More I advance in this game, more I hate it. I HATE IT. And I don't have a habit of hating games, because if I don't like it, I just leave it and never look back. No hard feelings. This one I have to finish. And then I should re-play for doing Iron Bull-romance (my video-project yadda yadda) and how the HELL am I going to endure it when Iron Bull even looks something I wouldn't romance with a 100 feet pole. Seriously what was wrong with Sten? Nothing! Why did you have to give me Iron Bull who looks like...well...bull? And I can't even look at Solas without shivering from discust. I never even talk to him. I never talk any of them, save Dorian, who is awesome. So there is one thing I like in this game: Dorian. And my Inquisitor is hot. "sigh"

To be serious, everything is already listed by someone else, but I mention things that make me scream from frustration in front of my computer:

- endless running in order to find something. It is so pointless. I never expected this from a BioWare-game.

- power-system. Because I have to get power to unlock story (only thing I care in this game save Dorian) I haven't finished almost anything. I just calculate my power-points. Actually I could collect my power-points just by doing those requisitions. I simply do not care about anything that happens beyond me getting my powerpoints. There is no reason to. Filler-content is filler-content, and I just can't force myself to "finish" it. BTW, in one zone I unlocked all areas and what did I get? Nothing!

-jumping. It is beyond me why developers keep doing this. If I have to jump and climb, give me a character that actually can do it. BTW I love AC, so I have nothing against climbing. But I can't tolerate trying to jump 10 minutes. I give up. It simply is not worth it.

-yes, hair is bad. Characters are ugly. Save Dorian and my Inquisitor (thank me for making him)

-Skyhold. I hate it.

-This game simply frustrates me in so many ways.

-btw combat sucks in so many levels I have no words for it.

-AI

I could go on and on.

I have high tolerance for frustration in games. This is first time I'm so tired and frustrated with a BioWare-game I simply want to forget it was ever even made. And don't make any assumptions that my frustration comes from not understanding this new direction they took. Because I have played action MMO's for years, I do. Sort of. This game is just flawed. It is like developers had NO idea what they were trying to accomplish. This game is all over the place trying to be this and that and it leads it to be a hot mess.

I love it that everyone is like "the hair and skyhold pajamas". Yes, those are pretty terrible but if only those were the only terrible things about DAI.

Whoa, let's keep it civil here, the last thing we want is getting the thread locked. He was curious and asked a genuine question.

I have no patience for people like that.

-boring main character with no personality or background
- being a mage isn't as fun as it used to be you basically use the same three spells in every fight
- Hawkes rushed cameo and the stupid choice you had to make ( THE DAMN RIFT WAS RIGHT THERE ALL OF THEM COULD HAVE ESCAPED)
- choices don't even matter
- banter bug
- can't interact with companions outside of skyhold
- collecting random crap
- I don't care about anything most of the time

Collecting herbs sucks, the fact that it isnt instant and your inquisitor has to bend down to do it and that it can even some times happen mid fight by accident is annoying.

Shards, boring most sane people skip this , I have never seen the inside of the temple and i have played through at least 5 times.

Grey wardens, they were butchered in origins we were told they were these great heroes in inquisition they were a bunch of chumps and they got rolled easier than lyrium smugglers in the hinterlands.

Dark yawn I mean spawn, terrible these guys

Combat, yes combat it was weak , too actiony having a party was trivial no real tactics bad AI.

Particle effects and combat animations, way to flashy for a guy like me who plays fantasy games to be like Conan the barbarian not the tinker bell ninja.

Can't dual wield warrior , can't switch weapon sets, can't dual wield anything but daggers, cant allocate your stats, can't dual spec, can't do anything it seems that we liked from previous games.

Romances, I personaly didn't like them but many of the fans here loved them. In fact many of the staunchest of defenders seem to be emotionally blinded by the love of their virtual boy or girlfriend.

Villain, he felt like skeletor, I lfelt as if I was playing a Saturday morning cartoon, this isn't necessarily a bad thing however, previous games target markets did seem to be adults. It's the reason I never got into games like WOW too kiddy.

Open world, the world isn't a world it's a static mannequin place right out of the twilight zone. It's very lonely and creepy.

Wicked eyes wicked hearts, I felt none of the poltical intrigue that some of the staunch defenders talk about feeling from this quest. It felt like a forced long boring grind through an embarrassing and awkward party thing with a bunch of fake French people.

Multiplayer, 3 maps and micro transactions nuff said.

Specializations, they were terrible this game. Arcane warrior was kind of interesting so was rift Mage I guess. The rest were yawners.

Ugly characters, iron bull, the bald head assassin in mp, the keeper in mp, sera wtf ?

Hair, qunari retcon, elves, grey wardens, orlesians, mosaics, iron bull personal quest, Dorians after school special personal quest ( never did it but seen it on YouTube) , Mage quest, Alexius, the final fight etc etc

Honestly I could go on and on. It's been over a month since I've played and I don't miss this game. I feel silly because honestly I played through it quite a bit I kept waiting for it to get good! Like maybe this time it will be better. I had fun for a while after I bought an Xbox one and was playing multiplayer with some family and friends till they got bored because 3 maps.

  1. Story and Exploration is completely seperated and feel like 2 different game modes.
  2. The world feels inorganic
  3. The amount of fetch quests with no cutscenes and singular gameplay objectives instead of interesting characters and side-stories.
  4. Lack of attention to detail or nuance in the plot. The development from untrusted prisoner to leader and the inquisition's growth in power feels cheaply depicted and vague.
  5. Corypheus just doesn't cut it as a good villain.
  6. The SJW agendas. Are you trying to make a believable fantasy universe or are you just depicting a slightly more allegoric and magical version of reality that also panders to as many of your consumers as possible?
  7. The companions are hamfistedly introduced and their companion quests are embarrassingly thin for a Bioware game.
  8. Skyhold. Seriously, what's the point of Skyhold, at the end of the day? To show that the Inquisition has grown... is that it!?
  9. Lack of buildup and believability in the two biggest moments in the game: Sealing the Breach and beating Corypheus
  10. The ending is like a balloon that loses all its air. It makes sense... but wow, what a boring ending.

And yes, I did list them by importance. 1 is most important. 10 is least important IMO. Don't get me wrong, endings do matter but if you could only fix 5 of the issues in this game the first 5 are way more essential IMO.

The rude people who will find anything to ****** about in a great game as though they could make anything even half as good.

what rude people? people here bought the freaking game of course they can complain about it

And how do you know they couldn't make something half as good? its just not their job its Bioware's

stop with this silly fanboyism

To OP:
I think you got the worst things down but I would add that the Inquisitior is a very bland and boring protagonist

he/she had no personality and there were very few RP options

Oh boy, here we go....

Hairstyles, obviously. You have the options: 1)short, 2)short, 3) bald, 4) kill it with fire. Why doesn't the hair move, even just a little? It's kinda sad how I can go back to games made ten years ago and get better looking/better animated hair.

The most mind numbing and boring side quests I've ever had to endure...and it makes up most of the game. Oh dear. "Over 100 hours of gameplay!" Did you mean torture?

Hold R2 to attack. Not engaging at all.

We can finally jump!.....Except it's basically useless and you're barely able to jump over most things and you can't grab the damn ledges. Curse you, waist high rocks!

There's no sprinting and the mounts are extremely slow.

No actual map in the mini map. Have fun going trying to get somewhere just to run into a big ass mountain on your way.

You can't alter your height/weight. In fact, looking at the CC and comparing it to another (like Dragon's Dogma), the only good thing about it is the in depth face customization (which is hindered anyway because of the terrible green lighting in the scene making it difficult to judge skin tones, hair and eye colors.)

They share the same parent company though, so if EA wanted to, they could send a modeller from Maxis to make hair-styles for Inquisition, if they wanted too.

No they couldn't. They're separate entities. No overlap whatsoever.

You pretty much told everything agree with all your points.

I can add only.

No tactics.

Bad ending. Do you think same as me "Rushed weak and anticlimactic"?

And Female romance options are very bad. Josephine disnay romance most boring, weak and short in all DA games. No conment on Sera only good think she have "Kick from Inquisition button". Only one good romance Cass.

I expected story will suffer because of open world, but not this bad.

They aren't made by the same company. Bioware and Maxis have nothing to do with each other. EA is the PUBLISHER not the developer of those two franchises. They give money for the game to be made, slap their name on it, advertise, and set deadlines. It's like saying "I can't believe this book publisher published "insert name of an actual good book here" and "Twilight" both!"  There's no overlap, even in support staff. Game advisors for Maxis are different than the ones from sports and the rest of the games are usually lumped together. THe only exception is during a brand new release in which regular advisors are also asked to take calls from the sports and maxis queues (Or more accurately callbacks since technically it's a click to callback system.)

They share resources.

Nope, sorry. We as diehard DA fans and Bioware fans must mash, bash and obliterate Bioware's face with constant critique so as to reinforce them into doing a better and less crappier job next time! FFS

Brilliant post. Your thing on the Grey Wardens. Completely agree. How in mighty hell can we and a bunch of armed peasants take out so easily seasoned and well trained fighters. Beyond me, and the retcon of the qunari is also something bioware fudged.

They couldn't, right... You make all those EA divisions sound like Cerberus Cells :D

The fact is BW has worked closely with DICE and other studios in order to get the most out of FB3 and to add new features to it. BW could very well asked for help from other EA divisions. Also EA just doesn't publish for those companies, they own them (unlike in the case of your example with publishing books).

My friend started working at EA in one division in NVA, transferred a couple of times to the newly acquired, and has now applied to the Bioware (God, I hope she gets it).  They share resources.

EA easily could have contracted a modeller from Maxis to make some decent hair for Inquisition. Why do you think Bioware is even using Frostbite? EA wants all their flagship titles to use it and Frostbite belongs to DICE.

Yep, I mean the utter lack of any climax at all even though DA2 and me3 had narrative climaxes boggles my mind considering that Bioware is known for great stories. Wow.

Also, the companions were not really companions. More like Mercs, with Bull - it's literal. You barely know these guys compared to say DA2...I still don't know much about my companions even though i talked to them all and exhausted their dialogues which were at times Boring and that is probably because it was in crappy 3rd person camera view angle dialogue. So lame.

Namea doesn't see any point in interacting with people who have literally done nothing since the game's release but bash it to oblivion. Again, I challenge you or anyone on this forum to write, animate, or code anything half as impressive.

And here my friends, you have the typical fangirl/fanboy, the game industry's favorites.

Seriously though, what kind of logic is that?! So just because we're not game developers it means we have to be happy with whatever game they throw at us? Even if it's an unfinished crap? It's not like we paid for it or anything, how dare we except a quality game for the price of 60€. Shame on us.

Unfortunately Bioware spent much time with Frostbite 3 Graphics that they forget about creating really meaningful in-game mechanics...Sorry but,Dragon Age Inquisition is a gorgeous looking game, but is an average RPG...Some can call me a Hater, but still,Dragon Age Origins is the best, best RPG,Best Story and best in complexity...

There were moments in Origins that gave you pause. Should I just kill the kid? Is this cat for real? Should I destroy the Urn? No single moment in Inquistion comes close to those three I just pulled from the top of my head.
