Why can't she be real? *sighs and kicks something*
There's thousands of Cassandras in the world. The problem is that the interpersonal relationships are not realistic in DA. Every line is carefully balanced, here is never a harsh word or an unfair line. Neither can the inquisitor pick one nor will Cass make such a statement. In real life this basic assumption of respect-despite-disagreement can all be true too, but real people will make patronizing comments, swear, be mean and bitchy, make ill-considered accusations etc. out of a momentary mood. Cass never does that because she is a scripted image of a person. I believe if people included such "real life mistakes" in their headcanon, it would all be a lot easier to see how that relationship can work.
