I don't understand it. By "it" I am referring to Cassandra's romance story arc.
- So I did a playthrough where my mage Trevelyan did all these actions
- Took the mountain path.
- Did not believe in the Maker and took the non-faithful path.
- Allied with Rebel Mages and maintained that mages should be free.
- Reconciled Celene & Briala and executed Gaspard.
- Allied with the Grey Wardens, Loghain left to die in the Fade.
- Let Morrigan drink from the Well of Sorrows.
and did all this as well
- Flirted with Cassandra.
- Discouraged her from becoming a Divine (since my Trevelyan thought she is not politically suited for the job)
- Told her she could do whatever she likes after the quest involving the Seekers ended.
- Gave her a copy of Swords & Shields.
- Did the side quest where you go and hunt some high profile Seeker targets.
& my Trevelyan could still romance her. I'm astounded. I mean my Trevelyan took many actions that she disapproved off. Almost all the actions that he took in the main questline, she disapproves of it.
Don't get me wrong, Trevelyan did not shite talk Cassandra or anything, he did flirt with her and gave her the book from Varric and told her she could do whatever she wants.
But realistically, shouldn't Cassandra be neutral ? Shouldn't she be like :- "We are normal friends ?" Trevelyan did things which pleased and displeased her equally. Isn't that how it works ?
I need to understand how can Cassandra romantically love a man who holds views that are not just different but totally opposite to hers. Views that she disapproves of.
It makes little sense and personally feels very wrong to me. I mean if the Rivalry system existed, I can get that this is a rivalmance of sorts but there is no friendship-rivalry system in this game.
If someone could explain this oddity to me, I would very much appreciate it.
