Who knows how many chest you'll have to open to get that rare or unique item.  If there is an option right there to buy the item of your choice for $5 will you do it?

Also would you be mad at anyone who used that option?  Keep in mind there are a lot of people who don't have 1,000 hours of spare time to grind for items they may or may not get.

Obviously people would, but that would not make Bioware very much money. A bunch of people would get 2 or 3 items right away, stuff to complete their manifest, but then nobody would buy platinum for the regular chests anymore... if they ever did.

It's better than what we have. And EA deserves to make at least some money.

well obviously this newer option would completely replace the platinum chest.  I'm just wondering if this option would be welcomed by the community, and if there is a legitmate demand for it.

It have to cost way more.. like $20.  And no, Bioware would never do it anyways.

What if I gave you $20 to salvage everything in your inventory (*everything*), would you do it?  $40?

Ask yourself this:  When has Bioware ever worried about what the community wants in regards to this game?!  Sure, we would all gladly welcome any damn change to this shitty loot system but I'd rather see something that would make it a rewarding experience for dedicated players, not just a pay-to-beat-the-scoreboard.

Not at all.

Will you top the board? Sure. We all get the same amount of experience and as long as we extract, its the same.

Do weapons/armor determine if you extract? Probably a good part of it. You can put top armor and weapons in the hands of anyone but if that player has no idea what strategy to use in threatening/perilous because they've always been able to Rambo on routine, it isn't going to matter.

I've seen players who play routine to level 16 then jump in perilous for the first time and try to play the same way they did on easy mode. They get annihilated.

Odds are someone who knows the strategies to play perilous already have some top tier weaponry so it really isn't going to make that much of a difference. I could buy punched by the maker for $$$ or I could use the RNG awarded Griffon I already have and waltz through threatening and come in the top two in perilous 90% of games. Not that much of a difference really.

The difference comes in when I know the DC is jumping at me and I can get away without getting one shot, or when one of the other jumper demons (idr what they're called) is on its way. I'm aware of my surroundings and can adjust to them. Someone who levels in 20 games of routine paying no attention because they barely take damage then jumping into perilous won't know WTF to do and will probably Fade by zone 4.

no and anybody who would deserves a swift kick.  this is whats wrong with gaming today aside from them being released in unfinished states.  Its making the problem worse and bending over for it is going to result in them trying more and more and more.

People don't even care that chunks of games are taken out and then offered as "pre order bonuses" anymore.  Majority of gamers are idiots these days.

This topic reminds me so much of the sims. When did I put down the series entirely? Katy Perry's Sweet Treats ITEM PACK. That was my wake-up call. Not only that but the roll-out of TS4 made it pretty obvious that microtransactions and DLC items are becoming an excuse for half-finished games and held-back content.

Quote numerous other games if you choose.

Bioware has been very fair with DA: I, however. Every item is available in-game. Microtransactions optional. Plus they've patched in some added content for free, cool. Something I never would have expected today.

I applaud Bioware for breaking the norm.

Edit: Forgot deluxe pre-order items.   ...... <_<

Well said.

Being a gamer for years, and seeing how the industry and gone from quality to quantity.  I have no problem paying $70 for my XB1 game.  I have no problem with paying for DLC or season pass if I truly like the game.  What I am not cool with is paying for a bugfest of a game, half the content that should be original release, and micro-transactions.  Also, yes I did buy the deluxe version od DAI and wish I hadn't, but that's on me—"lesson learned".

The truest showing is when the community can come back and feel like they got their money's worth, and post-support/interaction from the devs, which with many games is simply not the case these days.

With the current system, you could spend $50 and have a good chance at not obtaining a best in slot item.

I`d rather put 10 more and buy me another game and drop this POS altogether. Neither of the 2 is even remotely close to ideal but what you`re asking is just asshatery.

That's an understatement! You could spend hundreds, thousands and still not get anything. I know there are a lot of people with over 1 mil gold spent and are missing a good chunk of items. If my math is right it's roughly $3700 to get as many chests via platinum.

Nah, but I would rather spend 50$ on knowing what I'd get, than buy 50$'s worth of plat, which I, for the record, have already done back when I started initially.
