Actually, I have a question for the OP.

I'm a regular of the Sera thread and we've often compared it to a tavern.

If the title of the thread were changed from being the Sera Discussion Thread to something like the... Sera's Tavern Thread - Come in and Chat About Sera and Other Pointless Topics would you be less irritated?

Not really CaptivatingKS - why would I be?

If you have nothing to discuss, why bump a dedicated character thread in a forum dedicated to 'Story, Campaign & Characters'? Why is that more friendly and reasonable than say moving your off-topic chatter to the relevant sub-forum? Serious question.

Do you ever question your way of thinking? Do you really belief that it is a matter worth debating? Do you actually belief that every single thread should bow to your wish so that you don't have to adapt, instead of you adapting?

In every single Character Fan Thread I've visited for a questions where I'm not regular, people will stop being off topic to actually welcome me to discussion & respond to my questions. Every. Single. One.

I'm a regular of some of these threads, as well as frequent visitor to the Off Topic. I can tell you these threads' member do police a lot themselves to avoid having a Mod giving out warnings.

And you're welcome to visit & ask any question, btw. You'll always get answers. Don't even bother searching in the thread. Just come with your question.

Because it would still be the exact same thread but with a new title.

Because you'd lose a huge chunk of the core regulars group who talk in the character thread (it always happens whenever you move a group to a new environment) and the character thread would atrophy and people basically would stop talking about the character and all you'd have left would be newbies and a husk of a once magnificent thread.

So - in answer to my question - the regular posters of off-topic content in our dedicated character threads shouldn't be expected to accommodate those who would rather they didn't? Brilliant!

take a chill pill, brah.

Drop by a character thread (or maybe don't) no one will tell you to GTFO.*

*I have no guarantee of this.

Who say that they don't?

Come with your questions & you'll get answer. Many people do. When this happens the regulars just stop off-topic discussions (if any) to help that person. Ever try this? At least this is what I do & see what happens in the fan thread I'm a regular.

I feel like you really didn't read my answer thouroughly.

We're more than happy to talk about the character, but there are only so many topics. Do you want the thread to die?

Fine. And what of those active on-topic threads that are regularly bumped from the first few pages of 'Story, Campaign and Characters' with off topic chatter? And by the same people! What of those on-topic threads that get buried by the stream of consciousness brigade?

Bite me, we have discussed everything there is to discuss about Sera. Her beliefs, why she might have those beliefs, is she a savant with regards to archery. You seem like a self entitled cry baby who expects everyone to change their behavior because you said so.

No, I want them to thrive with meaningful conversation about the character\topic in question. It's actually kind of my point!

When everything about the character has been discussed what else is there to discuss?

Tone down the off-topic chatter and we'll find out Stormheart83.

Given the degree to which our dedicated character threads are currently crammed full of off-topic - thoroughly uninteresting - chatter, I thought I'd start a thread to consolidate the posting of all such shite for the benefit of those of us who would rather talk and read about the characters in question.

You're welcome.

If the purpose of the thread was to provide a home for off topic discussion, you wouldn't have used the title and opening post to insult pretty much everyone who participates in those threads.

But, instead, you have used the Story and Character Forums as a venue to express your rage and insult people for not conversing in a manner specifically according to your liking.

That's so petty, I think I'd have to spend an hour with a thesaurus just to come up with a word to accurately describe it.

No, it's as simple as that. I chat with people in that thread because I enjoy talking with them. You don't like that fine.

How is a topic supposed to thrive when all the meaningful discussion has been spoken? Are we supposed to repeat ourselves every day? There has been months worth of Sera conversation in that thread.

I love it. Here we have the OP ranting our thread takes up space with frivolous discussion. And here we are having a frivolous discussion about our frivolous discussions. Hahahahahaha, BSN how I love you.
