The Executors are mysterious representatives who speak "on behalf of powers across the sea", presumably entities from beyond the Amaranthine and Boeric Oceans. They are believed to be organized and maintain a number agents and resources across Thedas, but their motivations are unknown. They use as their symbol a downward-pointed triangle with two wavy lines drawn through it.

i just seen this today now i"m wondering if they are gonna play a major part in a upcoming dlc or future game these other lands must know of thedas why don't Thedosians make contact with them

Yeah, this is interesting.

At first, I thought it was just the Qunari, but then I got that creepy letter from them. Definitely not Qunari.

A new shadowy group.  I'm intrigued, and hope that this doesn't get dropped.

Oh, I bet you we will see them again. Possibly as some type of antagonists or something like that. Perhaps they will sail down and invade the Thedas that we know of?

To answer why we never heard of them before...think of Columbus. Before him, we've never seen or heard of the Americas...the "known" world of Thedas might be a lot bigger than we imagined it to be. The "Executors" could be seen as sort of an American Indian, but with similar (or more) techs/knowledge as our known Thedas.

It's a war table mission. 'Investigate the strange chalk markings'. The War Table has some true gems, both comedy and horror (like the current topic).

Do you have to do something specific to get it? I mean does it always show up?

Hopefully they will tease us with some scraps in WoT Volume 2.

Maybe these guys are the reason the Qunari left wherever they came from and landed on Thedas.

You can choose to investigate or leave it be.

If you let it go, then "they" take some of your people (they claim that your guys left "voluntarily" for "a higher purpose" or something creepy.

If you follow up by having Leliana investigate, then they send you a creepy ass letter saying that they are "not your enemy..... for now....."  and that they merely wanted to observe the crisis going on in Thedas.  They assure the Inquisitor that he/she will never hear from them again.

I remember the letter but was there anything more to it was what I wondered. Hmm this does sound like a potential plot for another game. Interesting stuff!

From my understanding it's kind of bugged, I didn't get it in my first playthrough but did during my second. I had initially assumed the chalk marking thing was hinting at the Venatori since it happened before Haven and was never followed up on. Then come second playthrough and boom, crazy creepy letter from "those across the sea".

It was bugged before the last patch.  I had never gotten it before then, and after the patch, I loaded up my very first completed playthrough, and there it was, along with a few other missions, uncompleted on the War Table.

No, no, it's fine. Elven gods and Old Gods and the Black City and the Taint and the qunari and Arlathan wasn't convoluted enough. We really needed another continent and Executors with an higher group watching Thedas.

Seriously tough, good job. This lore is deep, son.

To be honest for me that whole organization is a pointless waste of time first they pretty much came from nowhere like venatori and it seems they want introduce another dangerous empire across the sea when we already have one.

How what? I don't think that da verse need to "expand" or at least do that by adding superpowerful organizations from nowhere. Dragon age already have tons of unexplained secrets and huge potential for plenty conflicts i don't think alien invasion is good idea.

A lunatic Tevinter cult devoted to revanchism and the glory of Old Tevinter made perfect sense considering the setting, and their being chosen as servants of Corypheus also made sense.

We know almost nothing about the Executors. I figure we'll be able to judge whether they came from nowhere or whether they make sense once we find out some solid information.

Is this dangerous empire you're referring to the kossith? We don't know if they're united, just that the Qunari ran away from them. Which, admittedly, does point to them being powerful.

It's also possible that the Executors are kossith. *shrug*

But since the Executors are standing vigil for something horrible to happen, and keep a close eye on Thedas, I imagine that they're tied to one of the plot threads we're already familiar with. Likely the elven gods, possibly red lyrium or the Forgotten Ones or what-have-you.

The Warden went to the homeland of the Executors in search of a cure to the Calling and was captured. It will be our job to rescue him.
Lair of the Executors DLC.
