Yes! I hate this too. I used to be a cashier at Best Buy and people would do this all the time! Made me want to throw whatever they were buying at them.

It doesn't even make any sense. Like they don't have to even touch my hand, just drop it a couple inches over.
I had a cashier do that to me every time I use to get coffee at a place a while back and I finally got so fed up I started paying in nickels that I would just drop on the counter as well.
