This is my third playthrough and I have decided to pursue a romance with Solas. However, nothing I do gains approval. I exile the wardens- nothing! I keep Cole as a spirit- nothing! It is only this time and only since I triggered the relationship. Any idea what is happening?

It's definitely possible to max approval. When that happens, there will be no more "approves" signals, just "disapproves" if they happen.

It's very easy to max approval fairly early on, I always do.

Yup I usually get Solas , Cole and Dorian easily at max friendship shortly after getting to Skyhold

I noticed that Dorian stopped "approving" but I wasn't trying to romance him so it didn't worry me.
