For some odd reason my game will NOT allow me to save. At any time. The Save section in the start menu was blocked out and when it came back on, I still could not save my game. It just said "character name" or something and the autosave feature isn't even working. I tried quiting and reloading for at least a glimmer of hope, only to see that my game is lost. It seems like its corrupted. It was a ME1 character import, but that shouldn't mean anything. Something is corrupted, and I want to know how to resolve it. Any help would be most appreciated.

p.s. it also listed my specialization as a soldier. my character was an infiltrator:huh:

I'm having the same problem. Twice i have lost my game progress. autosave was on, but nothing is getting saved. I turned it off, and i cannot even access the save button. I tried to load any autosaves, and even tried selecting a different profile but now i cannot reselect my character. The save button is accessible now but i cant select my character for some reason to save the game. So basically i have just waisted a few hours of my life. Thank you Bioware.

Oh great; so this is a bug? I figured it was just autosaving or something; then I died, pressed resume; watched the team die, and nothing... I'm staring at a corpse.

Super, there goes 6 hours.

I can't save either. Nor can I actually sign into my gamer profile (the same one I finished my imported character with) in order to save my progress.

What the ****z, BioWare?

I just had the same problem, played for hours and went to save... it's blacked out. I have autosave turned on, so no problem right? Go into main menu, no resume, no load, just new game. I gotta say, this is killer for me. Wasted my night.

Can you log into your gamer account or does it give you a weird message telling you need to sign out in order to continue?

To be honest, I don't know. I turned off my 360 in disgust. I won't be touching ME2 agian until I see that this has been fixed.

Same issue. I'm about 3 hours in or so. Haven't been able to save from the beginning, kept thinking it would allow me to save once I got to certain point. There goes 3 hours. I know this is a big game and QA is tough, but come on. Legend of Zelda saved in 1985.

Had the same problem and only investigated why after about 4-5 hours in. Unfortunately, it seems the only way to get it to work is to restart a new game. This time, I could save as soon as I grabbed my pistol.

I've done that. When the message pops up telling me to restart because there's been a "sign-in change" (even though there HASN'T), I restart. And I keep getting the same message until I log out of my gamer profile. The game lets me play once I sign out but then won't let me play once I try to sign back in. It just keep giving me that same "error" message and doesn't let me save.

GAH!

So when you started a new game the bug was gone? not ideal but everybody should attempt a save right at the beginning of play until a patch is sent then i guess

Same thing happened to me. I kept thnking it would let me save. Finally it let me get to the save menu only to see a placeholder for my name and load game showed no saved games. 3 hours down the drain. I'm afraid to start again.

I started again. Let me save almost immediately, once I'd picked up my pistol and killed the first mech. 12 minutes into the game, according to the save, though I'd left a dialog box open for a minute or two while I went to grab something to drink. So not a big time investment there before it let me save; just the couple hours wasted earlier.

I can also confirm that starting a new game fixed my problem. I can save immediately(well after 10 minutes of unskippable cutscenes). Hopefully it stays that way!

This exactly describes my situation too. I just tried starting up a new game, and sure enough, save works just fine. Now I have to work all the way back to where I was. Hopefully there won't be any other major bugs like this to encounter...

This glitch means I just wasted 6 freakin hours on this game and I won't have anything to show for it because I have to completely restart. I wish I would have noticed earlier but hey, when you buy a game you expect it to save when you set it up to autosave. And even if they put out a patch, I can't download it without losing all my progress since I'd have to exit the game and boot it back up in order to initialize the download. Come on BioWare. Don't let stupid **** like this happen. This should have been caught before release.

Have the same problem as well. Placeholders for my character name and text. Will let me save a new character but not an imported one no matter how many times i make a new game. This is crap. I hope this isn't some screwed up way of adding replay value =P

Will try the recommendations that were successful for you guys. And yes, it seems that their systems integration and user acceptance tests execution blows. This is huge bug that many of us are experiencing, goes to show their interest in QA. I guess that is why EA is over $1B under.

Wait wtf? I had this issue last night, I thought it was auto-saving only because I had that enabled.....and I shut off my xbox. Now guess what....NO ****ING SAVE GAME ANY MORE.

I AM NOT, REPEAT NOT, going to replay that section again. The game is being returned and no more Bioware games for me from now on.

To all of you who are being affected by this, did you all download the title update?

I started playing Tuesday evening around 5PM and therefore didn't have the title update. However, I noticed the game was slow to register that combat had ended and wouldn't always let me save when I wanted to. I'd have to walk away from the previous battle site or toward the next battle trigger and finish that before the manual save option would light up.

Also, I disable auto-save in the options screen before starting the game, but it still auto-saves. I checked the options mid-game and auto-save was still disabled.

I did not get the title update and have not played since my first attempt. Just wondering if the title update has anything to do with your problems?

I for one will not download the title update until I know what it does and it is safe. Not after what happened with DA:O on 01-13-10.

I had the same problem when I got my copy of ME2. At first it really pissed me off as well, since I lost the 2 hours I put into the game. However, I connected to XBL and downloaded the update, and everything seems to work fine now. It lets me import my ME1 Shepard without telling me that a sign in change occurred, AND it lets me save. Hope this helps for anyone also having the problem.

As for Bioware, I'm not sure how they could possibly let something this major slip through the cracks without telling anyone. I scoured the internet for an hour before I found anything related to this problem.

Not a problem with saving games and loading saves since the beginning. If you think this is bad, try PC gaming where software (or even hardware) conflicts can cause more ridiculous problems.

This is probably related more to EA's DRM system than anything Bioware has done. To be sure make sure you are still connected to live and are still connected to EA's server as well. If you see anything that says "sign in change" back out of the game to the dashboard, resign in to xbox live, then load the game again.
