Wow, not a lot of Merrill fans on this thread, huh? :(

A thread with rather poor taste, I'd say.

Morrigan, because I enjoy her friendship route so much more than her romance one.

Merrill, same reason.

It doesn't make me less of a fan of either of them. It just means their romance stories aren't as much to my taste as others. I have pursued both, but not in any of my states in the Keep.

I'm not sure yet for Inquisition, but if I had to hazard a guess, I'd say Josephine. Because just likes with the previous two cases, I feel a much more sisterly bond than a romantic one.

DAO: Zev

I just didn't have any interest in Zevran unfortunately.

DA2: Anders/Merrill

Anders was off-putting to me not just as romance but as a character and I thought of Merrill as Hawke's kid sister.

DAI: IB

Just not my cup of tea, the romance was funny when I watched it on youtube though.

There are only two LI that i could never romance in all three of the DA games were Sebastian and Sera.

I could never romance Sebastian because he's just so stupidly naive through the whole of DA2. He's just too blind to the fact that the chantry is not as great as he thinks it is. Even the revered mother tells him that the chantry isn't as innocent  as he believes. Trying to romance him felt like trying to befriend an indoctrinated enemy in Mass Effect. (Sorry but as soon as i said this i couldn't help but think of  a whole little skit for it in my head.)

Sera  just because her character was just completely annoying to me. I know why she acted that way and i know what she was trying to do but i just didn't have any patience for her. Yes she's trying to get everyone to relax and not be so uptight but it was just the way she acted while doing it that pissed me off. Like she was a child that refused to grow up no matter what was happening around her.

I just want to say as a last note that if i pissed anyone off or if i upset you, i'm sorry. That wasn't my intend i was just stating who my least favorite LI's were and why.

I tried to like Josephine's, but I found it to be far too weak all around, and that includes her character. It all just feels flat. The duel in Val Royeaux is amusing, but it just...I dunno. No fizz, or something. I feel like the writers made the most of Cullen's relationship with the Inquisitor (friend or love interest) despite having the role of adviser. It just feels meatier (shuddup).

Yeah, Cullen's romance arc has him often act as if he was the Prince Charming-esque character, all manners and subtle flirtation, right up until he does something completely unexpected like throwing the Femquisitor on his desk and testing just how sturdy the construction is...

I kinda hoped we'd see another side of Josephine, when she's finally allowed to stop being in Diplomat-mode and let her hair down? She was once a bard and she insists that she has a wild side, yet we never see her truly cut loose? Which is a shame, because her reaction to walking in on Iron Bull nude and hustling Cullen into losing all his clothes in Wicked Grace, shows that underneath all that propriety, she's got a very devious and covert pervert streak?

This is a fun topic.

In DA:O I've never romanced Leliana. She's too much of a churchie for my tastes. Correction: I had a character who juggled Zevran, Morrigan, and Leliana for a while but chose Morrigan. That was more a humorous/ridiculous playthrough though.

In DA2, I've never had the slightest interest in romancing Anders. I've done all the others (excluding all 3 acts with Fenris or Sebastian which isn't a real romance), but can't understand why people want to romance a whiny abomination besides for kicks.

In DA:I, the one I'd be least likely to romance is probably Blackwall. He's a liar, a murderer, probably pushing 50, romanticizes Grey Wardens like Alistair, is bitter, lacks any charm, is boring as Varric points out, and I just don't like him.

And to add. I really think Cullens romance was too sweet and cheesy. Barely any conflict...just too much cringe worthy sweetness.

DA:O - Leliana. She creeps me out. Also, ninja-mancing her and then smashing her heart to bits was just... too much.

DA2 - It's a tie between Anders and Sebastian. Sebastian is basically just there and I hate everything about Anders, especially his personality.

DA:I - This one's a hard one. Blackwall barely scraped by, but this one has to go to Cullen. He's just so hardline and battleready that he rarely has the oppurtunity to be himself and even then, there's not much there. With Josephine, every ounce of her being and spirit was alive in her gestures, the way speaks, the way she presents herself and Cullen is just... a dad.

Morrigan and Merrill are better as friends to me, but i like both of them a lot. I just find Morrigan's friendship so touching, and Merrill has mostly felt like a surrogate sibling.

For DAI: I...I'd say either Solas or Josephine. Like Solas's friendship, hate his romance. Like Josephine a lot but not interested in her romance. Solas's is probably my least favorite but it engages me enough to make me angry and try to play it in ways that are palatable to me, Josie's just seems boring.

I was OK with all of the romances in DAO. Morrigan has her ups and downs, but getting to know her shows she cares. Alistair is far and away my favourite though.

DA2 it's Anders. I thought he'd be my first choice but holy bananas, his blood-drowning chat-up line is legendarily bad, for me. My Hawke was inching away and getting out the pepper spray as I reloaded.

DAI I'd say Blackwall. I just can't warm to him somehow. But I've always preferred 'nicer' and softer where romance is concerned, not angsty bad boys and grumpy stoics.

It's interesting that there's no real consensus, but I do think Cassandra & Dorian have fared better than most (and I'm glad, because I love Dorian)

I was about to say "I can't believe anyone dislikes Alistair"... then I remember how he dumped my poor elf girl when I made him king. His fellow humans get a much better arc with him, imo.

I think Josephine is ideal if you are a career minded human Inquisitor with an eye to improving your lot in society after the end of Corypheus. She is certainly the one with the contacts and savoir-faire. Who knows a threesome with Celine or even Duke Caspar's sister (assuming you live long enough to enjoy the physical side of the relationship

I think I need to say something about Leliana from DAO. Of the two females available I thought Leliana the most devious and dangerous. at least you knew exactly where you were with Morrigan. Leliana's opening gambit of "The Maker told me to come" in that ale house in Lothering put me immediately on guard.  L likely had her own agenda for wanting to be involved with a Grey Warden especially as the Chantry was annoyed that they could not influence (control)the wardens to the extent that they wanted. As the game and my rapport with Leliana grew, I found alarming stuff like " I was a spy for many years and used seduction techniques frequently to get what I wanted, before ending their hithertofore humdrum lives! Really scary but exciting nonetheless

While I'm not interested (I like them but I'm simply not interested in their romance) in romancing Morrigan, Zevran, Merril, Dorian or Iron Bull (excuse me I mean "The Iron Bull) I am planning on romancing them all one day just to try something new.

The only one I will never romance (without puking) is Sebastian.

I remember how many people were hoping her romance would involve her actually letting her hair down when things became steamy. Maybe the expectation of a very sensual romance was part of the reason for all the fury when her romance arc turned out to be so sedate?

Hating on characters is silly anyway. Even characters we dislike are fun to analyze and can help us understand our feelings about the lore and the world. And no one makes me like people despite disapproving of and/or disagreeing with them like Bioware does.

Probably Sebastian. Also Morrigan. I didn't like her very much until Inquisition.

In Inquisition, the one I'm least interested in is Blackwall. Not a single inclination to flirt with him ever happened, and that was before I knew anything about anything. Josephine is sweet and adorable but my boyfriend said she reminds him of me, and I can't de-associate that enough because it's true. I'm kind of that sweet, friendly, diplomatic, gets along with pretty much everyone, responsible, good-intentioned, cute person IRL and that's not me being conceited or anything.

Romanced Solas the first time. On second playthrough and likely Solas again but I'm openly flirting with way more people for the moment (still in Haven) because I only flirted with Solas from sometime in Haven onward the first time. If one of them can draw me away from Solas this time, we shall see.

Ah yes, it is time...

5NeX1Gv.jpg

Personally, I am picky and opinionated and never like ALL the romanceable characters in any Bioware game, usually there's one or two I'm really attached to and the rest are either MEH or DNW.

I'll just say I always play female characters and while I don't dislike Sera or Josephine at all, I don't find their romances appealing, which is really frustrating, because I don't *want* to be a hater when it comes to f/f romances.  And I don't really care for angsty hetero romances, except for Fenris, who somehow became the one exception for me.  So in DA:I, my choices are pretty much Cullen and femslash Cassandra fan fiction.  Which is pretty much where I always end up with Bioware games, playing out the "safe" het romance for female player characters, and pining after the unavailable leading lady.  meh.

Probably Zevhran from Origins. I like the character just didn't really enjoy the romance. Alistair all the way!

Didn't play DA2

Blackwall would have to be my least fav in Inquisition. I couldn't even finish the play through that I romanced him in because I just got to be so annoyed by him. I think he treats the Inquisitor rather poorly and besides his past story that comes out he has no real personality.

Tell me about it. I loved romancing Sebastian, Merrill AND Blackwall.

(Not as much as I loved romancing Fenris, but then, Fenris is my favourite BioWare romance of all time so far.)
