I find it interesting (if a little odd), that if given the following:

You can buy any item for either $5 or 250k gold, that most people here would actually choose to grind out 250k instead of paying $5.  Is $5 really that much money?  Even if you are speedrunning perilous day in and day out, grinding out 250k takes quite a bit of effort, no?

For me the 5$ is a principle here. And I am still not old enough to let it go.

As long as the weapons and accessories were max level, then yes, I would. It's very disheartening to play this game since it came out and the best thing I got out a chest was a superb ring of crit chance. Can't exactly play perilous if all I'm getting out of chests are chopsticks for daggers.

I was away for a few weeks more.

I returned.

People actually come up with straightforward microtransactions for this game.

It's an asylum right here, see you when anything is released.

I think anything they give the option to buy should be fairly obtainable in-game without spending money. I would prefer just to have regular content updates, and plenty of content I wouldnt have to pay for, but It couldnt hurt if Bioware included some new packs with higher quality loot, and others with a higher chance of gaining armour, giving us an incentive to spend platinum when new DLC becomes available.

It was the same with MEMP, while the loot system was arguably better, the loot chests still only became worth spending cash on when the spectre and character packs became available IMO. This was when there was a lot of content to unlock too, with so many unlockable characters and varied different weapons to aim for you were much likelier to get satisfying item drops from your chests.

I am quite happy to spend a little to voluntarily support a game that feeds me new content regularly, despite my best intention never to spend money on a free game, I spent a bunch of money on one particular game at christmas (everyone got me PSN points for christmas, and I had nothing better to spend them on) and I havent regretted it at all because of the sheer volume of content I regularly get for free. I could have spent that money on DAIMP..but would have had a tiny fraction of the content I received and stood a good chance of getting very little from chests. Had there been new DLC for christmas and some "Inquisitor packs" or something Bioware could have had a fair bit of spare cash spent on them instead.

Normally I do not spend money on microtransactions, but with the way psn store works, you quite often have spare points left over from buying games or DLC, its that spare cash I would consider occasionally buying chests with if they made chests worthwhile.

Well if they fixed the loot system so it stopped giving you duplicates of the same uniques then we wouldn't need to pay $5.

It's not really unique if you have 10 x LBotG, infact it is closer to army dirks...

Or  just raise all the stats of uniques to lvl 20 +

There are actually some decent stats/abilities on lvl 12 uniques that you never use because there are better white or blue alternatives with higher levels/dps.

I agree it would be nice to have useable versions of some of the uniques, because lets face it, lots of the lower level ones you never use because you found a lvl 20 common instead..

They could implement a "combine" system that lets you combine weapons to raise their stats and level - with set caps of course. This way you could find a use for many of the weapons that previously were not quite good enough to use.
Perhaps after reaching max level, you could "prestige" weapons for a stat increase bonus, again with a cap to keep things within limits. Increases should be measured by item rarity and level when combining, so your duplicate uniques would be excellent for levelling others up, your highland dirks not so much(but you get plenty of them so it balances out).

This system correctly implemented, would make loot drops infinitely more palatable, and also increase weapon diversity.

As much as I would like a combine system, I doubt they would put time or  effort into.

So the easiest thing for them to do would be to raise the level and the base stats of the low level uniques so atleast you have variety of weapon choice and get to use these otherwise useless unique weapons.

I still keep my low level unique weapons because i grinded hard for them... Even though I never get to use them.

Who knows how many chest you'll have to open to get that rare or unique item.  If there is an option right there to buy the item of your choice for $5 will you do it?

Also would you be mad at anyone who used that option?  Keep in mind there are a lot of people who don't have 1,000 hours of spare time to grind for items they may or may not get.

Bioware would rather charge you $5 for the "chance" to get a unique from opening a box, that has the same chance to drop a unique item as any other box you open in the game. Oh, yeah they already do that.

It's better than what we have. And EA deserves to make at least some money.

Say what? I deserve to get some money returned, if you please. -_-

Bought me a whole game with 5 euro - no less than Mass Effect 3. Some years later still, but if we compare what I bought a few hours ago vs what your 5 euro would buy me...

Actually, I bought it cheaper, as it was 4.99.
