOL.. :D Yep.. running around in your U-Wear :D

She says it to elven females too - haven't tried it with any others yet though.

But honestly - even being able to TINT the pajamas would at least be something!

(And I really wish they would allow us to use the herbs to create different dyes so we can have a wider selection of colours - I'd love to use the plaidweave if I could dye it something like elfroot green or spindleweed pink!)

I can verify that Vivienne says it to a dwarven lady as well.

They wouldn't be so bad if we were allowed to do that! I'd make the trousers black and the top royale sea silk - instantly less hideous!

It doesn't fix some of the creepy body models (pointy dwarven boobs, anyone?), but at least it wouldn't be the world's worst onsie.

I *might* settle for coloring if there was a true black, but there isn't. The model stays ridiculously close-fitting, though. Nothing is going to make that go away. As I said, it makes sense because it's a testing outfit. Only we aren't testing.
