So I figured out how and why I can get mana surge on my non-mage characters when a Keeper with mana-surge cast barrier. If you look at the corner you will see I have mana-surge, and yes I do get to cast my next skill for free. It is not lag related.
I remember a while back there was some confusion about whether other classes benefit from mana-surge.The answer as it remains is no, you do not get mana-surge on a non-mage when a barrier from a Keeper with mana surge expires naturally. However, there is a method to get mana-surge and it can also freeze enemies around the player if the conditions are met when barrier expires (inconsistently).
Basically if you have a buff active when barrier expires you get mana-surge. For my archer, I had Rolling Draw active, and then I saw mana-surge and was confused. I then tested to see if I could use next skill free and it was, so I let barrier drain again to figure out how I got mana-surge. I tested it with my necro with walking bomb on wait and got mana surge. It's not a game changer, I figured it was happening all along but unnoticed.
Before anyone starts giving me flak for pointing this out remember that the necromancer grave-walker method was discussed without even batting an eye that returning from the dead may not be intended. Plus who in their right mind would wait for barrier to expire on a non-mage just to cast the next skill free? Anyhow, if you like I was wondering why enemies around you are freezing when playing a warrior and the Keeper is very far this maybe the reason.
