Bring up the task manager (ctrl+alt+del xp or ctrl+shift+esc vista/7), go to processes, select masseffect2.exe, right click, set affinity to processor 0 only. Uncheck the all processors option, and make sure only processor 0 is checked off. I was crashing every 5-10 minutes until I did this. The same thing had to be done for Dragon Age Origins.
