I've pre-ordered every Bioware game for as long as I can remember, yet I haven't actually completed a single Dragon Age game so far. If the patching of DAI doesn't delay too much, I aim to change that however. But the longer it takes, the more likely I'll move on and never look back.

I will definitely NOT be pre-ordering the next DA installment , but will probably do so with the next Mass Effect game as all of those games have been well polished out the door and since I prefer the ME setting and gameplay to that of DA anyway. Standard fantasy RPG is so over done.

Standard rpg is rarely done right but when it is it's much funner imho than a duck hunt shooter with rpg elements.

Inquisition was almost completely based on fan feedback.  Fans whined that they wanted a larger game more resembling Skyrim and that is what they got, they just forgot how barren Skyrim can be (At least we didn't get the game breaking bugs Skyrim had when it launched).

Fans wanted selectable races and Bioware delayed the game over a year to implement this.

Bioware has shown that they have been listening to feedback from the fanbase (Some developers on the next Mass Effect have been asking people on Twitter things they would like to see), if anything this shows that people should be careful what they wish for.

One thing is what fans wished for and second thing is what we got. I can't picture anyone who wanted to have not copy-pasted locations and a bigger world than Kirkwall and at the same time wanted to have the big world lifeless, optional quests boring and dull and main story short.

Yeah, one year delay was surely because of those extra races. It was not at all because of technical difficulties that came with the switch to a new egine for example.

Yeah, they are listening on Twitter more than on their official feedback forum. It doesn't show us people should be more careful with their wishes, it shows us the disconnection between BW and their fanbase.

what shortcomings? I didn't like DA2, but after some time I ended up liking it better than DAO. I don't see any flaw in ME3 from combat mechanic perspective it's even better than ME2. Also I love war assets cos it reflects your whole trilogy experience. And for the endings? Well I didn't like it, but that's not game breaking experience for me and they somewhat fixed it. ABC sounds fine, how else should they make it? Like dragonkeep when ending would be compiled of short movies in succession? And if you "was able to forgive them" how come you still hold grudge over it and count it as strike (1 or 2? whatever)

Honestly, you can't see shortcomings in a game that was rushed in one year? I liked DA2 to some extent and as I said, it managed to improve upon some aspects of DAO. Go watch some honest review of DA2 to get a picture of what the game has done poorly (mainly because it was rushed).

That same goes for ME3 - rushed game with problems stemming from this fact. War assets instead of actually seeing the consequences of huge decisions (for example how they handled the Rachni was a joke), like they promised we would and how many variables all these consequences would have... Again, I liked ME3, the lies have definitely left a sour aftertaste, but the gameplay was superb as well as the MP part and the game also offered one of the most memorable scenes I have ever seen in a game (Mordin and Genophage, Legion's sacrifice, Grunt's rampage, etc). Also they managed to create arguably one of the best DLCs ever created - Citadel. But will all this erase the fact they blatantly lied? Not unless you are a rose-tinted glasses wearing ignoramus like I used to in the past.

How else they could have done it? For example by not disregarding the previous well thought out ending, just because it was leaked or whatnot. Even a memorable ending with no A-B-C choice would be better, if it was an interesting one (e.g. like the last BioShock managed to do it).

Forgive does not mean forget. I forgave them and pre-ordered DAI. DAI just showed to me to never trust them again (or any other big publisher as we could observe in the last year).

I admit that I probably won't preorder another Bioware game. I do still preorder some games though. I have preordered GTA V (for PC) because I know it will be good from the earlier console release. And I have preordered The Witcher 3 because I liked the two previous Witcher games and like the way that CD Project do business (such as free DLC). I still feel I can trust them.

well why should I read previews when I played the game myself and I probably spent 10times (or 50 times, who knows) the time playing the game than this previewer who wrote them.

and for the "lies" here's a scenario you didn't think of - they intended to do one thing, they announced it, they found out they either can't make it or it's too complicated and have to drop it or change it. I don't think they do it on purpose, they have no reason to...

I'm not sure if "rushed" is quite the right concept here. While technically correct since DA2 did have a relatively short dev cycle, we usually use "rushed" to mean a game where there were some sort of time constraints that prevented the original vision from being made. KotOR 2, notoriously. Or even ME3, where the design ambitions do seem to have outrun the available development time. But DA2 was always intended to have a short dev cycle.

Personally, I'm OK with faster. I liked DA2 pretty well, and I'd rather have, say, three DA2s than two DA:Os, even though I prefer DA:O to DA2.

One year and a few months for an AAA game is rushed no matter how you look at it. KotOR 2 is indeed an excellent example, Obsidian being rushed by LucasArts. One could say BW were rushed by EA by having a ridiculous goal set before them, but that is only an assumption, we'll never know for sure, BW might as well just became complacent after DAO and thought they could pull it off. For such a short dev cycle it was actually pretty impressive, since as I said before, the game did some things really well (combat, story, main char), I'll give them that :)

Say what now? :D When previews are coming out you haven't even received the game and won't get it for like a month or two :D They are called previews for a reason... If you meant reviews, then their mission should be to protect the customers from buying a half-assed product and warn them, since customers are inherently the vulnerable party in any trade agreement.

I very well thought of that, but there is one simple honest thing they can do - retract what they have said. Or at the very least stop lying when they know they had to cut out said content. Have you read Rawgrim's post? Devs continued to lie 2 days before launch. I think they knew what was cut out by that point. And if you read the Origin store page for DAI they are still lying there to this very day.

Honestly? They have no reason too? :D You can't possibly be that naive. They have a reason - to get our money. That is the sole purpose of EA's existence. Nothing wrong with that per se, since that is the sole reason all for-profit corporations exist. But one thing is making a profit by normal means and another thing is making a profit by amoral means.

Btw on the off chance that you are that naive and not just trolling - I am a Nigerian prince who was robbed of my family wealth, if I give you my bank account number, will you lend me some money? After I'll get back what is rightfully mine, I will totaly pay you back - with interest!

oh you must feel so self righteous and I must be naive not to think alike... From my point of view they promised to release a game and they did. Was it what you were expecting? Great. Wasn't it? Well too bad. Majority of players like DA2 and ME3... And for the "lies" well you're comparing it to a felony which suggest that it's you that is trolling. If these two were alike instead of downloading a game you would download some corrupted of fake files or completely different game. You should also consider impact of so called lies cos it's a huge difference when they say it won't have abc ending and then it does and when they would say it's a rpg and then it's candyland like game...

besides why do you feel a need to convince other players not to preorder anymore of Bioware games? What does it matter to you?

My point was that I'm not a fan of the AAA model in the first place. I'd prefer it if Bio went down to AA or just plain A, so I had no problem with the DA2 plan.

However, it looks like Bio's probably decided that this model doesn't work, and they're better off going back to the more-expensive plans. This would hardly be the first time that my personal tastes aren't supported by the market.

I dont even think I'll buy new Dragon age at all. They seem to lean more on exploration and open world and lose good story. I couldnt connect much with characters and the story felt flat and abrupt.

Didnt stop me from playing 100 hours though :D

About next mass effect im still not sure, on one side i cant wait for it, on the other dont want to get burnt again :crying:

That's a great point not to pre-order any longer. But I don't play very many games and I never want to pass up a chance to get free posters and stuff...It has it's pros and cons. Pre-ordering DA:I wasn't all that I must admit. But yeah...posters... :( No posters or anything with my pre-order. Lame.

Will I pre-order again? It all depends on the incentive to me. If there is no benefit to it, maybe not.

Okay, so if somebody says he will give 1 000 000 dollars to you and give you 1 cent, you will find it normal? After all, it is money, no?

The fact that the game doesn't make blow away the console at launch is not the main goal of a game. It is only the beginning. To make a game means making something working from the start to the end. Just read my review in my sign, and you'll see why some people like Jeffry want to prevent further damage on the fanbase.

With DAI and after the RGB ending of ME3, Bioware destroy all the trust I had in them. After having **** two times while I ordered a faux filet, I change of restaurant.

value of the game is subjective. I was disapointed by it, but I spent 200hours playing it anyway and chances are that I spent another +-50hours when I play it again in a year. 50eur for 250+ hours? well not that bad deal even if I had fun only 1/4 of time I played. Some games like Sacred 3 cost the same and you get thru them in 10 hours and I will never play S3 again ever, but I definitely will replay whole DA serie in coming years

After the absolute and total piles of crap that were Evolve and Destiny I will only pre-order games that are guaranteed to be great.

- Elder Scrolls anything

- Arkham Knight

- Handsome Collection

- Fallout anything

- Dragon Age anything

That is all I got off the top of my head

Inquisition restored my faith in the series after the disaster that was DA2.

Ah, ok then, that I can understand. Luckily this year is looking good for non-AAA RPGs so far.

You aren't naive for not thinking alike, you are naive for trusting somebody who is well known for not being trustworthy. There is nothing self-righteous about pointing that out, it is just stating the obvious. Could I use a more friendly and less arrogant tone? Yeah, I could, but I am not sure I want to when I feel like I am talking to a wall that is mocking and trolling me.

Majority of players liked DA2 and ME3? Yeah, they definitely loved DA2 when it came out, that must be also why it scored so high on any user review agregator out there and they loved ME3's ending so much they were prepared to file a friggin law suit and these very forums turned into a battleground... I actually like those games, as a matter of fact I even said so, but since I took off my rose-tinted glasses I can see their shortcomings and the PR lies surrounding them. Unfortunately what they are doing isn't a crime, they are not really breaking any laws (bar a few individual cases), because there are none that would restrict such practices. It is a broken system and they are taking advantage of it and of us.

Why does it matter to me? Because I like video games and I'd like to keep playing them. But I also would like to be treated as a customer and not as a walking wallet. Luckily there are some companies (and even some bigger ones) that do care, but you could count them with one hand.

And for the bolded part of your text... this is probably the most ridiculous thing I have read on these forums and I have seen suggestions for including rape, enigma code ciphers that nobody could understand, praising the FedEx filler quets or rumours of a thread dedicated to Tali's sweat and so on and you managed to top all that. It it so ridiculous I can't be even bothered to post a facepalm picture. This is one of the reasons why I think you are trolling. If you bought a car for example, but the steering wheel was missing despite you being told the car works well, would you just say "oh well, they promised to make a car and they did, so all good from my point of view" ? :D

I think your last point is interesting because I don't believe the majority of the fanbase actually comes here.

They don't, people who care beyond giving them a like on their FB page come here, whether they did or didn't like the game. But I hope you were not trying to say, that the critics here on BSN are almost alone in pointing out the game's mistakes whereas the vast majority of the fans think this game is awesome? Because there are similar threads on reddits and basically all video game forums, there are user reviews all over the internet, there are dozens youtube videos, etc... There would be tons of disappointed posts on their FB page too, but there is some USSR level censorship going on (I have seen critical posts being deleted as I was refreshing the page).

With DAI and after the RGB ending of ME3, Bioware destroy all the trust I had in them. After having **** two times while I ordered a faux filet, I change of restaurant.

Would give you a like, if I could. Unfortunately I ran out of them once again.

EDIT: I got some of my likes back, there you go.

Will i pre order another DA no. It is a good game but not worth paying 40 quid for me.

The only series i pre order are Battlefield,Dead space,Mass effect and naughty dog the reason for this i want to support  these series and have not disappointed me.

I would say bethesda as well but i wait for the fallout goty editions to come out.

If you quote my statements, quote them fully. You literelly just cut off the main point of my post and then went to argue as if it wasn't ever there :D I hope it was a mistake, otherwise nice fallacy...

I will now counter-argue with my whole statement, not just the first half you quoted. You and your friends really wanted to have big lifeless world, dull and boring optional sidequests and a short main story? Well, at least your expectations were not very high and you got exactly the game you wished for. Good for you :D

Bethesda is touch and go for me - because I enjoyed Fallout 3 hugely (it was my first time playing a Fallout game) - so I pre-ordered New Vegas and was appalled at how I paid full price for what was essentially half a game, with a completely fixed ending - which meant to get the full experience, leaving an open game or starting a new one after every DLC was the only way to enjoy it.

It was after that I swore off full priced games, and only broke that promise for Inquisition because it looked so epic. Yes I like the game, yes I still play it - but am I disappointed that it wasn't the game we were promised? Yes, of course I am! And that is the main reason that the 'no full price games' rule for myself has been reinstated.

Eh? Post-patches I find New Vegas the better game. It's a lot more immersive and deep than Fallout 3. The characters in New Vegas are better developed, quests are more interesting, there's a hardcore mode, and with plenty of different routes and alliances to make the game has a lot more replay value. Not to mention, lot's of guns B)

I've never pre-ordered any game, I simply don't see the point.  For some "free" shinies?  Yeah, no.  I've basically reached a point where I'm not buying any game until it's been out for at least six months.  Tired of unfinished, bug filled garbage.  I don't pay for early access either.  Pay to play a beta?  GTFO with that crap.
