wait tell level 10+ is the easiest way.
Or you can SLOWLY turn the thing and only fight a little bit at a time.
After about halphway I think you can crank it the rest of the way to the end but this works better with higher level party members to keep the enemies busy.
If you're at lvl 8 I'd suggest just turning it very slowly and fighting what comes one group at a time. Takes ages though... least it feels like it does lol.
good luck too you
Once you really get used to it you can essentially "skip" alot of enemies just by knowing WHEN the big groups spawn.

Lost me? terrible memory with names.
Ok looked it up. Having trouble with the templar dude?
Only did templars once but don't remember it being hard at any point. Maybe your party just isn't geared up well enough for nightmare... upgrades and such? I donno what to tell you on that one.

Denham is not easy on nightmare. You have Solas so, use his ice wall, keep him and Varric behind it so Denham stays off of your two most squishy fighters. Solas should also be used to keep Barrier on both you and Cass as much as possible, that means you stay close to her so he can get both of you in one cast of barrier.
Whichever of you or Cass is better at holding agro should be tanking, keeping Denham's attention while the other warrior concentrates on flanking him a dealing damage. Varric needs to disable/caltops him when he can and deal damage from range when he can't disable Denahm. You and Cass will need the most healing potions but, try to use regens at 50 to 60% health first, save the heal pots as long as you can. When Solas can't cast the ice wall, he needs to place ice mine where you or Cass can easily lure Denham into it or, freeze him. It doesn't do a lot of good but, every bit helps in that fight. Just remember Solas is primarily to keep Denham off himself and Varric and, to keep Barrier on you and Cass.

if i wanted easy i would've gone easy , anyway i went cheap mode when it came to him , i made my tanks taunt and run away from him while solas (since he has low aggro) get the trebuchet , it was really impossible to kill him with low potions (about 2 left at the end) and yah , thou i do have the best gears cnsidering my position

Ahh, completely forgot about the potion cach limits. Yea that makes sense. Well glad you found your own solution. More rewarding that way anyways ![]()

Depends. If you have Wall of Ice (and ideally Wall of Fire), you definitely don't need any potions for that fight. There's a pocket near the trebuchet that you can completely block with an un-upgraded wall. Wall of Ice on the inside to block off ranged attackers, Wall of Fire on the outside to cast fear on anyone that tries to break the ice.
Allow the walls to drop whenever you've finished murdering the people trapped inside with you. Otherwise, recast the walls whenever they expire.
Source: my first playthrough I was very undergeared, slightly underleveled (by 1 level), and playing on NM+FF. I ran out of potions about halfway through that trebuchet, but was able to complete it by barricading myself into that area.

Replace Varric with a mage in this fight(for Barrier and Revive) if you have a save file prior to this fight.

I always crank the thing ALL THE WAY because I believe you end up fighting more enemies if not.
You do have to try to fight most of the waves without expending too many potions. So, set potion reserves on AI to 8 to avoid the AI chugging them down. Then when denam is about to come you can grab that supply.
This fight on nightmare benefits from using tactics too. Make sure Solas and Varric are positioned away from harm and have warriors taunt everything. Did you take War Cry + Call to Arms on both your warriors? Barrier on your mage?

Not sure if this is any comfort, but IMO the last trebuchet is the hardest part of the entire game on nightmare.

I agree with this. Basically because the game gets really easy after you get focus skills and specializations.
