So, I lost my previous savefiles and don't want to play ME2 again (shocking, I know). So could anyone tell me what are the default decisions the game makes for a newly created Shepard? (crew survival, Legion, outcome for collector base, etc.) Thanks in advance!

As I said I already beat the game so no need to hide spoilers.

Miranda, Jacob, Garrus, Tali Mordin are present, Wrex, Legion, Thane, Jack, Zaeed, Kasumi, Kirrahe, Samara, Grunt are not, Tali is exiled, Maelon's research is destroyed, Collector Base is destroyed, Council is killed

Are there any particular decisions you're interested in? :)

I have to play me2 again to get Legion and Thane *facepalm ... Thanks

"Legion not present" does that mean Cerberus will utilize Legion assassins?

Wreav will be in charge and eve will always die which means, if you choose, Mordin will live if genohage is sabotaged

Jacob will be in the game and will live if rescuing the ex-Cerberus scientists mission is completed

Prangley will always die on grissom since Jack is not in the game

Miranda will always die

the collector base will be destroyed so if deciding to do a low ems playthrough, below 1750, destroy will be the only option or refuse if you want

the salarian councilor will die

Tali will be exiled and not an admiral

Geth vi replaces Legion

cannot make peace between Geth and Quarians. Tali will die if picking Geth

the council will not be the ones from ME1

only characters that are romancable are Samantha(femshep only), Steve(maleshep only), Liara(both maleshep and femshep), Ashley(maleshep only) and Kaidan(both maleshep and femshep). Can have a fling with Allers if on the ship

Ashley/Kaidan can be killed during the coup

Everyone can die on the beam run if ems is below 2000

Good choice :) Non-import runs are pretty weird in terms of explanation of the events. In some cases, alternate dialogue is presented, like Liara on Eden Prime. Instead of attributing Shepard's understanding of the videos to the Cipher, she says that it's due to the Prothean Beacon. There are other such minor changes. But some lines remain the same. Garrus talks about Collector Base, Shepard talks about his/her death etc. Events that new players will have no knowledge of.

Regardless of what promo videos say, ME3 is not the place to start the trilogy ;)

   Can I get a confirm?

It is true. Kaidan is bisexual in ME3.

When loading up a new game, I believe you are given the choice of which one is the VS.  And yes, Kaidan is a Bi choice.

I'd suggest picking up the Genesis 2 DLC.  You get to make all of the important decisions from the first two games and have at least SOME say in who's alive and who isn't.  It also allows for Tali, Garrus, or Miranda to be LIs in ME3.

Nope, he is simply replaced with Geth VI during Rannoch. Legion assassin does not appear.

Yep, it's the only ME1/ME2 choice u can make in Character Creator for fresh ME3 playthrough without buying Genesis comics

For the non-imported ME3 game, it is as if all characters were recuited, but NONE were made loyal and therefore a bunch die on the SM.  Including Legion.

Another thing is that edi reveals, on Chronos, that Shepard's body was recovered by Cerberus in a default playthrough. Of course when importing from ME2, Liara tells Shepard that she gave his/her body to Cerberus

I don't think that's the case for Legion. If Legion dies during SM, Geth VI comments on that during the "trust dialogue". On a non-import run, it doesn't mention that. I think in Legion's case it's if you didn't sell him to Cerberus but also never activated him.

Thane and Jack died on the Suicide Mission

You can save the game at the very start of ME3 and edit the save game so it reflects your past choices.

All you need is gibbed save editer and an extracting program.

For xbox you need a USB drive and a program that can extract, rehash and insert xbox files such as Horizon.

- you will need to save both your gamer profile and the character file you want to edit from the xbox HDD to the USB

- Use Horizon to extract the files from the USB to your pc in .xboxsav format (make back ups or a folder to hold the saves)

- Open the file you wish to change with ME3 gibbed, edit to your needs and save.

- Use horizon to replace/reinsert the edited save file on to the USB (must rehash files afterwards or xbox will not read the save)

- save gamer profile and the new edited save game back on to the xbox HDD

- If you have succeeded your xbox will open the file and play, if not take the files back to PC and trace your steps.

For PC it works the same way minus the back and forth with the USB.

This method can also be used to change/mod xbox/PC characters appearance, level, credits, reputation, paragon/renegade, backstory, love interests and previous choices without the genesis dlc. A prime example is giving a custom femshep the default femshep hair.

This method is relatively risk free, just be careful you DO NOT DELETE YOUR GAMER PROFILE at any point. If you have never used your gamer profile on xbox live or do not have a back up and delete it, it is gone for good. With regards to the file editing, in worst case scenarios the file simply wont load - as it is a new save with no value you have lost nothing important.

If there is a way to do this with PS3 i don't know how.

If you attempt this and find it doesn't work, feel free to contact me as i have typed this from memory and may have missed steps (fairly certain i havent).

What they said^

Or even easier, download a save and if you like mod it further.

From what I'm hearing, non-import games suck.

Mass Effect 3 is the best place to start.

In some ways, it's kind of worth it to try it once just to get a few dilemmas here and there. Even the Jondam Bau mission, you basically cannot save both him and the hanar if Kasumi isn't there.

Similair to not having Zaeed. If you're too slow getting to the apartment, Ambassador Korlack will be killed. Once in the apartment, Shepard is able  to knock out/kill the bounty hunters then has to choose between saving a Turian colony or taking the Volus bombing fleet

Bioware didn't choose the worst outcomes for non import saves, they chose the most realistic ones. I'm glad they did because it made things more grounded and believable, well, as believable as Mass Effect could possibly be anyway lol

In short, you start at level 1 instead of 30 and the game is initially a little more difficult. You are missing most of the ME2 squaddies and their usual cameos have worse outcomes as a result. You have to sabotage the genophage and kill the geth unless you're a moron or just intentionally want to make hilariously silly choices, and you don't have nearly as many waifu options.

I think Rannoch is a wash if you don't import. Eithe way gets you the same WA points.

it's as near as makes no difference the same, basically, but the quarians are worth slightly more due to Koris, Xen and Xen's AI relays. Choosing geth means losing a squadmate and all her dialouge and gaining nothing. Now, if you hate Tali than this probably isn't so big a deal but it is still objectively a lesser outcome in every mesurable way but feels (which are subjective).

This is not to mention the worldstate, which is more what I was arguing. The Not-Legion VI is a hilarious douchebag who has a clear disdain for all organics. Siding with it is arguably worse than curing the genophage with Wreav and all his revenge talk, as at least the krogan will take some time after the Reaper war to build ships and infrastructure before trying to kill everyone.

I won't even start with the morality because of the resultant shitposting that will ensue.
