Should Bioware resolve the Solas storyline with a DA:I DLC?

Rather than waiting for 3 years for Dragon Age 4 to see what happens with Solas, do you think Bioware should resolve the Solas storyline with the final DA:I DLC?

I think it could work, technically speaking, because he is guaranteed to be in your party no matter what choices you made (unlike most of the other companions whom you might never meet or might leave early), and he also is guaranteed to have that final after credits cutscene and leave your party no matter what as well.  In other words, his storyline is the same regardless of player choices, and also the way the game is set up right now, it would SEEM that DLC is going to be designed to take place after the main storyline of the game is completed.  Or at the very least, if they made 2 big single player DLCs, the 2nd one could take place after the main game for sure.

Thoughts on this?

I'd much rather deal with this in some kind of DLC/expansion/whatever for Inquisition than an entirely new game. I'd like to be able to choose a reaction for the Inquisitor than some newcomer who didn't really know Solas.

This storyline is too big to be concluded with a DLC. I think it could be interesting to see Solas featured in a DLC, but he should also carry over into the next game.

As much as I hate to say it, I agree with King Cousland. I'd love to see this resolved, but I also want Bioware to take their time with it.

This is exactly what I've been saying.

It seems like an Awakening style expansion would be the ideal way to resolve it. But IIRC, Bioware said they didn't intend to do anything like that again.

No thanks - I'd rather have it fully fleshed out in a few years time in the next game.

I think DLC would be the perfect venue to resolve the Solas storyline as regards the Inquisition/Inquisitor, but probably not Solas's entire arc.  Although I've yet to see definitive proof (Note:  I'm saying I haven't seen it, not that it doesn't exist) that Bioware plans to "abandon" the Inquisitor in the next game(s), I think that in either case - either sequels with the Inquisitor or without him/her, the sequels should focus not only on the new places and intrigues therein, but also the consequences of the Inquisition and whatever ends up being the initial moves of Solas's big picture - and the implications and results.

That being the case, I think a few good DLC/expansions would create the opportunity to either wrap up or ramp up the Inquisitor/Inquisition/Solas dynamics in such a way that the most pressing questions (for those who romanced Solas [not me, Cassandra all the way every way] especially) and at least hints at what Solas is planning on doing can be addressed.  This would allow players to have some kind of closure while also satisfying the craving for more stuff from Inquisition, simultaneously positioning them in the right emotional perspective as regards Solas.

Right now, we don't know what Solas plans to do, if he's still fully Solas, etc.  Ambiguous curiosity is a much weaker motivator for a follow-up purchase than either passionate hatred and a drive to stop evil machinations, or driven commitment to see a loyal friend/tragic lover succeed in a plan to save the world.  DLC is the ideal platform to set that stage.

Sure, give him an actual expansion pack. Or a series of smaller DLCs, but let's not carry this over into the next game.

His... Let's call it a situation, started in DA:I. Let's end it all in one game so we can move on to new problems in the future. Besides, and especially if romanced, Solas is too personal to be dealt with by another protag.

It wouldn't make any sense to leave it to DA4 because I really doubt we're going to play as the Inquisitor again. As much as I love the idea of Solas being some sort of antagonist in a future game, I don't know if I would want to play it with a new PC that doesn't even have any connection to him (that's what happened in DAI. The Inquisitor has no connection to Coryphy like Hawke does and the new DA4 PC wouldn't have a connection with Solas like the Inquisitor has) but I don't want to play as the Inquisitor again either so for me it's best if DA4 is a completely new game with a completely new villain and PC.

The best way to deal with this in my opinion is an Awakening kind of EP. I don't know why Bioware decided they aren't going to do those anymore but well, we'll see. I think they will at least give us a DLC to wrap the story between Solas and the Inquisitor though (especially for romances).

Yes please. We are moving to another part of Thedas and they are also going to change the lead writer therefore if we are going to see a fresh restart for the next story I want it to be the most fresh possible one: no cliffhangers, unclosed topic and so on. Give us all the possible closures for whatever happened during this 3 games and then move on.

I'd rather it be wrapped up in a DLC, so we can move away from Inquisition and Southern Thedas.

This is exactly why I wish they were doing a full expansion instead of piddly DLCs.

You know, I'm fine with it being concluded in a fully fleshed out and meaty expansion to Inquisition, if thats the method they choose to take.

Sure it could carry into the next game, but I don't know what they're planning so its hard to say at this stage.

I would prefer to see this, as others have said above, as a fully fleshed story rather than a blip of DLC.  Too much there to explain and deal with.

My Lavellans would very much appreciate a chance to continue this storyline themselves, please. (And so would I)

No

Something that BIG can't just be shoehorned into any DLC or expansion. What Solas is and what he became is something that needs to be explored in depth especially since it could essisentially turn the lore on it head with revelations on the world before Arlathan fell

Yes, maybe a 2 parter or something to fit it flesh if they wany but I won't buy it, don't buy DLC.

I want the next DA game to be about the characters not the hidden history of Thedas. I have no interest in that nor any interest in Solas.

I would like more information about Solas in a DLC.

I'm not sure about a new game solely based on his story, but I'm definitely interested in a dlc that would add to  1) what happened at the well (I have some who drank and some who didn't) 2) with the aftermath of his meeting with Flemeth, especially if you drank from the well,  and 3) what kind of options would there be if you romanced him.

Since I'm not a big fan of characters returning in future games, and really don't want the DA4 to involve the inquisitor,  the idea of Solas joining us again is not at the top of my request list.  Yes I like Varric but if he hadn't been brought in, I wouldn't have missed him.

DLC/expansion please. We've been stuck in Southern Thedus for three games now, this would be a forth game there. Finish up the Inquisitors story along with Solas in an expansion and move onto unseen areas please.

I think if they concentrate on the story - and not unrelated side-quests and areas - they can wrap up the whole story in one DLC size of Legacy or MotA.

They built up Flemeth across three games and now Solas is picking up where she left off. Relegating him to a DLC would be stupid. He has as many as 3 God souls in him and has plans to change Thedas. He's probably the most powerful being that's ever existed in Thedas. I want at least an entire game to address Solas.

I'd like a large expansion, Awakening style to wrap this up. To Hell with what BioWare said - they go back on the things they say all the time.

And as for DA4, I'd like it to be a new story with a different theme and in a different part of Thedas. No idea if we are keeping our Inquisitor in DA4 or not. I didn't really like being inquisitor. And the whole "kiss my butt I'm awesome from the start" thing was lame.

I think those who romanced Solas should be given an opportunity to get him back and I think that is possible in a DLC. It would be nice to see him in DA4 but I would rather see that in that point he would have completed his mission and we would have to deal with the aftermath of that with a new protagonist.
