If you don't have PbtM or Griffon, then yeah, I'd say use CR and skip the HoK ring and go with crit damage. However, if you have the unique bows, I think it's better to go with those and a HoK ring/Long Shot Ring. I tried out CR with the extra crit damage bonus, and it just doesn't do as much dmg as PbtM.

I don't have pbtm but do have griffon, I'm going to try cr + ls + crit damage and if using griffon I'll switch the crit damage for hok ring. I find at the beginning before getting the critical passives, griffon is top for dps.. However once you have those passives, cr synergizes better with them. Anyone else try this out?

It's true. I have all three of them, and have Cunning high enough to have 100% crit chance (but without healing yet) with PbtM. First of all, it works! Second, I have soloed Venatori on Perilous with that setup (without "innate" healing and even without potions). Crit chance is very important, more important than crit damage. But CR can have +39% crit damage too without rings. Conclusion: if you have no (or few of) Cunning promotions, use PbtM, instead use CR.

Personally I use Griffon for initial Routine run or two, with both superb HoK rings it works like a charm!

I'm seeing my Longshot do more damage using Punched by the Maker, over Griffon Bow. Also, have been using more Explosive Shot (the flanking bonus damage and crit chance is so good, especially when you have a nice group of enemies) and skipping Knockout Bomb.

ES works efficiently with Opportunity Knocks, creating multiple quick crits, and does a great job getting the cooldown of Longshot up fast. I'm basically spamming both abilities, and using Leaping Shot when I'm in melee range of an enemy and want to bug out. I'm finding that ES is worth it over KB.

I love the knockdown effect of es, especially when there are those mini me demon commanders. Es, ls while it's down followed by leaping shot or another es to drop it and prevent it from teleporting or if cast while it's going down, it still hurts and provides for good mob control And dead dc.

CR's Long Shot is strongest even without crit damage ring. It's best bow for Archer atm.

Agreed.

Ok, lets do some calculations.

My build gives me 18 Cunnung at lvl19. It's not hard to obtain 11 Cunning Prowler Armor Arms. At minimum it gives us (10+18+11)/2=19.5% crit chance. Another +5% crit chance we have from And Take Them Down (part of my build). So base CHC is 24.5%. CR gives us another 9%, sum is 33.5%, or 1/3. Each crit hit reduces CD by 0.5 sec. Enhanced amulet of cooldown is not a big deal, so ES, LongS and LeapingS have CD=7.2 sec. Lets assume that all of 12 LeapingS arrows are connect. It gives us approximately -2 sec of cooldown which is... well, it's not enough for me. PbtM in such circumstances gives us 40.5% CHC, or -2.4 sec (side note: another ~2 sec takes the animation itself). Difference is about 0.5 sec which is noticeable and sometimes critical. And this gap is permanent for these two bows!

It's not hard to calculate lowest level of Cunning at which you can have infinite Leaping Shots (at best of course).

I don't worry about crit chance on my Archer (or Assassin). Sneak Attack gives me around 70-85% more crit chance when flanking. This game gives you an insane hit box to flank. Basically, if your target is not directly in your face, you have it flanked. Nearly every shot is a crit. All my Longshots and Explosive Shots are, and a lot of Leaping Shots are unless the target is actively attacking you. Pair with Flanking Fire, and you've got yourself a deadly cannon.

I'm more concerned with the actual damage I do in the game. Regardless of what's on paper, I'm seeing higher damage done with my Longshots using the PbtM.

1% heal on hit with the CR is pretty nice (excellent with Leaping Shot if you can get all 12 arrows to connect), but on Perilous, I'm still getting 3-4 kills with one Longshot, and that's a lot of HoK from the ring. I'd rather use PbtM and a HoK ring, vs CR and crit dmg ring. I also love it when you get killed while you have a Longshot in flight, and you're back up from the HoK (rare, but it happens)
